[Knock, knock] "Lord, your breakfast is ready. Lord, Lord! I'm sorry for my intrusion," the maid opened the door slowly. "Aaaahhh," she screamed at the top of her lungs to the sight in front of her.
The guards were there in a flash, all petrified by the sight in front of them. They couldn't believe their eyes, this tyrannical man that ruled this swath of land was dead, some fell to their knees while weeping for joy mostly the women, others were disgusted at the amount of blood and gore that was on the floor, questioning how that amount of blood can fit in a body.
By the time news of the dead lord got out of the castle, I was already out of the city. I had taken a pouch of gold from the treasury, I had used two coins to buy a set of old worn clothes and a brown hooded cape. I used the clothes to replace my flashy, bloody clothes and used the cape to hide my face and instead of using my real name I started to go by Ito. I took up assassinations as a way to make money and before I knew it I got the nickname Shadow. I had kept this lifestyle for one or two years now, I'm now 14, I think.
It was early morning, I was staying at a famous inn in the town of Itrin. It was a nice cozy place, the people were nice even to strangers, that was uncommon considering the possibilities of danger that came from unnamed travellers. I was walking down the stairs to go get the breakfast they served, I mean it was some seriously good food, as I was eating the last bit of food on my plate a tall burly man walked up to me and sat down, his height was about 6.8 ft lots of muscle and he had a great sword on his back, damascus probably. He says to me, "you the one they call Shadow?"
I look at him and respond in a questioning tone, "who-you?" it didn't come out right as I had food in my mouth, but he seems to have got what I was implying.
"Walter," he said proudly "I'm here to request a job for Shadow, a very important job."
After swallowing I lean back and say, "depending on how important I might just relay it."
"It's about a certain organization of people but I can't give you any more information until we have a quiet place to talk."
"Done," I say after setting up a shadow room barrier.
"What do you mean done?"
"I set up a shadow room."
"Hold it, you said shadow room?"
"Yes"
"Only shadow sages and higher can cast that and even sages take some time to cast it!" he knocked over his chair while standing up.
"So?"
"Are you a grand sage sent by the royal court, out on investigation?"
"No."
"Then you must be Shadow. Because Shadow is the only shadow grand sage that isn't under the jurisdiction of the royal court!"
"Ok, so back to business you wanted to request a job for me."
He cleared his throat and sat down before saying, "yes it's about the Morsen corp they have been doing illegal trades for the past two years and now we have enough proof about it and we want you to shut it down."
"Who is the target?" I ask because I don't do unspecified target requests.
"The head of the corp and vice head, they have authorized the illegal trades and are using this to get rich fast without caring of the consequences."
"Ok, I will take you up on that offer."
"Great, meet me at the town entrance tomorrow night. I will tell you more than," he responded while standing up, as he was walking to the door I released the spell. He looked back and smiled at me, motioning for the door. I don't think he realized that I already cancelled spell so I gave my thumbs up. He then turned around and walked out of the inn.
