Chapter 3 - 2. Ryan

The white tubelight flickered in the cell as I watched the dark figure in the small room. This is our questioning room which resides in the basement of the pack house. Dark walls and grey floor gives it a much needed hrim look along with a couple of degrees low temperature.

The dark figure of the Northerner in front of me groans and his eyes almost bulge out as he peeks through his eyes lids, earning us another growl.

"Good morning, Caden? Is it your real name?", I ask. The vampire in front of me just turns his face sideways.

I sigh, "You're tied up. There are five werewolves here, do you think this attitude will help you in this situation? Come on, tell us, what's your name?"

"Aegon.", he croaked.

Ardia chuckled and commented, "That's a shit name.", I glared at her, so intensely that she was silenced and hung her head low. No one speaks when I question. Not even my Beta.

"Can you tell us, Aegon, why are you here?"

"They sent me. They sent me!", Aegon screeches. He looks nervous, even afraid.

"And who exactly are your 'they'?"

"It's not over! It's not over you fools! They are coming back! And you, oh you are on their list! On the top!", Aegon shouts as blood comes out of his mouth and sticks along his chin. He tries to wipe it but his hands are tied. He sendt out a loud curse.

I took his chin roughly and pulled him close to me. I gave him a glare and noticed even Ardia and Andy sqirm a bit.

"Stop talking to in puzzles!", I pushed his face back and curled my big palm around his neck.

I brought my lips near his ear and said to him in a threatening whisper, "You, my friend, are going to tell me everything very clearly. So, why are you here?"

His eyes were bulging out of his skull and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Ardia stuttered, "You're choking him, Alpha."

I removed my hand from his neck and he heaved a sigh followed by a rugged cough. If Ardia was stopping me then it must have been bad. I have to control myself. But this Vampire was getting on my last nerves. I wanted to stand up to my father's expectations. He died for his pack. For the werewolves. I didn't want some blood sucking idiot to ruin the trust my pack members had on me.

When Aegon caught his breath he spoke in a rough voice, "We were just distractions. They knew you'd leave everything as soon as you catch the scent of Northerners in your territory. You don't know what they are planning for you, Alpha Ryan. Your father did a grave mistake and he did face the consequences, right. He died. Leaving you, a pathetic son."

A sharp sound of a slap echoed across the dimly lit room. It wasn't me. It was Ardia. She was steaming in anger. She tried so hard to cover her sadness and pain with the furious expression on her face but she simply couldn't. Atleast, not from me.

Almost nine years back, Vampires had tried to take over the mythical community. Which included werewolves, trolls, mer people and nymphs. It was my father who brought all the packs together and even included all the other creatures to fight them. He was a leader. He even tried to get element witches but they remained neutral. Element witches could control a specific element, making them powerful. But the didn't help us and that's why werewolves started to seethe them.

Mine and Ardia's father, who was the Beta, died in the war. We both were abandoned and our mothers were miserable. And the worst thing to happen to a nine year old was when her mother took her life. She was broken without her mate. My mother barely survived but since she was the Luna, making her stronger than most she-wolves, she had some strength left in her to cope up the great loss.

I respected Ardia too much. Even after everything she stood strong, as the Beta of the most powerful pack.

"Who exactly are your 'they', Aegon?", Andy asked as he tried to calm Ardia down who now hugged him from her side.

"It's the group of the most ancient Vampires who age almost 500 years. They call themselves The Breakers. We are trained to work for them."

"And what exactly was the thing for which you were sent as distractions?", I ask him.

"I...I don't know... "

"I swear to Moon Goddess, if you don't answer me I'll pluck your eyes out and my wolf would be more than happy to feed on them.", I said gritting my teeth.

"I swear! I don't know! They never tell us to protect the secret from situations like this, if we get caught.", Aegon tells me. He seemed light headed and was on the verge on passing out again. I groan loudly. How messes up can things get sometimes.

"Tie him up some more and leave him in a locked cell. And send the Deltas over to me, we need to discuss a few things.", I say to one of the guards who accompanied us.

"We need to find out if anything, even the smallest unusual thing happened in the territory. We need to find what exactly this excuse of a 'distraction' was sent here in the first place.", I say pointing at the passed out body of Aegon.

"Good, I was planning on calling the warrior wolves up for a meeting as well. We need to rep up the border patrol more. And I think I'm going to put some warroirs inside the territory areas as well.", Andy said.

Ardia had something on her mind too which she spoke, "We also need to communicate with mer people and nymphs if they encountered something unusual too. And I think we need to call a meeting with other Alphas to discuss if they have similar issues."

"Good.", I say and then I remember something and asked Ardia, "Are you planning on missing school, today?"

We were awake the whole night waiting for scumbag Northerner to wake up form his Sleeping Beauty trance. And it was almost time for school. We went to a nearby public school which was filled with lazy and dumb teenagers. Werewolves try to be close to humans to understand them which gives us knowledge how they think and how we can use it to our advantage to protect them from Vampires or trolls or anything which they need protection from. It was the part of the treaty and an oath which was taken years back.

"Do you think after all this I'll go to that dull place. We got so much work to do!", Ardia said.

"Or maybe you just want to skip the Chem test you have today", I suggested.

"Okay maybe that accounts for like 2% of the part as to why I have to skip school but pack duties are more important.", she said.

"Let's face it Ardy, Chem is your weakness along with Chris Evans.", Andy sniggered.

Ardia scoffed, "Oh please! I'm gonna take that stupid test and ace it."

"Yeah if getting a C is your way of acing it.", I continued, "You know Charlie wants us to do good. It's final year let's just get over it."

"Why do I have the feeling you both are ditching me. You both are totally skipping school right?", Ardia wrinkled her nose.

"You know us so well, Ardy", I gave her an amused look and she groans.

"I'm not giving you both any notes."

"Yeah, that is if you remember to take notes.", Andy said.

"And Ardy, please don't get on Mrs. Weatherby's nerves. We won't be there to save your ass and you'll get into detention. We need you at pack house on time.", I reminded her. Mrs. Weatherby is our Biology teacher and she had an Ardia Fetish.

"Whatever, it's not my fault I'm the only one in that class who speaks my mind. I mean what am I supposed to answer when she asks what is 'heat?"

"Absolutely not answer what werewolf heat is. You know she actually refered to the oestrus cycle.", I told her.

"You're giving my mind a menstral cramp.", she groaned.

"But, let's face it, the look on her face when Ardy talked gibberish about werewolves and mating and heat was ultimate.", Andy high fived Ardia.

"That wasn't gibberish though, it was the truth but her naive little brain just couldn't process it. Well, tata to you both. I hope you guys drown in utter boredom while I ace the test.", Ardia spoke as she skipped across the chamber to get ready for school.

"Let's get to work, shall we?" I said to Andy who nods and throws some order at a guard.

At times like this I could really use some experienced help. Charlie, I thought about Andy's father who was a pack member and Gamma to my father. He was the one who survived the war and helped us three to take over the pack. He was the Gamma until some specific things happened and he lost his right leg. After that Andy took over.

Charlie loved us three like his own. And I always went to him for matters like this. Even though he was better with things like battle strategies and stuff as he was a Gamma, but a little help here and there won't harm.

"Let's go to Charlie first, and discuss about this.", I said and Andy agreed with me.

I don't like this, at all.
