Chapter 19 - Let Me Show You How It's Really Done

As Nine watched how Rainier faced off with her elder brother, she almost felt like covering her eyes. That's how bad it was. For such a controlled individual like Nine, such an act was almost paramount to showing weakness.

The showing they put on was honestly just... pathetic.

She inwardly despaired before controlling herself. That's right. It didn't matter as long as they worked hard. All she had to do was whip them into shape.

She'd never allow anyone to look down on someone who belonged to her. Rainier was hers, and so was Deltan. So, she would make them do better even if she had to use force. Honestly, as long as she trained them hard enough they'd eventually pick up on a couple of things and wouldn't be.. as pathetic as before. She was confident enough in her teaching that she dared to go to a magic school and teach when she had only been immersed in magic for a couple of months, let alone teach something that she already taught back on Earth.

This won't do, she thought to herself. Clearly, both slime and human feel no danger, so they're just playing around.

If Deltan and Rainier knew what she was thinking, they'd probably shed tears. No danger?? They had to work so hard to avoid whatever the other was throwing at them, yet to Nine they were just playing around.

Indeed, to Nine they were messing around. Throwing magic at the other face on while the other rolled to the side to dodge it. If this wasn't playing around, then what was it? There was no finesse, no tactics. It was almost like they weren't using their brains at all! What [Learning and Experience +20%]. If she hadn't seen with her own eyes how the students of her class and gathered a slight haze of magic as they comprehended from her lessons, she'd really believe it wasn't working!

A bit annoyed at her thoughts, Nine grabbed the two of them. Since they weren't learing, it looked like she had to take slightly more drastic measures.

Deltan yelped as he was dumped on the ground. Ah, his younger brother simply didn't treat him as an elder brother at all! Luckily, no one else knew about this.

Looking around, he realized that he was sitting in a dense forest next to that blue slime. Puzzled, he stared at Nine. Why had he brought them here when they were perfectly fine on the roof of the school previously?

"This is the Forest of Calamity. Since you and Rainier aren't proceeding well in your combat, you will train here until I say you've passed."

Deltan gaped. Did he just hear right? The Forest of Calamity? THE Forest of Calamity?? This was practically a forest filled with magic beasts and death! Then, as quickly as he worked himself up, he calmed down again. Wasn't it fine? His brother could use Sixth Tier magic after all.

"I'll demonstrate to you once," Nine said, eyeing both Rainier and Deltan.

The two humans and one slime made their way deeper into the forest, all the way to the innermost area.

"ROARRR!" they heard.

Deltan paled and Rainier wobbled slightly.

A ferocious beast the size of a small-sized house appeared before them. Surprisingly, its steps made no sound for something that was so large. Containing a sleek but explosively muscled body, the magic beast looked like a black tiger with sharply protruding fangs. On the back of the beast was four pitch black wings that had a leathery texture, folded across its back. The tips of the beast's paws were tipped in a faint sheen of black and blue patterns, looking like it had tread through melted metal as the designs curled their way up.

Just looking at its eyes could cause an ordinary person to collapse in fear as their mind was overwhelmed. The beast's eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty and ruthless light, showing its intention and killing intent. Humans were the tastiest, and it hasn't seen any in a very long time.

"S-sixth Tier Magic Beast, Demonic Winged Tiger," Deltan said, a sense of instinctive horror and dread welled up inside him.

A Sixth Tier Magic Beast was able to use Sixth Tier magic! Judging by the patterns on its paw, this one could use both Water and Darkness elements. Even amongst beasts, one that was capable of using Sixth Tier magic was rare, let alone one that could use two!

Deltan hurriedly picked up and clutched Rainier to his chest, staring at his brother in panic. He wanted nothing more than to grab him and leave, but to his despair, his younger brother had already attacked the beast on its face, drawing his attention.

A group of roughly 10 humans was needed to take down a single beast at the same tier of magic. Even though he didn't really like his brother, it didn't mean he wanted for his death! No matter what, they still shared the same blood. He absolutely wouldn't stand by if he was really in danger.

Trembling, Deltan grit his teeth and made to charge forward when he was gently pushed back by a barrier.

"Watch and learn," came Nine's voice, low and reassuring.

Deltan inexplicably calmed down upon hearing his brother's words. A faint feeling surfaced in his heart. He felt like his younger brother would never fall and was indomitable.

Rainier poked Deltan's cheek. What a silly human. Didn't he know that his master was the strongest in the world?

Deltan mistook Rainier's poke as reassurance and looked at the slime gratefully. Suddenly, he felt like the slime was rather cute. Maybe he should get one of his own.

After provoking the Demonic Winged Tiger, Nine stood calmly in front of it. The two of them faced off, both eyeing each other for a show of weakness.

Nine felt a flash of surprise at this. The beast was rather intelligent! It was waiting and learning instead of recklessly charging in. She supposed that in order to reach the Sixth Tier, this tiger had gone through countless battles and experienced baptisms of bloodshed and killing. Its killing intent was dense but controlled, and its muscles were relaxed and could spring into action at any slight movement. Truly, this was a beast that had knowledge and experience. It wasn't inferior to any human, and was probably even better.

A sigh appeared in Nine's heart. If only Rainier and Deltan were like this. The moment she thought that, she retracted it. She was here to help them grow, after all. It would be too tragic if Deltan got offed by some random beast before she had her fill of bullying him.

A wisp of excitement appeared in Nine's eyes. Looks like she could expect a battle today which could put up a fight, unlike her silly elder brother.
