*Wahhhh*, the screams of the newborn child filled the dimly lit room. The child was quickly wrapped in a pink linen blanket before handed back to her mother. With the stars peeking through the mother looked down on her child and cried. As the tears landed on the baby in her arms they were rough and sparkled. Bouncing off the face below her the tears clattered to the ground. The maid quickly gathered them and hid them in the chest at the foot of the bed. "Mistress, what shall her name be?" The mother spoke softly "Serena. Her name shall be Serena." The maid nodded her head gently and left the room.
She walked calmly and stooped from old age. She had been with the Mistress since the Mistress was a child. She gathered the rest of the staff. "The child is a girl. The Young Mistress is named Serena. You will do your best to keep things calm for the next few days. The Mistress is tired and will need plenty of help." All of the staff nodded and verbally agreed. They all were dressed nicely and were clean. Many had jewelry visible. The Mistress was kind to them. She let the families live in the manor with the staff. They would die for the Mistress of the house.
Back in the room, the Mistress held her new daughter closely to her breast. As the child drank from her she continued to weep. The tears that fell from her eyes were the purest diamonds and as they clattered to the ground they scattered and caught the moonlight. She looked towards the star until she spotted the brightest one for the night. It was not a star but a moon. Callisto shone through the window like a beacon of hope. She knew everything would be okay as she stared at it.
Her tears stopped falling and she held a now sleeping child in her hands. She started to sing softly for her daughter. "Rays of the moon seem so bright, but with you in my arms you are the brightest light. Come rest your head on my shoulder and we will dance the evening away. Come lay with me and we will wake tomorrow to start a new day." The Mistress stood and walked to the crib that lay near her own bed and placed the infant inside before crawling into bed and entering the world of dreams.
