Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: March of the Invaders

After the bitter news, I've locked myself in, not talking to anyone,

not eating, and still trying to accept the fact, that sir Fedel is gone. "This

can't be! This is impossible! No, far from impossible, him? Dying? For

real?!" as this thoughts fly through my head, I heard a knock on my door,

*Knock Knock* "Razael are you there?" it was the captain, for him to be

out his office is rare "Look Razael, I know the news is a bitter pill to

swallow, but, what happened already passed us, I am certain that, deep

down, you too know that he is gone." As he said those words, tears

started to flow from my eyes, those are words that I don't want to accept,

words that I know is true, but I don't want to agree to.

"Razael, may I come in?" when I heard this, I opened my door and

let him in my quarters "Hmm, well, you're not the type to lash out, I was

hoping to see mess, but the only mess I see is you." Captain spoke with a

bit of humor, he looked at me with a bitter smile, and wiped the tears off

my face, and told me "Razael, you're not the only one who is mourning,

you lost your father figure, and I lost my closest friend. But, the same goes

for Thea, she experienced a loss as well, she crying and wailing in her

room for the first few moments the news was confirmed." When the

Captain told me this, it made me think about my actions, holing up in my

room, not talking to anyone, not even Thea.

"How childish can I be? Only thinking of what I felt, not considering

the fact that I am not the only one who is hurting." After our talk, the

Captain went back to his office to continue his work, that night I went to

Thea's quarters to talk to her. I knocked on her door, *Knock Knock*

"Thea? Are you awake? It's raza-" I didn't get to complete my words and

the door slammed open as Thea jumped and latched on me, tears we're

running down her cheeks, her eyes we're a little swollen from crying, we

didn't really talked much, in fact, we really didn't talked at all, she just

cried and latched onto me, I carried her and went inside her room and

held, all I did was comfort her, Thea, the strong and independent person I

knew, for the first time in 17 years, cried. It was really rare for her to

show her vulnerable state, but I guess, it's because we share something in

common, we we're both suffering the loss of someone dear to us.

After all our mourning, we eventually came into terms with the facts,

and started to move forward again, doing our routine of doing quests,

accepting requests, helping those in need, well, the last part is just me, but

still, everything went to normal, now knowing that sir Fedel is gone, I

aimed my sights to master becoming a knight, so everyday, when the dawn

just sets in, I go to a nearby forest to train and practice my sword skill

and swordsmanship, I set up dummies everyday and cast basic puppet

spells to make them move as if they we're really enemies, "one, two, three

four, five, six, seven, I think this is enough dummies to train with" I

mumbled to myself as I put them on the ground. And after lining them up,

I started chanting a spell to animate them and make them move.

"Dance in my palms, move and act, for every action, an equivalent

act! Control Spell: Puppet String!" after I cast my spell, the dummies started

to glow and move towards my location "Control and command, puppets in

my hands, move according to what I may have planned! Control Spell:

Binding Commands!" they continue to march towards me, like mindless

drones that is seeking they're master, I shouted "Command: Halt!" and they

stopped in there tracks, "Alright it's working!" "Command: Attack! Condition:

when a weapon is drawn!" and with this final command, I unsheathed my

sword and took a stance, the moment my sword was drawn, the dummies

become hostile and attacked me, without wasting any moment, I tried to

slip through them "Sonic Step!" I dashed right through them and cut down

one of the dummies, once I was through, they pursue me again, "Shadow

Spell: Specter Summon!" I summoned shadow copies of me and confused

them as I position myself, "Sword Skill: Penta Slash!" I swing my sword onto

the enemy and made a crescent-shaped energy projectile that split into

five, when it came to contact with the dummies, it cut them in half, there

are only one more remains standing.

I took a stance to make a break for it and rush it, but suddenly

*Slash!* it was split in two before I could even get near to it, "Too slow

Razael!" Sol said with a grin. "You took me by surprise Sol! what are you

doing here? It's too early for you to be up!" I said kiddingly "Come on

Razael, I'm not that of a slacker, I actually train to!" as we are having this

conversation a rustling came from a bush behind us. *Rustle Rustle Rustle*

as we are poising for defense, *Poof* a face suddenly popped out of the

bushes "Oh! Goodmorning guys!" it was Thea in the bushes! "What the

heck is she doing there?!" "What the heck are you doing there Thea?!" Sol

said with a surprised face "I'm collecting herbs and berries! I need to

forage stuff to make some potions!" Thea said excitedly "Come to think of

it this happened some years ago, when we we're still kids, I still remember

it, like it was just yesterday." "Hahahahaha" I laughed with tears in my

eyes, the two of them looked at me for moment, and then laughed with

me.

When we came back to the guild, the royal wizard was waiting for

us, "Greetings young ones!" "Goodmorning Elder Eldrich" I said as we enter,

"What brings you here elder? Do you have a request for the guild?" Sol

asks. "No no young Sol, im here for you three" the elder said with a smile

"Us? But what for? We already graduated from the academy." Thea asks

with confusion all over her face. "It is time for you young ones to get a

class up!" "E-Ehhh?!" The three of us yelled. The Members of our guild

heard this and went silent, then yelled "WOOOOH! THE TRIO IS GONNA

GET AN UPGRADE!" "THEY CAN NOW BE FULL-FLEDGE TITANS AS WELL"

constant cheers and screams went through out the guild then suddenly,

*Slam* "Shut the hell up! What is all these ruckus about!!" Yelled the

Captain, "Greetings Tempest" Elder Eldrich waved to the captain and took

him by surprise "You're here elder?! Which means!" The captain is getting

excited, then the elder nodded, "EVERYONE DRINK UP, IT'S ON ME TODAY!"

The captain yelled, everyone was celebrating, and for the three of us, we

went upstairs to get ready for the class up.

"Hmm, a class up huh, but what exactly is a class up?" Sol asked,

obviously confused, "Remember how we get to choose one or two of the

seven classes offered at the academy?" Thea asks "Well, yeah, it was

Swordsmanship, Spell Casting, Archery, Assassination, Hand-to-hand combat,

Healing and Knighthood." Sol replied "Well, remember at graduation we

we're bestowed our titles?" "Hmm, kinda?" Sol replied *Sigh* "Well,

basically, once you finished one of those classes, you're gonna get a title

corresponding to the class you finished, Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Assassin,

Fighter, Healer, and Squire plus the special titles we get if we did well

enough." Thea explains "Yeah! Now I remember, I was given the title

"Wolf" when I graduated and was given a Fenrir tome, I took Hand-to-hand

so I classify as a Fighter." Sol said with a grin "Yes, and as for me, I was

given the title "Ice" and was given a Freeze tome. I took Healing and spell

casting, so I'm a Mage and a Healer." Said Thea, as per me, I was sneaking

out while they we're talking, but then Sol Caught me.

"So, Razael, Could you explain to us why you have the Title Mimic?"

Sol said with a scary smile. "Yeah, I actually want to know as well!" Said

Thea with the same scary smile Sol has. "Well uh, Remember the screening

before we can enter the academy to know our affinity for classes?" the

two nodded, "Well, I was kinda, have affinity for every class they offer."

"YOU WHAT?!" The two of them yelled, "To have affinity for everything,

means you can just choose what you want!" Sol yelled "Yeah! You may

attend 3 classes with that!" Thea exclaims. "Erm, you see, I kinda took all

the classes, and when I graduated, they gave me the title "Mimic" and the

Chrono Tome, although I trained for all the classes, I didn't master all of

them, so for me, I just classify as a squire and a swordsman, I actually

can't handle Ether well." I explained to them. "So that's why some of your

spells go from safe to deadly?" Thea asked, "Well, yes and no, my Ether

pool is kinda, big." When Thea heard this, she immediately ran to her

room and rushed back to us, holding an item that looks like a crystal ball

when she came back.

"This is a magic item that can measure someone's Ether pool! We

are gonna check how you're Ether pool sums up!" Thea said while waving

the item. With all the ruckus, the ball slipped from her hands and Sol

accidentally catched it. *Glow* *Hum* The ball lit up, it glows bright, but

not bright enough as a lamp. "Hmm, you actually have quite the Ether pool

for a non spell user Sol!" Thea said with a smile, "Hmph! Not bad huh!"

Sol exclaims, obviously proud of what the ball shows, Thea took and Hold

the ball with two hands and the ball began to glow *Glow* *Hum Hum*

The ball hummed two musical notes, as if it was singing, it was glowing

more brightly, it can potentially serve as a lamp, "Woah, it's so bright

Thea!" Sol excitedly yells "This is the result of the training I went through!"

Thea Smiles while she hands the ball to me, as I hold the ball It began to

Glow, *Glow* *Shine* *Humming and Singing* The ball actually was

shining, it lit up the whole hallway as it sung a song "Oh my… what the

heck is this ?! It's kinda blinding! But the music is really good and

soothing." Sol said with his eyes closed "How did you? What did you?

Raza, you're so amazing!" Thea was jumping up and down in delight! The

captain knew about this but we made sure not to tell anyone about this

cause it might cause an uproar, plus, I still can't handle this Ether of mine,

so I need to train more.

After we gather up our equipment, we went downstairs, the people

at the guild are still celebrating when suddenly, *Slam* the entrance door

slams open, "Emergency! Emergency! There is an emergency!" a scout

rushed in yelling at us. "Hold your horses son, what seems to be the

problem." The captain said to the scout. "We have spotted the enemy! The

Empire of Cronica is on the move!" the guild went silent, once the heard

the news, they immediately stopped and listen to the scout. "We spotted

them north of our kingdom! We spotted One Thousand soldiers setting

camp!" the scout yelled, "One thousand troops?! Isn't that I little small for

an invading force?" "This is just a scouting troop." Captain said "a thousand

troop scouting party what the heck?!" Sol yelled. "Everyone ready for

battle! You scout boy, go and relay to the other guild and guards, we need

to fortify all the entrance points of the kingdom! Hold checkpoints! And

check everyone going in and out of the city!" Captain said as he puts on

his cap, "Aye! Captain!" every member of the guild responded, "Except you

three, you go with the elder and finish you training, you will need it if you

are going to be thrown into the fray!" Captain looked at us with flames in

his eyes, "Yes Sir!" we said, we then make our way to the academy with

the elder to begin our class up training
