Chapter 1 - Prologue

"I wouldn't have expected this to happen."

These were the only words that came from Shi Li's mouth after he died. Oh wait, he doesn't have a mouth anymore, he's already dead.

Before his untimely death, Shi Li was just like any other person, working an office job from 9 to 5, being a law-abiding citizen of the country, and a person who knows how to have fun alone.

Even though this life was monotonous for Shi Li, he knew how to spice it up by reading novels that talk of journeys to immortality. As he read more and more novels, the more eager he gets to hope cultivation exists on Earth.

He went to the neighboring countries, checking the monks and their qi absorption techniques which has similarities to the cultivation techniques to the novels he read, yet it wasn't enough.

He then headed towards the qigong instructors who talked about the meridians and acupoints which store qi. Yet he was disappointed to know that these parts didn't store qi at all.

Without hope in life, he decided to continue working to death until one day, a lightning bolt struck him.

This lightning bolt was extremely peculiar as it struck Shi Li on a sunny day. It didn't come from any sort of cloud or any broken electric pole, it just came out of nowhere as if its purpose was to hit Shi Li.

Shi Li was filled with regret, yet what could he do? He was now reduced to only a measly soul floating in the vast expanse of the universe.

Until suddenly...

Light covered his whole surroundings.

"Agh!" he couldn't help but shriek at the sight of blinding light as he was used to the darkness that his soul was covered in.

Gradually, he became accustomed to the light as details started to fill the void the light left him.

A rough stone ceiling greeted his view as more colors started to invade his visual senses.

"Eh?" Shi Li was confused. All of a sudden, he gained the feeling that he was in a body. It might be his own body, or not, but he was in a body. He had his sense of touch back.

Using this body, he sat up and looked around. There were a lot of beds in this room, with large bay windows showing the lush trees and peaceful environment outside the room.

He could also see some people laying down on the beds with injuries all over their bodies.

Shi Li then looked at himself and saw that he had a large wound on the left part of his chest, which shocked him slightly.

But one fact shocked him more.

"I'm still alive?"
