"What do you mean 'special'?"
Again, she smirked. I had this sudden urge to punch her in the face every time she showed me her annoying smirk.
"I won't tell you." She said as she turned away from me; I could tell she did that purposely.
Before I could retort back, she had floated away and waved goodbye to me.
"I'll tell you later when the time has come!" She said.
I stared at her disappearing back, feeling dumbfounded. I had a feeling that something complicated was heading towards me. She still had not told me about Tom's disappearance, yet she left me hanging with another troublesome matter.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to head back. This time, I knew for sure that no class would be held for today.
After what had happened today, I knew it would a long and tiring day for anyone.
By the time I entered my room, I was greeted by the sight of Tom. He was sitting down on my bed, waiting for me like usual. He turned his head towards me in a creepy manner and it was like a horror sound effect was playing in my head.
However, I noticed his expression was slightly off. I mean, he looked much gloomier and paler than before. It was as if he was becoming more and more like a ghost.
A ghost wouldn't be sick, right?
Still, seeing him in this state made the complaint I had in mind flew away. He didn't even welcome me!!
"Tom?" I called him slowly as I carefully approached him on my bed.
I watched as he blinked his eyes painfully slow, like a super sleepy person who already ran out of energy but still couldn't fall asleep. His eyes looked empty, lifeless, and it worried me.
"Are you okay?" I asked again, but still no response from him. "Tom?"
"...Jane?" His voice came out like a whisper.
Okay, he was not like his usual self.
"What's wrong with you?" I reached out to him but the chilly feeling numbed my fingertips, reminding me that he was not a human.
"I think..." He trailed off.
"What?" I scooted closer to him, try to hear what he said.
"I think I just saw myself." He said in a whisper, but loud enough for me to hear.
His words caught me off guard as I stiffened in response. What did he mean? Did he have any recollection about his past life?
My eyes met his. A flicker of light appeared in his almost lifeless eyes. Emotion rushed in his stoic expression and brought up some warmth. It was as if he was excited after 'seeing' himself.
"Uhum..." I cleared my throat. "W-what did you see? I mean... do you remember something from your past life?"
Hearing my question, he frowned as he fell into deep thought. "Was it just my memory?" He asked, probably to himself.
"What did you see?" I asked.
"I was sleeping alone in a room. But, I don't know where it was." He answered, his eyes were looking at me in confusion.
I raised my eyebrows. "Do you still remember the detail?" Honestly, when I asked this question, I was just messing around with him. I was not even being serious with my question. But, surprisingly, he took it seriously and thought about it.
"It is pretty bright, and the room is mostly white. I remember the window is big and I could see a big tree from the window. But, I couldn't hear anything. I only saw myself laying on the small bed, still sleeping. There is a flower on the nightstand and a book." He explained slowly. He was trying hard to remember it and I found it strange that he could see something so vivid.
"Well, at least you have regained some of your memory. By the way, where were you?" I asked, diverting his attention from his memory.
"I don't know. I was sucked into a black hole and when I opened my eyes, I was standing near the bed where my body was laying." He said in all seriousness.
What did he mean by that?
"After that?" I asked again.
"After that, I was sucked again into the same black hole and appeared here. Then, you came." He said.
I frowned. Based on his explanation, he was only 'seeing' himself for a short while, in reality he had been missing for hours.
What the hell is happening here?
And, what is the black hole?
Why do I feel like we were speaking different languages just now?
