Silence filled the air, as Angus and Ben watch their enemy's movements carefully. The five, armored soldiers stand at the ready. Their flesh fully healed, their claws poised to strike, and their fangs bared. In an instant the silence was broken when the Vampires dashed forward with amazing speed towards Angus and Ben. One by one, they strike at them with full force. Angus blocks the strikes of the three soldiers attacking him with the handle of the axe, and retaliates. He swings his axe with all his strength across all three. The blade connects and chops off a vampire's arm, slices the chest piece of armor of another, and cuts the leg of the leader Alexandru.
As that happened, Ben carefully evades the relentless attacks of his two opponents. As the enemy swings wide to land a blow, Ben rushes in and stabs the monster in the eye. He then quickly fades in to smoke engulfing the other soldier and suddenly three wounds cut across his stomach.
Black blood splatters across the ground as the injured vampires bare with the pain. Alexandru, the leader of the squad of vampires, felt confused and irritated. "What are they?" he thinks. He stared at their weapons, both the Axe of Ramiel, and the Twin daggers of Raphael, perplexed. Their wounds begin to heal. Cuts start to seal once again, severed limbs were reattached, and they stood up once more.
"No normal blade can cut our flesh, and I am pretty sure no normal person can raise stone and create smoke from nothing. What exactly are you gentlemen?" asks Alexandru.
"We do not need to reveal ourselves to pawns of a Demon. Surrender now." replies Angus, staring down at his opponents.
"You think you have beaten us? You accomplished nothing! Look our wounds are healing, there is nothing you can do to stop us and the blessing granted to us by our Lord Luxuria!"
Angus smirks "Why thank you. That's all I needed to know."
"What!?" Alexandru growled
"So its Luxuria who is your master. The Demon of Lust."
"Demon of Lust?" asked Ben
"Yes. Luxuria, one of the Seven Generals of Agares. She feeds on souls to add to her power." Angus explains, "That is how you soldiers got this power right? In exchange for your soul. You fools."
"Shut up! Who are you calling fools you bastard!? So what if you know about our master. You really think you can beat the five of us and get out alive! You can damage us all you want but we will keep healing and-"
Angus strikes his blade at the ground and once again stone spikes rise towards the five vampires.
"You don't learn do you!? We can just move out of the wa-" Alexandru froze, his body ached, and is no longer listening to him. Same is said for the other vampires. The spikes burst out of the ground, piercing the bodies of the vampires. The four other soldiers were pierced in many places including straight through their heart. Alexandru, who was able to dodge some spikes by a fraction, watched as his comrades disappeared in to dust. His shock turned to anger, as the several wounds he received started to heal again.
"Let me tell you something seeing as you are new at this." Angus says "Your power may allow you to heal but unless you are an immortal you will still retain damage."
"Is that why we had a hard time moving?" Alexandru thinks to himself.
"Of course this is probably the first time you have been injured this badly so you didn't know, and I assume your master didn't tell you anything about it."
"How is it you killed my men? Even if you pierced their heart it would heal!?" he snarled at Angus.
"Simple, your powers come from a demon, from evil. Our powers are made to destroy evil." Angus explained, as he walks up in front of him and lifts up his Axe. "Surrender." Alexandru looks up in fear at the mighty opponent approaching him.
"Never!" he screamed in desperation as he suddenly turned in to a blur and dashed around.
"Don't be too cocky you asshole!" Alexandru yells "This is my true power! Speed beyond measure! Even with your strength, you can't kill what you can't catch."
Angus looks to Ben. "Ben be on your guard!"
"I got it!" Ben erupts smoke from his body surrounding the area. "Even if he is fast, the moment he steps in this smoke I'll know where he is." he thought.
Suddenly the smoke to his left quickly parts open. "There! I got hi-" As Ben looked to his side to catch the opponent, his eyes only saw a claw already at his face. Alexandru cuts Ben in the face and knocks him down.
"Nice plan tracking me with the smoke. But that doesn't mean anything! Even if you can track me do you really think you can hit me before I reach you!" Alexandru yells arrogantly.
"Ben! Are you ok!?" Angus yells out of concern. He runs towards Ben, then suddenly in a flash Alexandru crashes in front of him, crushing the ground beneath his feet, and punches Angus in the chest and sends him flying towards a wall. Angus hit the wall but still managed to stand on his feet, glaring at his opponent.
"You are tough I'll give you that, but this is getting annoying. Let's finish this. After I kill you, the boy is next."
Angus dashed forward, with his Axe swung wide. Alexandru dashed in as well, as the two continue their fight.
Meanwhile, back at the house of Syliss, the sounds of the fight have been heard. Agnes and Syliss listen carefully as sounds of tremors, metal screeching and blows echo across the town.
"What's going on over there?" asked Syliss
"I don't know." She said as she clenched her hands worried for Ben and Angus. Another huge tremor erupted, and a cloud of dust rose above the houses. Feeling both fear and worry, Agnes dashed forward toward the battle.
"Agnes! Where are you going!?" yelled Syliss
"They might be in trouble."
"Might? Did you see that explosion!? There is definitely trouble there."
"Look, Ben and Angus are over there fighting who-knows-what. We can't just be hiding here letting them take all the responsibility. This is our town."
Slyiss looked Agnes straight in the eye and gave in to her clear determination.
"Ok fine, say I help you but think for a bit. What can a girl and a guy on a chair do? There is probably a bunch of soldiers with cannons over there."
Agnes gave off a smile "Follow me!"
Angus continues to defend against the unrelenting attack. Alexandru's image was that of a blur, laughing at Angus, feeling arrogant. As the battle raged on, Agnes and Syliss peek out the side of the building witnessing the unbelievable fight. Before their eyes, they see Angus defending against a man-like creature moving incredibly fast, and Ben laying on the ground.
"Ben!" exclaimed Agnes, as she and Syliss rush over to him.
Ben opens his eyes seeing his daggers now gone, and Angus fighting against Alexandru. "What are you two doing here? Its dangerous. You have got to hide."
"We can say the same about you you know." argued Syliss.
Agnes puts his arm over her shoulders and lifts him up slowly to his knees. "Come on."
"I can't, Angus is still fighting." he says as blood slowly drips from three cuts across his cheek.
"We want to help, but you are hurt. We need to get you out of here first." said Agnes.
"Agnes let's be realistic. I know we said we would help but this is beyond what we thought. We expected cannons, and soldiers. This is a monster!" Syliss said.
"Y-yes but he hasn't noticed us. We should be able to do something." She said nervously looking at the intense battle just a stones throw away from them.
"Well what was your brilliant plan?"
"Well there's a large water tank just above where they are fighting, I thought we could cut it down over the enemy." Explained Agnes, pointing to a water tank on top of a two story house.
"We can't even see that thing, and it will notice us if we try."
"We just need to cut that thing down right?" interrupted Ben.
"W-what are you thinking? Don't be crazy, you're already hurt pretty bad. You can't do anything the way you are right now!"
"So because I am like this I should just do nothing? I'm already useless?" Ben replied, as thoughts of his grandpa getting hurt and Angus getting cut by the wraith flow through his mind. Hearing those words made Syliss froze. He recalls the moments people belittled him for his handicap, and how he felt useless.
"I am never going to let that happen again." Ben continued "As long as I can breath I am not letting people close to me get hurt."
Agnes feels her heart beat stronger upon hearing those words. Suddenly their argument was interrupted by a loud slam cause by Angus' axe, as it cut deep in to the ground. "Too slow!" yelled Alexandru, who narrowly evaded the attack.
" What is that thing? Its incredibly fast." said Syliss
"Angus said its called a Vampire. They use to be people who sold their souls to a Demon." They both fell silent for a moment trying to absorb what they just heard, but seeing it in front of their eyes, they couldn't argue, nor was there time to.
"What are you going to do?" asked Agnes
"Your plan was to cut that water tank down right? If it can hit that guy, it can slow him down enough for Angus to finish him off."
"So how are you going to do it?" asked Syliss.
"Just stand back." Ben said. He then bolted straight to the building.
"Ben! Wait!" yelled Agnes
"Ohh! The other one is awake now. Come to fight me again boy!?" Alexandru yells arrogantly, turning his glance to Ben.
"Ben what are you up to?" Angus thinks. Ben looks Angus in the eye and looks at the tank hinting to Angus. "I see. Let's go."
"Hey Vampire! Dodge this!" yells Angus as he slams the bottom of the axe to the ground beneath him. In that instant spikes of stone burst out around the radius of Angus' attack. The Vampire leaps up evading the attack. "Ha! You think that could hit me!?" Suddenly a stream of smoke erupts towards him. As it got closer, he sees red eyes and two blades charging quickly towards him. The smoke flies through cutting the side of his cheek. "Nice try!" he said as he opens his wings to stay in the air.
"I wasn't aiming for you." The large, water tower starts to collapse towards Alexandru. He attempts to evade it with his speed but his body froze from the accumulated damage, and starts to fall towards the stone spikes. "No, not now!" he thinks. In a moment, water erupted and floods the area around them as Alexandru fell to the spikes then crushed by the wooden tank.
Everyone stayed silent for a moment wondering if it was all over. In the spur of the moment Syliss yells "You did it! I can't belie-" Suddenly, Alexandru burst out of the rubble with his armor destroyed, his body filled with deep cuts, and a hole in the middle of his chest exposing the side of his heart still beating. Both Syliss and Agnes felt petrified by what they saw, and Syliss was even more shocked as to why Ben and Angus didn't seem as shaken up as they are. "Just who are these people?" Syliss thought.
"You little shit!" screamed Alexandru in pain and anger, "Look what you have done to me!"
"Don't go blaming others. You did this to yourself when you thought you could defeat us." inserted Angus, "Why aren't you healing? No strength left?"
Alexandru became desperate. He felt trapped between the man behind him with incredible strength, and the boy with smoke flowing from his body in front of him, standing on top of the building. His thoughts became hectic, looking for a way to escape. He look to his side and a grin appears on his face. He disappeared all of a sudden, catching Angus and Ben off guard. When he reappeared he kicked Syliss away, rolling him across the road, knocking him unconscious and off his chair, and grabbed a hold of Agnes.
"What are you doing!? Let go of me!" She screamed, as Alexandru held her around her neck and waist, with his head leaning on hers.
"No! Agnes!" exclaimed Ben, as his expression filled with rage.
"Release her! Or I swear to you, you wont live to regret it!" yelled Angus.
"What's wrong boy?! You don't like me holding your little friend here? Too bad, I seem to like how this bitch feels!" he sniggered as he licked Agnes across her cheek. "She tastes good too. I wonder how her blood will taste like."
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Ben screamed as he prepares to jump in.
"YOU MAKE ONE MOVE AND YOU WONT BE SEEING THIS BITCH IN ONE PIECE AGAIN!"
Ben stands down, holding in his anger, afraid to make sudden moves.
"Oh, by the way, my master did tell teach us something." he says to Angus, " If we happen to bite someone and not kill them, they will become like us too." As those words flowed through the air Angus and Ben stood unable to do anything.
"So what is it you hate more boy?" he says to Ben as he moves his hand to Agnes' breast, "The fact that I am touching her right now or her turning in to something like me?"
Ben's blood begins to boil "I swear I'm going to destroy you, if its the last thing I do!"
As this is happening, Syliss slowly regains consciousness. He looks up and sees Agnes being held by the vampire. The vampire's hand molesting her. "What are you doing you pervert!?" yelled Syliss.
"Oh, you were still alive? I don't have time to deal with trash like you. There is nothing you can do anyway."
"He is right." He thinks to himself "There is nothing I can do. I can't even protect my friend. All I can do is talk big and run away...or roll away. DAMN!" As tears start to flow from his face a familiar voice speaks to him.
"Is she someone important to you?"
"You again? How is this possible? That wasn't a dream."
"You didn't answer my question. Is she someone you want to protect?"
Alexandru holds down Agnes by her forehead and breast, now exposing her neck. Syliss watched as Alexandru opens his mouth and his fangs slowly inches closer to her flesh. Ben charges in out of desperation, the fangs start to pierce her skin and he fears he is too late. All of a sudden Alexandru is blown away by an invisible force, and Agnes disappears. "What the heck was that you brat!?" yelled Alexandru. Ben looks to his left and sees Syliss now standing, wearing white boots, carrying a white and exquisite bow, and carrying Agnes in his arms.
"I'll make you pay for everything you did to her you asshole." announced Syliss standing on the other side of the battlefield.
"Give her back to me!" screamed Alexandru, as he dashes towards Syliss at full speed. As he closed in at Syliss attempting to grab Agnes, Syliss vanished in front of his eyes and reappeared beside Angus.
"This is impossible! No one is faster than me!" he complained
"Can you keep her safe?" he asked Angus.
"Leave it to me." Angus replied, "So you had the stone all along huh?"
"Wait...how do yo-"
"We can talk about that later. First things first." Angus said pointing at the vampire with his axe.
"Right." Syliss disappears again and appears beside Ben. "Sorry about trying to steal your jacket."
"It's ok." replied Ben looking pretty impressed. "Nice to see you are still standing."
"Agreed." They shift their attention back to Alexandru.
The desperate vampire focused on the girl and dashed forward. Before he could even pass Ben, a boot kicks him across the face, and sends him crashing to a wall. "You're too slow." Syliss said.
Alexandru gets up when a knife slashes infront of him. He dashes to the side evading Ben's attack. He faces Ben when a cloud of smoke follows and a dagger flies through the hole in his chest.
"Ha! You missed boy!" He yelled arrogantly
"I wasn't aiming for you. You always fall for that don't you?" Alexandru looks behind him and Syliss catches the dagger and before his feet touch the ground again a dagger had already pierced through his heart. "How does it feel when someone touches your chest old man?"
Alexandru pulls out the blade and even touching the handle burns him causing him to drop it on the ground. "This isn't over." he declared as he vanishes.
"Wai-" Ben screams before he is interrupted.
"Don't worry. I got him." Syliss said already pulling his bow, as what seems to be an arrow of light builds on the bow.
He releases the bow, sending the beam of light shooting across the road. The arrow of light passes straight through the vampire's head, before flying across the distance and fades. Alexandru's corpse starts to whither in to dust and is blown away by the wind.
They stare at each other, as the fact that the battle is over sinks in. Syliss and Ben catch their breath.
"This is a nice knife." said Syliss. The dagger turns to smoke and returns to Ben. "What? I was going to give it back." Syliss laughed
"I know. Nice bow." Ben responded with a smile. In that instant the boots and Ben's daggers disappear and Syliss collapsed.
Ben catches him and puts him down slowly. "You ok?"
"Yea I'm fine. It did say I couldn't keep it up for a long period of time. I feel really exhausted." Ben didn't question it as he had a pretty good idea to what he meant.
"I'll go get your chair."
Ben helped Syliss back on his chair and immediately they both rushed over to Angus and Agnes. "Is she alright?" they asked Angus as Agnes laid down unconscious.
"I don't know. There are marks where the fangs must have pierced her but its not that deep. I'm letting it bleed as an extra measure." Angus says as small drops of blood slowly drip out of her neck.
"How can we know for sure?" As they pondered on it Angus noticed something strange. It was for a brief moment but he remains unsure. A bold of black energy sparked out of the wounds for a fraction of a second then black drops mixed in the blood were forced out of her body.
"I'm sure she will be fine." Angus said wondering what he saw. "For now we have to take her back to the inn. The doctor is probably there watching over Ricardo."
They make their way back to the inn, with Agnes on Angus' back. Syliss feels a little out of place going along with them. "So, Syliss was it?" asked Angus.
"Yea that's right."
"What's your full name?"
"Velox. Syliss Velox."
"Well Syliss Velox, after we sort everything out, would you like to come with us?"
"With you? Why?"
"We can talk about that later. But one thing is for sure. You are now one with the Spirit of Charity. You are one of us."
