Chapter 4 - Illusion : The Wifebeater Path (2)

'Time to die...' Well, I couldn't exactly say I won't die here.

Seeing her now grey fingernails bend and stretch into sharp lethal weapons, and her body move at such a deadly speed, there is no way I can avoid her. I'm only able to perceive her movements because of my experience, but my newborn body is in no way trained enough to evade this... frenzied charge. Even if my newborn body has grown into that of an adult, it has grown into the body of an unfit adult human for this scenario. Strangely, she avoided any vital parts of my body, leaving deep gashes on my legs and arms, and then began her frenzied charge once more.

"Hehe, I might as well play with my prey," it licked its cracking lips as it let out a slight cackle, before once again charging at me crazily.

'Well, I might as well give up now,' and with the thought that many viewers thought was going through my mind, my body went limp, as if to accept its fate.

[Many viewers believe you have given up, and believe you to be a .]

These messages appear only after you have realized at least one scenario is an illusion. It is a form of test feedback, similar to a fitness tracker, but your personality and other fight-or-flight factors are taken into consideration. Input from viewers will be given in real-time, and their opinions can be removed or changed real-time too, but it is very rare for official opinions to come in real-time. It is all to help gain an 'accurate' understanding of your attribute development, but it can be miserably abused by someone who has experienced it before, like me.

". Heh, you couldn't be anymore wrong." I let out a slight whisper, barely audible to the viewers.

[Many viewers are sizing up your limp body suspiciously.]

'It' noticed what I was doing, but it was far too late for it to stop the momentum of its frenzied charge of death. By the time my back had harshly hit the glass covered ground, her collar bone was directly above my raised hand.

With the glass shard in hand, I jabbed it into her collar with the cry of a man that had obtained certain victory, "HAH!"

[A few trained eyes that are able to keep up with the speed of the scenario are watching with wide eyes, unable to contain their disbelief!]

This is the advantage of having prior knowledge of how the scenarios operate. A scenario like this would be a newbie scenario, which would mean the main conflict of the scenario would have obvious patterns, but that doesn't mean the solutions come without a little bit of effort. If I were normal newborn, I wouldn't even had made it this far, but lets say I was a one in ten-thousand newborn, then I'd have at least discovered 'it' to be fake. However, being able to find a method to kill the 'bully' in your first scenario, and especially as a newborn, is practically unheard of. I might as well make a bit of a name for myself.

Returning my focus to the sound of tearing flesh, I watched as the shard traced a fatal line of blood making its way from 'its' collar bone, to in between their thigh. I can't imagine the thoughts that must've been going through its illusionary mind at this moment, me, a newbie, thwarting its advances.

A look of shock appeared on her face, before she acknowledged the pain through the middle of her body and the sudden light-headedness coming from such an sudden loss of blood, letting out a disbelieving tortured scream, "Wha- Ah...AHHHHH!!!"

It was much easier to do, especially since the conflict didn't continue to garner the guise of Alice. If this was any higher in difficulty, they would've attempted to maintain the appearance, voice, and tendencies of Alice the entire scenario. Perhaps, they'd even attempt to haunt me with the death of my child, or the torture I put myself through on Earth.

'I couldn't have watched Alice slowly die, not again, not after I've had a lifetime of watching her fragile body slowly die.'

'It' hit the wall, dragging the curtain covering the window above the place of impact down, draping its face in the crimson of both the curtains and the fountain of blood escaping from her body.

"Y-you will... regret..." it choked on the thick air of death as it glared at me with its dimming eyes.

Golden light broke through the tension of the scenario as a feminine voice whispered into my ears the results of the scenario,

[The Demon-Hunting Wifebeater Path has been completed!]

[Overall Difficulty : Predictable, Very Easy (Newbie)]

Overall difficulty refers to how difficult it would be to any Demonic Entity above newborn status, and this scenario would've definitely been completed in less than a second by one of them.

[Personal Difficulty : Unpredictable, Impossible (Due to newborn status)]

However, it is impossible for a confused newborn to get a handle fast enough to injure, let alone kill, the conflict, especially without an attribute.

[Current Viewer-Based Personality/Traits Index : 1% , 35% , 55% , 7% , 2% ]

'Haha,' and of course, the viewers are all over the place with the traits they believe I may have.

[Current Official Personality/Traits Index : 100% ]

'Oh?' Now, this is not something I expected. It may be difficult to judge any newborn based on their first scenario, but there are usually a couple of higher ups that have at least a broad trait as an answer...

"Alright, 'Wifebeater,' it is time to wake up!"

"This is unheard of..."

"Another..."

"Could they have been planted on the nursery site?"

"No, there is no way. The technician at the scene was a senior, and they confirmed that the soul condensed and solidified in the normal manner."

"Then maybe their first words should garner some concern.... don't you all agree there?"
