Chapter 2 - Chapter I ~ Thirty Years Later

Alice sat quietly staring at her feet on the ground. She didn't want to look around the room, afraid of what she would see. She didn't want to see the torn curtains behind her by the broken window or the blood on the floor by the piano. She didn't want to remember anything that went on in that room or any other for that matter. The detective sitting in the chair across from her was who she wanted to forget most of all. "Alice you can ignore me all you want, I'll just be back again tomorrow. We have been over this several times now and something about your story doesn't add up. I have been making these visits for over a month now and I think it's time you told me what you are leaving out. The trial is still going to happen regardless of you talking or not." The detective explained impatiently pausing for a moment. He signed a deep breath before going on. "However I think it is in your best interest to tell me the full truth, right now all the evidence is stacked against you." He paused again staring at Alice waiting for some response; Alice knew the detective was right.

"How can I tell you anything? You wouldn't believe any of it to begin with." Alice asked finally looking up at the detective; He grinned knowing he finally got to her.

"Try me, I bet I'll believe every word and if you think no one else will...." He closed the notebook he had been writing in and set it to the side. "Then this will be off the record." With that said the detective folded his hands in his lap and once again awaited her response. Alice smiled dimly but only for a moment.

"Alright detective I will start again from the beginning and leave nothing out. I will tell you exactly what happened as I remember it happening. The story that began thirty years ago when I was only seven, that was the first time I discovered it. The second time I was seven and a half just a few months later, but that wasn't the end of it. Now thirty years later I visited a third time and that is the story I will be telling you today." Alice looked back down at her feet again being the only place in the room she could look with comfort. "The place I'm talking about, the place I discovered all those years ago, it is a place called Wonderland.
