He was the most beautiful being in that world, he knew that much. Everyone worshipped him for his kindness, loved him for his looks. Most of all, they feared him for his powers. The power of the God of Light. They were hypocritical, that much he knew.
This man, the man who he was occupying held a lot of secrets. He had this other side of him, a darker, more evil side that no one ever noticed. Everyone became his underling, and they only knew that the God of Death was the only one who could contend against him. But the God of Death never made a move.
The God of Death was him, after all.
The Zombie King felt the body of an immortal, a God. He felt powerful, and pure, way more than his past body felt. After travelling for probably all his life, he felt like he could settle in the last one. Being an immortal Zombie. But, as it turned out, he got bored, no one to accompany him. Like a millennia in that space, where every travellers stayed.
If only he wasn't forced to kill that boy though, such an interesting entity, and was probably one who would be able to travel.
A boy, three years of age, arrived in a rural church that was barely holding itself together. The bishop, Nathan, looked ecstatic to receive him, while his assistant, the deputy bishop, didn't look all that well. The boy was dropped off by his mother, who was probably crying rivers.
The mother, a Holy Maiden candidate, was a beautiful one. If not for a sudden ailment that caused her to lose her Light Magic abilities, she would be able to be a Holy Maiden. The mother married the bishop of the main church, in this kingdom called Fu Xing. Together, they had two children.
The boy was the younger.
"Mother, don't cry," the boy consoled his mother, very sensible for his age. Although he knew what he would possibly face, he still consoled his mother. No son of a head bishop was ever sent to a rural church under any circumstances. However, everyone knew of the cold head bishop called Liang Xue, very ambitious and I was definitely not a good father.
His first daughter had an average face, but high Light Magic abilities, thus he raised her up, showed her off to everybody, making them know of her existence as if she was the star of the show. Compared to that, her brother... not so much. Only now did Bishop Nathan knew of the three year old. Even if the church was in a rural place, by no means would Liang Xue having a son take more than three years to reach his ears. He was past eighty, but he wasn't stupid.
"Welcome, Madam Liang," he greeted, "is this... your son?"
Madam Liang looked at the boy, who looked at her assuringly. She knew that this was Liang Xue's method of getting rid of him, but she couldn't bring herself to send her son away. She saw that look, as if telling her that he would just be gone for a trip. She remembered that she this was sending their son to his death, but again...
That cold ambitious man did not even name him...
"Yes, he is Liang....Xingbai," Madam Liang smiled, rubbing the child's head, "he is my precious little son. My husband decided to send him here to be a disciple before deciding anything. Please take a good care of him."
Bishop Nathan nodded. It was obvious that the head bishop didn't name his own son. He just looked at the child, very tender and soft, like how all three year olds were supposed to be. The boy had Light Magic, but it was miniscule.
Like usual, they decided to pray to the God of Light before accepting the boy.
In his heart, the deputy bishop wished that the boy's presence was rejected, so that he was brought away, and perhaps thrown away into the dangerous forests. He wasn't stupid, and he wasn't kind either.
They walked towards the prayer hall, a tall hall with marble statues, and a golden statue of the God of Light. The marble statue of this church was slightly chipped with moss covering some of them, while altar... was in a perfect condition.
First, they changed Liang Xingbai into a white, priest robe, and asked Madam Liang to also change into a white, priest robe. The two looked like a stunning pair of mother and child. Both the bishop and deputy bishop changed into their respective clothes and together, they walked into the prayer hall.
The four of them knelt on in front of the altar, Bishop Nathan and the deputy bishop at front and Madam Liang and Liang Xingbai behind them. They felt the hall become isolated, something unique to prayers.
The God of Light looked at the two active prayer halls, the main church, and the rural church in Star County. The Kingdom of Fu Xing was extremely interesting, having an old fanatic as a Pope, and a man with a blackened heart as a deputy bishop. But, when he paid more attention...
Bishop Nathan was praying intently. He prayed that Liang Xingbai was accepted. Suddenly, he heard.
'Let the child look at me.'
This was the first time he heard the Father's voice, he stood up and looked at Liang Xingbai. The deputy bishop was excited. The boy would be thrown out to fend for himself, for sure. But contrary to his expectations, Bishop Nathan's face was glowing.
"Boy," the bishop grinned, "look at the Father, he would like to take a good look."
The deputy bishop frowned, but he could not show the fact that he wasn't praying at all. He kept his praying position and pretended to pray. He kept listening in though.
"Yes bishop," Liang Xingbai replied before looking up. To everyone's surprise, the face was clear, glowing, and his eyes were shining. But...to the God of Light - no, the Zombie King...
He recognized those eyes anywhere.
