Rhaegah wakes up from a pleasant dream... Something that had not happened in ages. He sat up putting his hand over his face to shield from the little ray of
light forcing it's way through the parting of the curtains. He walks into the bathroom to take one of the longest showers he'd had in a while, put on a sleeveless black top with black pants and headed out of his room.
He walks down the stairs with his herbal mix in hand then walks to the kitchen sparing Herke a glance. He begins to blend the herbal mix as soon as he gets there. Herke stares into the kitchen with curious eyes. "What does that do anyway?"
"Let's just say it helps with stress" Rhaegah replied not stopping in his current action. He takes the herbal mix along with syrup for his cold. Ignoring Herke's continuous stare he walks back and takes a seat waiting for the 'Zing' feeling the mix always provided letting him know it had begun to take effect.
"Who knew the great dragon-born could catch a cold" Herke teased from the couch across him. Rhaegah chuckled lightly while staring at the syrup container and wondering how indeed a dragon-born could catch a cold.
'Just how does a dragon catch a cold?' he thought to himself
'Wait a minute.... How did I catch a cold?'
'Who did I get it from?"
'I've been with just members of Legion this past week'
'Did one of them have a cold?"
'Herke's in the clear... He's been fine'
'Nygel seems like the type to catch something else'
'Auia?...Then how does a water manipulating elf catch a cold?"
'Can iceman catch a cold? And if so would he then need something hot?'
All these questions raced through his mind as he wondered why he was still feeling the after effects of the initial zing.
'Hold up..... Initial zing?! When did the first one hit?!'
'At what point in my train of thought did I feel the first one?' He looks up at Herke who had no clue of the battle Rhaegah was facing in his mind. "Well at least you've disposed of the container" Herke then spoke not sparing a glance "I was beginning to wonder how long you intended to stare at it" he added. "What do you mean dispoooooooos-?"
The words died in his throat as indeed the container was not in hand. Rhaegah began to wonder when he got up in the first place.
'When did I get up?'.....'He said I'd been staring for a while, but how long is a while?'
He began to recall a similar event a few months back when he was trying to figure out how he caught a cold.
'WHAT THE!!! That was right now'
'I'm losing it..... Calm yourself Rhae' He processed these thoughts before opening his eyes.
"You have to make up your mind" Herke's voice snapped him out of it. "What?! About what?" he asked still in a daze from what his mind put him through. "The swords or the bow.... Which do you want to train with?" Herke asked again. "Train?... What th-"
Again words failed Rhaegah who realized on looking around, that they were in the underground basement with his training gear on. "Just when did we get here?" he finally snapped.... Not able to make sense of the situation.
'The basement? When did we leave the house?'
'Did we come here directly from home?'
'Though come to think of it.... I've never really noticed the view from my window'
'Window? Wait...WINDOW?!!'
He grips the syrup container tightly as shock got the better of him. Feeling the object in his hand, he turns to see what he was holding.
'Wait.....Container, living room..... MY HOUSE?!' Rhaegah freaked as he was still in the chair he was sitting on when he left the kitchen while holding the syrup container in hand and Herke not paying him any attention.
'ZING!'
'You have got to be kidding me' Rhaegah sat in place.... Deep in thought. He always felt he was a bit too close to insanity but this was something else.
'A third zing?!'
'But if I'm still here then does that mean it's still the second?'
'Or the FIRST?!'
Rhaegah's mind was now in pandemonium as he shot up and made his way to the kitchen for a glass of water to quench his already dry throat and of course wash his face. The feeling of chilled water took him back to a cold rainy morning where he had a similarly chilled drink of water while walking out the house with a friend. 'Been a while since I've seen Tomi' he said snapping out of his flashback
"I've told you countless times... Her name is Thylia" Herke's voice shot into his ears. "Oh right..... Yeah sure, so how long have you been crushing on her?"
"Crush...?" Herke's raised eyebrow reminded Rhaegah that this fresher was new to earth's manner of speaking. "Right.... I mean how long have you liked her?" Rhaegah teased "I respect her if that is what you speak of" Herke exclaimed, his face turning red. "Whatever makes you sleep at night" Rhaegah replied with a knowing smirk.
"And it's also not the kind of relationship you and your friend share" Herke added
"Friend?" now it was Rhaegah's turn to be confused as the statement brought all sorts of questions. "Precisely" Herke replied "I mean the friend you were walking with under the rain that morning"
"I said that out loud?!" Rhaegah was now convinced he was losing his mind.
'So have I been talking out loud this whole time?' he heard himself ask in his mind as he scanned the area. "Yes you have..... And you still are" Herke stated matter-of-factly
"WHAT THE ACTUAL F-?!!"
"You've been talking to yourself for a while now"
"A WHILE?!!!" Rhaegah could no longer keep his composure 'Didn't I already ask that?'
"Since you put the container away" Herke stated again this time showing more concern. "Again with the bloody container?" Rhaegah screamed now frustrated beyond reason.
"Again?" Herke asked still having no idea what was wrong with him.
"Never mind.... Just put the bow back up while I get this console working"
Rhaegah thinks about how long he'd been dreaming of the impossible to happen. All those years of gaming and constant anime always trying to imagine how his life would turn out in his own fantasy story. He had convinced himself to keep his imagination and reality separate but now he is training with someone from another world..... Another world no less.
"Prepared for tomorrow?" Herke asked after putting up the bow. "What's happening tomorrow?" Rhaegah asked with a display of his hands as though to emphasize the question. "We're going back..... The mission to find Neban" he replied sternly. "But we just got back yesterday" Rhaegah was now completely lost. "Precisely" Herke said in a low tone "Tight after Lady Thylia left"
Herke was immediately wrapped in a dark mana. Rhaegah could only watch in confusion as Herke was consumed by the mana and was charging towards him.
Rhaegah's reflexes kicked in and he leaps out of the way landing next to his swords.
"YOU ATE THEM ALL!!!" Herke screamed from where Rhaegah jumped from. In a mere moment Herke was right next to Rhaegah grabbing him and staring coldly at him with killing intent.
"What the hell?!! Ate what?!"
"The chips damn you..... The chips!!!" Herke was now beginning to tremble with rage.
"Chips?...Wait, don't tell me-"
Rhaegah snapped out of it to find himself on the chair, container in hand as a sense of extreme unease took him over.
'ZING!'
"Okay that's it... Gotta head for school"
