Chapter 4 - Chapter Three: The Gloomy Blonde Guy

Fil stopped at River Park inside a subdivision, where rich people stay. This is where the Chase guy asked to drop him off. She turned off her bike and jump off, following where he was going.

The riverbank had several benches in placed and there was a park bridge connecting to the other side of the river. On the other end, there is a gazebo and more loveseat benches. There were light posts in a curvy pathway that leads to bushes of flowers. It was a garden style park and all the benches, gazebo and lights posts are painted in white. She was enjoying the fresh air and the flowing dark water under the moonlight. It looks pretty romantic but their situation isn't. They met at a bar, she was the one driving, the guy is drunk and he insulted her, not romantic, indeed.

The guy stood near the river, removed his jacket and set it on the grass to sit on it. He was wearing a vest same color with this tux and a white long sleeve shirt under it. The guy patted the space beside him, inviting her to sit. She hesitated at first but she ushered herself beside him. The amount of alcohol she drunk earlier is starting to take effect. She sat with her legs lifted where she can hug it. She can feel the cool breeze brushing on her exposed neck, so she decided to remove her bun.

The guy was looking at the dark sky with his legs stretched straight forward and his arms on his sides supporting his body weight. He released a heavy sigh then he broke the silence.

"Thanks for the roller coaster ride. I badly need that to shake off everything," he muttered with a bit of sadness in the tone.

She looked at him and he was still looking up. Fil can see sadness on his face. She wondered that maybe the guy intended to get lost in that noisy bar.

"Shake what off?" she asked, trying to dig more.

Chase shook his head and let out a heavy sigh again, "She was supposed to say yes today."

She was getting a little idea on what he said but asked further more. Sticking her nose a little bit can do no harm.

"Who was?" asking him with a soft voice.

He sat up straight and crossed his legs. Then he bent forward placing his elbows on his legs while shuffling his hair with frustration. She can no longer count how many sighs he made.

"My bride," he heartlessly released a small laugh," I mean my future wife, no my ex fiancé. Oh fudge! I don't know what to call her."

"A bitch." she retorted.

He instantly turns his head towards her, looking bemused, "What did you say!?"

He shouted at her but she let it go, instead she lay down on the grass, supporting her head with her arms and placing his right leg on her left. She focused on the dark starry sky above to calm herself before answering.

"Obviously you we're ditched on your wedding day. Tell me a non-bitch girl, saying yes to a proposal then preparing and spending tons of cash for the wedding, but rejected you before the I Do part?"

His mood changed to gloomy again and lay down beside her. Their elbows are almost touching which make her flinched, so she moved to get a little distance.

"You may be right." he agreed.

"Oh I'm always right." Fil affirmed.

"She was so beautiful walking down the aisle. Her veil was covering her entire face. The distance was giving me a hard time seeing her face. I couldn't wait to see her beautiful face, it's as if I just want to run towards her and lift her to the altar, but when her face was getting more visible behind the veil I saw a hesitant face." he stopped, " I was expecting a smiling face but her face showed that she don't want to get closer. She did not focused on me but kept looking on her sides. And when I met her eyes she stepped back and shook her head. I was about to step forward but she turned back and ran away. I was run after her but the moment I arrived outside, she was already in a car and they drove fast. I was left there puzzled and broken."

"Has your ex been watching Runaway Bride? Was she planning to be like Maggie Carpenter?" she irritably stated.

"It's not in your personality to watch those 90's chick flicks." he sneered.

She suppressed the idea of the Runaway Bride. She unintentionally spilled her secret.

"Uh-I just made that up. I didn't know there's such a movie." she faltered. The uneasiness made her sat back. He heart was throbbing rapidly. She exhaled and to calm her feeling. She has been watching too much Julia Roberts' movies these days. Maybe that's why she suddenly popped up her mind and blabbed about it. No way will she let a stranger know her clandestine rituals.

The guy chuckled, "Every girl watches those kinds of stuff. They always dream of a romantic encounter and a fairly tale happy ending. But I wonder why she ran off? I'm definitely a Knight in Shining Armor."

Fil suddenly felt sick of his overconfidence. She gestured as if he was throwing up, to show her disgust. The guy cackled and sat back. Then there were silence again.

Talking to a guy she just met is really hard. Topics don't easily pop up unlike to those you knew. Every second of silence feels like eternity and it pressures her to start a conversation.

"Hey!" he ended the silence with a yell.

"What?" she jerked back glowering at him.

"Face me." Chase ordered. He moved and was waiting for her to shift her position to face him.

"Who gave you the right to order me?" she was feeling uncomfortable having him in a close distance.

"Please??" Chase was pleading with his both hands intertwined together like praying. He flashed his bright beautiful teeth and his puppy sea green eyes.

She gave up and released a breath. She moved to face him. They were both sitting crossed legs, facing each other.

"What now?" Fil asked, raising her eyebrow.

"I fit the Prince Charming type right?" he asked why intently making an eye contact with her.

She rolled her eyes, trying so hard to escape and be caught by his gaze. She looked on the side, up, and even down but he was so persistent to capture her eyes. She intentionally motioned her head into different direction and he was following back.

He groaned and sounded annoyed. He touched her cheeks with both hand and she instantly froze. She felt like a lightning bolt hit her body. The touch of his skin didn't allow her to make any movements. He held his face and kept it same level as his.

"Quit struggling," he was holding her face and locking his look at her. She felt imprisoned the moment he caught her eyes. It was so strong like she is bound to him like a captive. She was drawn to his face like an opposite magnetic pole, that has no way but to attract. He was inching closer, for her to have a closer look on his face.

"Tell me? Do I look like a prince?" he asked.

She knows that alcohol has taken power over this guy plus his heartache. He was desperately asking for an assurance, that there was never wrong on who he was. That he was the perfect groom. And he didn't do anything wrong for his bride to leave her in the altar.

Despite of the drunkenness, Fil saw how extremely good-looking he was. His tousled dark blonde hair constantly bounced. He did a very alluring gesture everytime runs his hand onto his hair. His thick eyebrows paired with his sea green expressive eyes add up to his playful yet strong aura. He has a perfectly shaped nose and thin puckered lips that runs over his chiseled jaw line. His face is close to perfection. She can see that he has a lean built. His muscular arms are bulging under his long-sleeved buttoned shirt. He is also standing an approximate of 6' foot tall which is perfect for him.

He does look like a prince. A perfect leading man. A guy that looks extremely hot in his groom tuxedo. The person you would love to see wearing his armor and sharp edge sword.

A prince charming... an idea crossed over her. A sudden thought run into her mind. Chase is a perfect prince charming. The possible leading man to her love story. However, they met at a wrong place and situation. Not passing to her preferred love encounter. He can't be. It's not just the right place.

She shook her but his hands are still on her face. He again pulled it up and looked at her and is waiting for an answer. She removed his hands and glared at him. She let out a breath and cross her arms.

"Okay, you look like one." she mumbled.

"What sorry I can't hear you?" he motioned closer.

"I said you look like one," she repeated but still murmuring.

"Stop mumbling, I can't hear it clearly. Whisper it into my ears," He shifted his head and leaned his left ear closer.

"You do," she whispered.

"I do what?"

"Look like one."

"Look like what?"

Fil's starting to get pissed. This guy is really a push button. He kept stepping into her nerves.

"A frog!!!!" she shouted to his ears.

"Ooowww!!! What the..?" Chase moved back and rubbed his damaged ears," I told you to whisper not shout."

"Your deaf and looks like a frog."

"A frog that was a prince."

"Yeah. yeah.."

"So I will turn into one, once I receive a true love's kiss." Reassuring himself.

"You're not a damsel in distress."

"I'm a Knight in Distress."

"Then I'm a Damsel in Shining Armor."

They both laughed and looked at the dark water. It was a nice talk. Brief but made her laugh. Chase threw a stone at it and it bounced three times. Fil also tried it and the rock bounced five times.

"Phew, piece of cake." she boasted.

"That was just a lucky throw." he retorted.

"Want to try it again?" challenging him while holding another rock.

"No." he stood up and extended his arms to help her up, "Come."

She accepted his hand and lifts herself up. She's feeling a little bit woozy coz of the alcohol but she can still handle herself.

"Where to?" she asked.

"It's just a minute or two drive from here." he said while putting on his jacket and walking towards her bike, "Come give me a lift."

"Getting too demanding huh?" she said and she walked towards her bike and jump on it. She inserted the key and waited for him to hop on.

He sat behind her and he held her waist, which made her jump.

"Where to?" she asked while removing her focus on his hands.

"I'll show you."

They stopped infront of a beautiful mansion. The house was classical modern style. It surely showed elegance in every side. It's like running into a mansion of a president. They were standing outside an enormous gate and there was a large pathway that leads to the main house. There were bushes of flowers in both sides of it.

"Is this your house?" she was surely surprised on how rich he was. The house was like those that were featured on cribs show.

He nodded and dialed a code the side of the gate and it slowly opened. He jumped back to her bike and she turned at him like she doesn't know what to do next.

"Drive in." he said smiling.

She just drove inside and she saw a fountain before the main door that was around 10ft. high. There were two pillars on the steps of the main door. She stopped there and he jump off.

She was still flabbergasted on the riches of the place. She turned off her engine and sat still on her bike surveying on the place.

"Come," he pulled her out of her bike and held her hand while entering the enormously doors.

There were trails of red and white rose petals on the floor leading up stairs. She followed the petals with her gaze and it leads up the giant staircase. The second floor has a balcony over viewing the receiving area and the main gate. The house was in white, cream and brown/wood design. They stood there in the front door and her thought bubble popped up when he made a heavy sigh.

"This was supposed to be our house. I never had a chance to show her this. This was my a surprise gift," he sighed and stepped on the petals, following the trails, "Maybe if I showed her earlier, she might not left me there in the altar."

She snapped on his misery and she threw a light punch on his arms.

"Hey its better you didn't show her this. Will it feel good if she just stepped back from her decision of leaving you, just because of this house?" she kicked the petals.

He looked at her with a sad face. She felt bad for him. He must be really devastated when he saw her running out of the church. And jumping on someone else's car for escape. He must have spent his last penny for this house and on the grandeur wedding. Preparing for a wedding requires lots of time and effort. If she was the groom, she would punch her in the gut and stepped on her train for her to hit the floor face first. And threw a grenade on her escape care.

She was willing to be his friend for tonight. She looked at her watch and it's just 10:30pm. It's not really her character to be the shoulder to lean and cry on but she can't just leave him here, in this big house alone. He might cut his wrist and die, and she was the last person he was with. She can't be a suspect for his death. Her dad will cut her throat, before the judge can even make a decision.

"Hey, call yourself lucky tonight," she patted his shoulder.

"Why?" he shook his head.

"Because I'm scheduled to be nice and this happens every three years. So, the nights is young and let's wreck this house and have some fun."

[A/N: The night is young indeed. Oppsie., the alcohol is taking effect on Fil, where will their adventure go? Night is young and how much closer will they get?]
