Chapter 40 - 40 I Missed You

"No Ma'am. Your daughter is pretty just like you. I'm sorry for my rudeness." he shyly bowed his head and looked away.

"What is your name? Are you going to drive us while we are here? Did Eric make those arrangements too?" she was a bit annoyed with her last sentence.

Of course, Li Wei noticed it, but he couldn't understand why she was behaving like that, she should be happy that her husband is looking after her. But he shrugged it off and introduced himself, "I'm Li Wei at your service Ma'am..."

"Just call me Ji An, please. No need for formalities. I'm not your boss and to me, it doesn't sound right. Ji An please, call me Ji An, okay?" her voice had calmed down and she let Sofia enter the car first before her.

"Yes, Ms... Ji An." he smiled feeling silly. 'She is so nice, no wonder boss likes her.' in his mind. "I'm afraid I cannot drive you around. Mr Lewis asked me if I can pick you up and my boss agreed to it. After sending you to where you want to go, I'm heading back to the office. If I failed to be there at 5:00 my boss might fire me." he smiled at her as he explained things to her.

"Oh! I don't want to trouble you. Okay just send me to Gu reside— I mean on that address. You don't have to get off and take my things, I'll do it myself. We should hurry." Ji An instantly got worried for him, she doesn't really want to trouble anyone, it's just not her.

Gu Residence

Li Wei quickly helped her unload her luggage from the trunk of the car. Chairman and Madam Gu shouldn't see him with her and he must report to his boss first. But before he left, he told Ji An that his boss arranged a dinner for tonight to welcome her and her husband. Ji An agreed and asked for the address of the place they need to go. After giving those details to Ji An, Li Wei left in a hurry and drove back to the office.

Ji An left her luggage where Li Wei left it. She held her daughter's hand and head to the big door of the mansion and pressed the doorbell, one of the servants opened the door, "Who is it?" Madam Gu asked the servant as she walked to the door. To her surprise, it's her daughter with a little kid in her hand. "Ji An—" she uttered in shock.

"Ma—" she paused with teary eyes, "I'm here... With my—" Ji An looked at Sofia, "Daughter."

Meiling looked at little Sofia, "So I'm a grandma now?" she replied with a big smile on her face. She hugged Ji An, her tears fell as they both hugged each other. "I miss you so much. I thought I will never get to see you again." she held her tight like she doesn't have any plans of letting her go.

Sofia suddenly spoke with her little voice, "Are you really my grandma?"

Madam Gu smiled and let Ji An go. She then turned to the little girl, "You are so pretty, you look like your mother. What is your name sweetheart?"

"My name is Sofia Elise Lewis. Grandma, you speak English, how so?" she seriously asked with her eyebrows creased.

Meiling smiled at her cute reaction, "Ahh because When your mummy was little, we live in England. How old are you Sofia?"

"I'm 5 years." She held her hand out and showed her five fingers. "Aren't you going to invite us inside grandma? Can I call you Nana?"

"But of course, where are your grandma's manners if I don't. Come in, are you hungry? Do you want something to drink? Are you tired?" she asked while she held Sofia's hand and headed inside the house. The servants were there watching them and waiting for instructions, "Hurry, prepare some snacks and drinks for my granddaughter. Prepare their bedrooms!" she then looked at her daughter, "You are staying here with us, right?" she gave her daughter a very warm smile.

"Ma—" she hugged her mother once more and tears flowed from her eyes, "Can I stay here for a bit? We have a lot to catch up on. I have a lot of things to tell you."

The servants followed all her instructions. Two bedrooms have been prepared immediately, snacks and drinks were served in the living area where they are.

"Where are your belongings?" Madam Gu wondered and looked near the door.

"Oh! Their outside, I left them there! I didn't know if you will accept us." She lowered her head feeling ashamed remembering how she behaved the last time she was there.

"Someone get their things and bring them to their room," she ordered the servants. "You silly girl, you are my daughter. Why will I not accept you?" her smile was never-ending, she is truly happy that her daughter came and went to her.

"Ma... Thank you..."

"Where is her... Fath...?" she got cut off by Ji An.

"I'll tell you later. I'll tell you everything. Let's not talk about this in front of her."

Madam Gu nodded, "Okay. You must be tired, do you want to rest first?"

"Sofia, you need to have a little nap. We will go out later. I need to meet someone later for dinner." Ji An.

"Okay then. Tomorrow, let's have our talk." Madam Gu was a bit disappointed but she respected her daughter's plan.
