This overpowered ability, [Quick Learner] was helping me acquire way too many abilities at an abnormal rate. And with this knowledge that similar abilities can merge, I think I'm beginning to understand just a tip of the iceberg on the vast majority of acquirable skills in this universe. Not to mention, if what that man in the top hat said was true, maybe a revival ability was a start on how to bring back Mom. What I needed to focus on now was strengthening my abilities. Making their Mastery hit their peak, and finally, combining the abilities to make myself as strong as possible. The most important ability I need to acquire is self healing. If I can regenerate my body endlessly, then I will truly be invincible.
Titus called for a restock of food for Hati's village from the help of Mahika's fish farming village. Luckily, the first envoy of food had Mahika tagging a long with it just as I asked.
I asked Dakota to bring her to the Main hall where the children as well as Lucy were.
"Greetings Mahika. Thank you for taking the time to come see me."
"Of course. Now, what was it that you needed of me?"
"I wish to learn magic, and specifically healing magic."
"Hmm, I understand. It will not be easy, as it took me multiple years before I could conjure my most basic healing spell."
"Don't worry, I grasp things quickly."
With a sigh, she began to teach me the basics of magic. Before I knew it, the children as well as Lucy had come and taken a seat beside me as Mahika began her lesson.
Magic is quite simple to understand. There are Four basic elements: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. There are more elements such as Light, Time and Dark, but one must understand the four basics in order to even attempt learning higher tier magic. Magic is separate from skills, in the sense that skills do not require any energy to be invoked. The energy used to cast Magic spells is conjured from within one's body. Magical energy is concentrated in the heart as well as the brain. By connecting the two, one can achieve their full potential. Energy capacity, or Energy potential is determined by multiple factors, but the prevailing truth is that those with a strong mind and willpower have the most energy. The healing spell I witnessed earlier cast by the shamans was an intermediate tier healing spell of an earth nature. The tiers of spells go as such:
-
Basic
Intermediate
Enhanced
Advanced
Epic
Master
-
There are higher orders of magic being mentioned in stories such as Legendary, Mythical and God tiered magic, but magic of that level hasn't been heard of amongst the beast-men in thousands of years. It took three of the best shamans of this village to cast an intermediate tier healing spell, and is the best tier magic that Mahika and Artemis, her mother and younger sister of Titus can cast. I guess magic was quite the luxury in this world. I took note of that and we continued our lesson.
"The most basic exercise which all who study under magic must go through, is realizing the connection of mind and body. Without so, you may never cast a single magical spell. In order to do so, you must meditate. Close your eyes and feel the energy flowing through your body."
The children as well as Lucy even started to do as told. I took a deep breath in, closed my eyes, and exhaled. I repeated this a few more times. While this was happening, I was starting to remember the reason why I was doing all of this. I could feel energy start to swell up within me. This energy started to rage within me, and was filled with deep hatred, but after I gave it some time, it turned into a more calming energy, like that of a clear lake next to a mountain. After I felt the energy subside a little, I opened my eyes, and saw an astonished look coming from Mahika. The children and Lucy were still practicing this exercise, so it seemed that only Mahika could tell something changed within me.
"Y-you weren't joking. The pace you're learning at is monstrous even for the strongest of beast-men."
Her usual graceful composure was destroyed at the sight of my increase in strength.
"Can I ask what you exactly mean by that?"
I wanted to know from Mahika's perspective to grasp a better understanding of the situation.
"Your Aura was leaking out and I could feel the rage and despair that is within your body, but after you took control of it, it made me realize that your potential is passed my understanding.
"So, now that you know how fast I can grasp knowledge, how about some basic healing spells?"
"I'm not quite sure how much more I will be able to teach you. I only know a basic healing spell. After that you will have to learn on your own."
"That will be more than enough, thank you."
She then proceeded to place her hand over my chest and moonlight started to envelop the area where she placed her hand, and I felt as though energy was flowing through me. This feeling was the same as when I would come home from school and food would be prepared just as I came through the front door. Coming home and seeing that Mom created a delicious dish for me.
"This is the healing spell which was cast on you yesterday."
"Why didn't you chant like the others?"
"Chanting reduces the amount of energy used, but takes up time."
This was quite useful information. Hopefully I won't have to use chants in the future. It seems like a bother to have to chant for a spell.
"So then how do you cast your spell if you don't chant?"
"After you cast a spell by chanting it, you can recreate that same spell without the chant simply by thinking about invoking it."
"Does that mean I can cast whatever spells I want as long as I know the chant?"
"No. The harder the spell the more you have to study it in order to grasp the knowledge on how to use it."
"Ahh so its kind of like riding a bike with training wheels in order to get the muscle memory down."
"I'm sorry?"
"Never mind.."
After Mahika showed me the healing spell, I was told to repeat the aura generating process and was told to invoke the spell through the chant.
"Fenrir, father of wolves, blessed upon thee, grant me the power of the pack!"
...
Nothing.
Although it was easy to create an aura, it wasn't as easy to learn how to cast a spell.
I needed this healing spell in order to ensure victory against my enemies in the future.
It was at sundown that I finally cast my first spell, [Fenrir's Breath: Basic], and Mahika had already left to go back to her village. It felt like a weakened version of what she cast on me earlier. If I were to describe it, it was like drinking watered down American beer as opposed to a nice Belgium pale ale. But just as American beer will still get you drunk, the spell I cast still had a feeling of regeneration. It has been 19 years since I have came to this world, and I have finally began to dabble in something only told in fantasy stories from my world.
...
This was a complete game changer.

*Author's ending note*
I don't know why, but it says the author's note cannot exceed 500 words, but what I was going to post was 168 words. If it means characters then WebNovel fix your shit!
Anyways...:
Hey guys it's been a while since my last upload D:
But fret not! I am currently writing three chapters at the same time (Don't worry I've got this!) and considering this is my first novel I didn't think continuity would be so hard to keep up! I started the first couple chapters without giving the future chapters much thought, but seeing as people are actually reading my stories (Thank you!) I have taken some time to actually plan out and strategize my coming chapters.
If you must know, I usually write the story arcs and ideas on the 地下鉄 on my way to the Gym at 墨田区体育館. I'm usually there from the morning at around 9:00-10:00 to 11:00-12:00. Trust me, I am the one that stands out the most there as everyone is Full Japanese and then there is me.. the ハフ(Half).
Again, thank you for taking the time to read my novel, and if you have a WebNovel account then please comment! Cya next chapter :)
