Love really does make a person go blind and Anna was not an exception too.
Anna loved this one man dearly, Even when the whole world shouts at her to wake up. She was still adamant to submit.
"Father! I went out to a night club to meet some people but only in the Afternoon!" She pressed the last word 'Afternoon' so firmly to avoid any more misunderstanding.
"Shane warned me several times that not to wander out without a bodyguard but I disobeyed him and ran into troubles, He got angry because of my mistakes and...
No! no! Not angry! Not at all angry!!! Ahhh... he might have felt distressed on seeing me in middle of crisis or..." She tried hard to find a reason but she could not find the answer, 'Why did he slap me?'
She bit her lower lips hard and tried hard to control her emerging pain in her heart. Luyisa noted the fatigue of the girl and walked forward to hold her Daughter-in-law's hands and patted her shoulder to relax.
"Father!" Anna delayed for a second and then released the breath that she was holding in and answered him, "Father! I am sure about this one thing, he really does care about me a lot.
There wasn't even one single day that he passed without making sure that I am safe. My security was always his priority, If he didn't come that day, I might have not survived to stand in front of you."
Hearing Anna's final statement made Edward's heart sink low. He himself knew very well that how Anna's life was always been threatened after her mother was gone.
He even went to an extreme measure to mask Anna's identity as a servant in her own house, as it was the only best idea suggested by Lulu to keep Anna save.
"Fine then! But you must visit your mother to assure her in person, she was worried sick about you, and also Chris would love to see you."
All the while, Charlie held a face of smugness, 'Won't he even feel a tiny bit of shame, Lulu was worried sick for Anna?! haha... What a joke... Would anyone believe them.'
Anna nodded her head in acceptance as she kept her head low.
Charlie cleared his throat to claim their attention, "Mmm... Mr.Edward! Nice to meet you. Sorry for everything that happened. Can you please take a seat, We need to discuss something important at our hands."
Charlie gestured Edward to take the seat next to him. With a little resentment, Edward moved forward to take a seat beside Charlie.
"Edward! It looks like someone was purposefully stirring conflicts with our corporation. I have directed our PR department to tame the news but it seems difficult, and I hope, you might have also learned about the situation at Torizo Corporation."
"Did you offend anyone recently? Least, you would have got the information about the person, if he was just a commoner. If not that case, then someone with a strong background is messing up with you on purpose." Edward replied after scrutinizing the issue.
"Hmm... I also suspect that some business tycoon was involved. He was able to spread the news viral in one single night and brought down the whole company prospects just in a day. Such a calculative nasty man he is."
While Charlie was cursing, Luyisa personal phone rang disturbing the conversation, "Excuse me!"
She pulled the phone out to check the dialer name, and she literally threw her phone to the coffee table in horror.
Charlie was also panicked by witnessing his wife's pale face, "Honey! What happened, Are you okay?"
"I am not answering that devil's call." Luyisa whimpered in fear.
'What devil's call?' Charlie took the phone and checked the caller name. His eyebrows shot up as he whispered, "Clayton!"
Edward and Anna immediately directed their gaze at the phone. Even Edward exhibited a little anxious, 'Why is he calling? Is he got something to do with today's incident? But he never once advanced against Charlie. But why is he calling then?'
Anna thought, "Ahh... Damn! Godfather must have seen the news, What would he do know?'
"Charlie! What are you looking at? Just answer him. Don't make him wait, he will go mad again." Luyisa's voice trembled.
Edward knew that Clayton and Luyisa were once friends. However, After Kathy married him, they lost contact. Edward always wondered what happened between them, not having a hint that he was the sole reason.
Charlie pressed the answer button, "Hello!"
After listening to the other end of the call, he responded with an "Okay!" and then turned to Luyisa and stated, "He only wanted to speak to you."
Luyisa shook her head vigorously in disapproval.
"Don't make things even harder for us. Just talk!" Charlie pressed the phone into her hands.
'Just talk! Who would want to answer to a devil's call?' Luyisa looked back at her husband in anguish.
"Talk?! Don't make him wait!" Edward also encouraged.
