Jacob not only got to keep a watch out for the prey but also for the predator.
Even the slightest mistake would cost someone's life. He got to strike in one go. if the herd was alerted, they would run wild leaving a mess behind.
On firsthand, Jacob gazed around the surroundings looking for any trace of mountain lion or any other predator that might bring harm to them. He calculated from the relaxed state of the herd they might have already lost the predator way long back.
Once he made sure that there is no such harm. He sneaked behind one of the Gazelle and charged on it without making much of a noise.
Jacob held the horns of the Gazelle tightly from behind and with his full strength, he flipped the animal to the ground. It was not an easy encounter for Jacob as it was a fully matured male and that to an aggressive one.
