Chapter 2 - 02

Luke has been to many events and occasions concerning university campaigns and parties held by the rich and prominent figures in the school like the one he is currently in.

This time, the university gym has been used for the occasion. A party-list for a college department officer candidate is hosting the party and has invited countless students from the department and the students who were dragged in by their friends to celebrate the inauguration of their party-list.

"Come on everybody, put your hands in the air!" The DJ shouted on the microphone while playing music through the speakers placed in the corners of the gym. With the gym being closed off, the music was blaring through Luke's ears as he made his way to his partying friends, acquaintances or whatever since he never really cared for them once. He just went with the flow and let them lead him to anywhere.

"Hey!" Luke shouted through the blaring music to his friends. He found them dancing with each other with girls and boys in their arms. Each of them is holding a pair while they kept on dancing.

Luke tapped a shoulder and shouted on the ear on the closest one next to him.

"I'm going first! I got some things to do back at the apartment!"

"What?!" The man shouted.

"I said, I'm going first!" Luke increased his voice.

"Yeah?! Well, have fun then! See you later!" The man kissed the girl on his left arm and cupped the waist of the other one on his right.

Luke shook his head at that sight. Fools, he thought.

He went outside the gym and closed the door behind him, preventing the loud music from coming out. He walked towards the main road to a light post where he left his motorcycle under its light.

Bathing under the lamp light, a sleek black Hamaha Sniper sits in full glory. He hopped in and then sped away into the starless night as he entered the highway. With the summer night on his back he made his way to his apartment door. Once inside he began to tidy up his clothes which most of it are just lying around the room.

It's midsummer night. The warm air outside blew in and caressed Luke's back. He folded all of his clothes and tucked them inside a suitcase. He would be leaving for good, far from this middle of everything.

He buckled his suitcase up as a precautionary measure in it having to blow up with all the clothes and stuff packed inside it.

Luke picked up his phone and while he was scrolling through his apps it rang. Seeing the person calling him, he moved the phone away just as he answered it.

"Where are you right now? Why aren't you inside the gym?" A loud voice of a woman blared through the phone as it tried to cancel out the music around it.

"Don't shout, besides I don't like being there." Luke answered.

"Where are you? Tell me so I can get to you." The woman asked.

Luke went silent. He hesitated in saying the words that is stuck in his throat. He might have never care for anyone in his acquaintance list or friends but out of all of them, only this woman have a spot in his heart.

"I'm leaving, you know. I've told you this in the past." Luke softly spoke.

"What?! I thought you were joking with me. I though that you were only kidding as you told us that on April First."

"I wasn't though at that time... besides it was the only time I can say it to you and the other guys."

"But are you really leaving? How about us? Me?" The woman sobbed on the other side.

"We never really had a thing between us. It is better for you to think that we were friends and not more than that." Luke said as he carried his suitcase the size of medium box and looked at his apartment for the last time.

"Are you just leaving like that? Being a coward and not manning up? You promised me to enter the same college as me. I thought....I thought..... uwaaaa!!" The woman cried over the phone as scrambling noises were heard through it.

Luke hung the call and closed the door to his apartment. He sighed as he made his final decision. He went down the stairs and out to the road to his motorcycle. He secured the suitcase to the bike and and then he rode it.

Out into the night he rode in silence until he reached the airport. He went straight to the hangar field to a C-130 parked in preparation for flight. Twenty combat troops stood in attention by the ramp. Two pilots and a load master stood in wait as Luke stopped his bike a few feet before them.

"Evening gentlemen." Luke greeted.

The combat troops and the two pilots saluted to Luke. Luke returned the salute and shook hands with the load master.

"Please have my bike secured into the cargo hold. Sorry for the inconvenience I might have caused you." Luke sheepishly smiled.

"Ahahahahaha, it doesn't hurt to serve such a man as you. Besides when are you going return to the force? The general is awaiting your return." The load master smiled as he ordered the combat troops to load the bike and prepare for take off.

"Its going to take a while. You know I'm retired from the force so I can't possibly be back there after retiring." Luke shrugs as he entered the cargo bay and sat with the load master near the cockpit of the C-130.

"Don't say that. You are always welcome in the force. I know some things happened but they do happen yeah? So, just know that if you need something or in need of us, just call like this time. We are always at your command." The load master placed his hand on Luke's back and then he stood up to oversee the take off.

Luke smiled as he settled himself into the cargo seat securing himself with the harness and waited for the plane to take off.

After some time, the load master and the combat troops began to sit down and the plan took off without a hitch to the archipelago country in the SEA.
