The vice chancellor of the university Mrs Benita Hernandez was reading a report from chief of police.
Interesting' she said softly to herself. She never paid attention to African students. Some truly worked hard and had talent, others were just too…. She sighed thinking about this.
So it turns out that she had such a capable student. How unfortunate that the police and the university could never afford to scout this rare talent. From the report, not only had this unfamiliar student known as Semethe has indeed shown bravery, however she was informed by the Dean that this student was here on scholarship before surprisingly started paying for own studies.
They even had to go on the internet to search for the country's name. This was because most people assumed Lesotho was part of South Africa. However, they discovered that it is a Kingdom whereas South Africa is a republic.
This was something.
First, Benita and the chief of police have both assumed this student to be a male as the behaviour displayed was that likely to be found in males: bravery in the presence of danger. Therefore, she had gone out of her way to summon some of the rarest beauties to her office.
Morally, this was out of a line. As a parent this is not what she ever wished to do, let alone have her hand in the bottomless corruption, yet the chief had suggested a lot of tempting ideas such as a piece of property she wanted to have.
Perhaps it's true that everyone has a price, she sighed heavily.
It was what it was. She prayed her lucky stars that her plan to use the ladies to seduce the said student would succeed.
As she buried herself in the whirlwind of thoughts, she heard a soft knock on the door.
"come in" she uttered loud enough for the knocking partly to hear.
Leseli entered the office she has never entered in her five years of study. She was very cautious as she had no clue as to the reason she was summoned.
The office was neatly furnished; it was smaller than what she had anticipated. It looked homely and comfortable. She seemed totally out of place and uncomfortable in the office.
She raised her eyes to look at the vice chancellor she had only seen in the prospectus. She was beyond beautiful, grey eyes that scrutinized her carefully, lush eyebrows most people would kill to have, plump lips that had a dark purple colour- courtesy of a lipstick.
Benita thought this student came for something else, she did not have to be formal and asked plainly, how can I help you miss?"
The student was definitely of African descendant. However, she had a light complexion.
The student smiled politely and explained that she as summoned to the office by the dean.
"what?" Benita asked with her eyes nearly popping out of her sockets.
She wasn't expecting a female student who looked like she was in her first year.
"You are Simithi?" well, the pronunciation was out of place but she had tried her best.
"Yes professor." It was a bit annoying how she pronounced her surname that's why she often preferred her Christian name or Les to the Cubans as she was positive they wouldn't face any challenges.
Benita was unprepared for this.
Surprise flashed in her eyes, but it went as quickly as it came. If she displayed any form of weakness, then she wouldn't be in this position many converted.
She smiled sweetly at the little girl before her a she offered her a seat. Seems like her endeavours in hiring the beauties were rendered futile. What a waste.
She had to hatch a plan quickly. It seems her task would be easier as everyone she came across wanted to make her acquaintance. She wrongly assumed the girl before her would try to suck up to her. She could feel that a heavy burden has been lifted off her shoulders.
