Under the luminous rays of the moonlight, a tall ethereally handsome man entered a local pub.
"Yo! Boss, over here." A well-built man from the corner table greeted him.
The table particularly stood out in the boisterous pub, with every single occupant of the table, extremely well-built and muscular with lean proportions.
There were six men sitting around the table and the seventh one was walking towards them.
Luther didn't respond in kind to that cheerful greeting and slowly walked over to the booth with a sulky and gloomy expression.
He sat down and quietly grabbed a drink on the table. Then without waiting for anyone he downed it in one gulp.
Monkey who was sitting on the other end of the table took a few small hidden peaks at the disgruntled man and hesitantly mumbled. "How long are we staying here boss?"
"Hmm..." Luther was still absent-mindedly gazing at the empty glass, deeply engrossed in his own thoughts.
"Boss, just a small suggestion. We all know your plan and of course, we are all very grateful to her but... Can't we just transfer the money and leave soon?"
They were assassins by trade after all. How could they afford to loiter around in the middle of a city for long?
"Hmmm... and that would show our gratitude?" Raising his sharp eyes, Luther seriously looked at Panther, who had just voiced his opinion.
A cold shiver ran through Panther's spine and not daring to speak further, he immediately quieted down.
He nudged the guy sitting next to him as if he was telling 'Now it's your turn.'
In a few minutes, another meek voice sounded. "So what is the plan boss?"
"Hmm..."
It looked like Luther was intent on not saying much tonight.
Time trickled by and the entire table was getting more and more uneasy.
This is a bar for god sake! Why is he torturing us here?! Everyone was crying inside due to Luther's bad mood. The atmosphere felt suffocating.
Finally, after downing several drinks, Luther mumbled in a gruff voice.
"Let's work from here for a few days. We can talk about this in the next meeting."
The devilishly handsome man got up, ready to leave when Panther cautiously asked again. "Boss are you serious about her?"
Chuckling sarcastically, Luther looked at him. His sharp black eyes had a visible tinge of sadness to them.
"Doing what we do, how can I ever be serious with anyone..."
"I... I just want to spend some time here... maybe with her..."
He stood up and walked out, his lonely silhouette stepping into the darkness, pondering how to pay back this enormous debt he owed.
He was supposed to be a dead man. But the strange woman, so frail and vulnerable somehow unexpectedly saved his life.
His pathetic life... Did he even deserve to be saved?
Definitely not. Someone like him only deserved to die like an orphan, in the middle of nowhere...
Luther couldn't understand himself. He came to this city, following her, only with the intention of rewarding her with wealth more than she could ever imagine.
But when his eyes met hers... he ended up suggesting a different mode of payment.
His mind got muddled and he impulsively played the part of a hooligan, teasing her, hugging her, and kissing her.
He could even still feel the softness of her cheeks on his lips. Luther chuckled. The woman was far too amusing for her own good.
Even the way she handled the needles and pushed him down, without alerting him seemed extremely professional.
She even tossed him on the ground with one swift motion!!
Though it might be because he had let his guard down, he still had to admit her decent talent in the fighting arena.
A small part of his heart wondered if she also belonged to the world of darkness.
Maybe if she did... If she had sinned as much as him... then just maybe...
But he already knew it was useless to hope for such miracles. It was a fool's dream.
The woman was clearly a normal person. There was simply no denying it.
Just like anyone else, she also deserved to live in the light and not be exposed to the brutality and harshness of his world.
It would probably be best for both of them if he just transferred money into her bank account and disappeared without another word.
