Sai wedding dress was a long sleeve mermaid type. Lucy brushed her sister's long hair and coiled it into a French braid.
"How does this look?" She asked
"You look like you are about to be hit by a bus..... Am kidding, you look wonderful sis." Lucy said more quietly. Her dress was blue, a shade that went extremely well with her pale skin. Her mass of blond hair has been wound into a mermaid braid. Her eyes met cousin's in the mirror, and Sai managed a small reassuring smile.
Lola knocked and put her head in the door smiling broadly as she took in the young women.
"Mr. Sam is ready, young miss. You look very pretty!"
Sai rose to her feet and thanked Lola. She managed a smile for Lola also. Just before they left the room, she took one more look around the room and her eyes landed on the lacy nightgown and quickly looked away.
People where gathered in what she assumed was a parlor. She saw Sam, the priest and Chrys. Chrys stood a little in her way, but he didn't move, and she had to walk past him without her dress brushing his legs. She could almost feel the dissatisfaction in his eyes as he watched her.
Sam was beaming as he took her hand and placed it in the crook of his elbow. "You look beautiful," he said heartily. "I m sure am getting my money worth." She flinched at that.
"Get on with it." He told the priest.
The wedding was brief, too brief for Sai peace of mind. Only a couple of minutes they were husband and wife. Sam turned to face her and pressed his wet mouth on hers. Sai kept her lips firmly together and her mind went blank as she willed herself not to vomit. She drew back as quickly as possible and turned away, meeting Chrys gaze as she did so. For the first she noticed
he wasn't wearing a hat, and she could clearly see his face. His eyes were clear and cold, his expression so contemptuous she almost stepped back. Why does he hate me so much. She wondered. She looked back at him and gave him back a stare.
Chrys lips twitched into a humourless little smile, and gave her brief nod, as if in recognition of her nerve. Still, it wasn't until he turned away that she released a breath she doesn't know she was holding.
Sam rubbed his hand down her arm, accidentally letting his fingers touch her hip. Sai started, but forced herself to smile at her new husband. It was just that she was so nervous, she told herself, and she didn't really know him. Once she had a chance to relaxed, everything will be alright.
