Quillan jolts up as he landed on something fluffy. He looks around wildly, seeing a rather tidy bedroom. He catches sight of a mirror and stares at it, looking at his reflection. Eyes like amber, tussled hair like cat's eye scapolite on the body of a sixteen or seventeen year old male. He took a look at his tender hands, fair skin and took another look at the room, confirming that the body he currently was in was a young master of some kind of family or something.
"Open the first drawer on the desk in front of the bed and take out the first notebook you see." Ambrose's voice suddenly sounded out at that time, Quillan only complied with what he said, taking the notebook with a crystal-like cover and opening it to the first page. He then noticed the oddity of that and just concluded in mind that Ambrose probably was in his head.
This world builds itself around two people—a girl named Skylar and a boy named Jesse—who are in high school. The girl was amazing at everything, kind, comes from a wealthy and noble family, the dream girlfriend of everybody in school. The male was also good at everything in school except for one thing—physical education. He has a weak physique and moreover has an abusive family, leading to him being the perfect bullying target. The male was in love with the female, the only one who has ever stood up for him. They sooner or later become friends.
This is where the problems start because most of the school's population turn on him instead of treat him better because of the female and that is all because of a wealthy and influential young master—named Alex—that is obsessed with the female. It eventually gets too far when someone tries to outright kill the male during the yearly sports competition in an isolated place. The young master gets arrested and the rest of the school starts treating the male better and he finally gathers up the courage to confess his love to the female.
Unfortunately, they meet the next obstacle here, the female's family has already engaged her to another person who was the successor of the nation's biggest and wealthiest clothing and cosmetics business—named Flynn…who conveniently goes to the same school as them…and was the most neutral person out there.
The female goes to meet him and explain why they can't be engaged because somewhere along the road, she had also fallen for the male. The successor was actually a good person however, and had long ago decided to treat his lover like a princess and make her the most envied woman in the nation. He gave the condition that the male has to go through three tests—the first was an exam to test his intelligence that he passed with flying colors, the second was a physical test that he barely passed through, the last one was actually the most easy, seeing as the successor had long ago confirmed that he was genuine to the female.
After that was dealing with the male's abusive family, which was relatively easy, considering that they didn't bother hiding any evidence and the male has injuries and scars from everything that they had put him through, not hesitating to tell the female and lawyer everything.
It was only after graduation that the two get jobs and quickly become the top figures in each of their divisions, giving the female's family no reason to object when the male proposes to the female.
This was the summary that sounded like an amazingly stereotypical love story.
Quillan turned the page and furrows his brows, mouth tightening into a frown. The body he was inhibiting was the successor, Flynn Amber. He silently took in Flynn's backstory. Loving parents who raised him right, not spoiled despite being the only son of one of the most wealthy family in the nation, has an upright character and had no idea that he was engaged to the female, Skylar, until he was confronted about it, was a romantic. Currently in sophomore year and is planning to directly skip grades and graduate after the year is done, seeing as his father had deemed him ready to take over the business.
He looked at the next page and saw his mission, make sure everything goes according to what he had just read because there was a person who had reincarnated back into time.
He looked at the clock that said "4:42 AM" and started preparing to go to school. Ambrose didn't show up, nor did he say anything else. Quillan was also disinclined to talk with that person who probably hated him, even though he did not understand why that is. Quillan was certain that he did not do anything that would make him so hateful,
Regarding this throwing him into a world without consent thing, Quillan was somewhat resentful, but Ambrose had said that it would only benefit him, so it wouldn't be that bad, right?
He didn't even notice how much he trusted Ambrose.
But the first thing he should do was find out who had reincarnated and make sure that everything goes according to the plot—what he had read sounded like a novel, to be honest. Quillan tucks his uniform shirt in and fixes the tie, muscle memory at work, seeing as he didn't actually know how to tie a tie. Quillan sat down at the desk and opened the notebook again, taking a highlighter and pencil and eraser from his pencil case in the schoolbag he found lying around in the closet.
He highlights the noteworthy characters in yellow and the key points of the story in orange, writing down the loopholes concerning him and the central figures. Thing like Skylar fell for Jesse somewhere along the road, but never once did she change her attitude towards Jesse. Jesse clearly hated his abusive family and wasn't afraid to expose them, but he only did it after getting with Skylar, etcetera.
The plot was horribly put together in the first place, how could someone still keep through it? Nonetheless, he would try his best. Quillan also wanted to remember what he was supposed to remember, don't look at how he had refused Ambrose before. That was only because he felt the unwillingness to do it from that man and wanted to observe and know more of his personality before anything.
He slammed close the hardcover notebook and stuffed it into the schoolbag, preparing to go down and greet Flynn's parents, eat breakfast then go to school and find out about the current situation, so he can plan out appropriately. The best thing to do currently was get a hobby that coincides with either physical education or arts. Arts is the most obvious thing to do then, drawing and designing, mostly, since he was supposed to inherit a clothing and cosmetics business.
Quillan didn't know why, but he felt that him and drawing and designing had an amazing affinity towards one another.
Blair Amber, Flynn's mother gave him a bright smile as he walked into the dining room, she looked to be in her early-thirties, with eyes like onyx and long hair like cat's eye scapolite. "Flynn! You're early today, have something to do? Like posting a love letter into someone's locker~?"
Cory Amber, Flynn's father gave him a nod, going back to reading the newspaper. Anyone with eyes could see, however, the overflowing fatherly love in his eyes. He looked to also be in his early-thirties, eyes like amber and hair like garnet.
This was something that confused Quillan immensely. These two obviously loved Flynn to hell and back, the two of them also believed in true love and marrying only the one destined for you. So how could these two, who firmly believed this, have the heart to condemn their beloved only son into an arranged marriage in which he might even hate the person he is bound to for the rest of his life? This was one big plot hole, really, since Skylar's family couldn't compare in the least to the Amber family. Whoever wrote the plot was an utter idiot.
A certain idiot: sneezes, looks around then goes back to observing.
School was entirely uneventful and boring. Quillan didn't find any good in it, seeing as if he tried to dig in his brain even a little bit, then he would know even more than even the teacher would. Flynn probably also thought it was entirely useless to waste two years of his life on relearning things he probably had ingrained in his mind by now.
There was only one problem. He had taken a look around the situation and saw that the murderous young master, Alex, was somehow friends with the male and female central figures, Jesse and Skylar. That led to the conclusion that it was either Alex himself or someone close to him that had reincarnated.
The sports festival was about to begin, meaning that Alex was supposed to be on his flight's end, but he was peaceful as if nothing had ever occurred to him and his feelings towards Skylar. He didn't even seem to be showing any interest or be deeply obsessed like how he was supposed to be.
Quillan approached them during lunch. An excuse? What other excuse could he use but, the fact that the Alex's family's business was planning on doing a long-time cooperation with Flynn's. This was something he found out while reading the backstories of the characters. When did he read it? During class, obviously. What else could he do in a room full of teenagers and an adult about to lash out at everyone because they simply will not listen to him? Listen to the lesson?
Quillan approached Alex, "Hello there," said person had eyes like mystic quartz and hair like orthoclase.
Murderous young mast—er, Alex raised a brow at Quillan, "What do you want?"
"I'm Flynn Amber, my father has told me to make a connection with your Beryl family." It was common for people to send their children to make connections with other people's, especially the more influential or the ones that they have alliances with. Everyone just bluntly say it out loud by now. Quillan told the lie with absolutely no qualms.
Alex's face changed when he heard that he was "Flynn Amber". He instantly put on an amiable face and greeted him nicely. "Hello, I'm Alex Beryl, as you know. These are my friends, Skylar Zircon and Jesse Agate."
Skylar had eyes like sunstone and hair like carnelian while Jesse had eyes like moonstone and hair like melanite. Quillan…didn't care about how they looked. Just described it because the two did look nice together. This world was rather favorable to their central figures in terms of looks. It was actually favorable to nearly everyone around the central figures in terms of looks, everyone else seemed average.
Quillan still had a sense of aesthetic, despite everything. He just had a tendency to compare eyes and hair to gems, that is, unless he found the person unfavorable. He sat down beside Jesse—Skylar and Alex were on one side together and ate his lunch silently. All of this was purely for observational purpose, Quillan really had to figure out who was changing things and put everything back on track. If that was even possible by now, seeing as Alex thinks of Jesse as a friend and probably would not go as far as trying to kill him. He seemed more humble and no longer puts everyone below him anymore, his attitude towards people of "higher standing" has not changed however.
His attitude might be a butterfly effect of the true reincarnated person's actions, however, Alex was a teenager with a wealthy family and this type of humble behavior can only come from someone who has had it ingrained in them from childhood, like Flynn. The person who has the most influence on a child would undoubtedly be their parents, or maybe a childhood friend?
Lunch had ended. The cafeteria was empty and it was only when the bell rang did Quillan snap out of his thoughts. He leisurely cleaned everything up and went to class, apologizing to the teacher and giving the excuse of an upset stomach from something he ate. The teacher easily believed him and Quillan wondered just how much Flynn was liked by the teachers for them to fret and ask if he needed to go home.
Quillan went to his seat and opened the notebook Ambrose had given him—a daring assumption, he knew, but his gut told him—rereading the plot for anymore possible loopholes.
"This is where the problems start because most of the school's population turn on him instead of treat him better because of the female and that is all because of a wealthy and influential young master—named Alex—that is obsessed with the female. It eventually gets too far when someone tries to outright kill the male during the yearly sports competition in an isolated place. The young master gets arrested and the rest of the school starts treating the male better and he finally gathers up the courage to confess his love to the female."
Someone commits attempted murder, not Alex. Alex gets arrested, but they never specified why.
