Because Lie Fan was resting after his war with Liu Biao, Yuan Shao was distracted by his northern border, and Liu Bei was fighting Liu Biao for Jing Province, all of Cao Cao's enemies were busy right now and he believed that if they attacked Ma Teng and managed to work with Han Sui, they have already ended the war before the whole land would know, especially if they manage to block the news.
Hearing the reason that Guo Jia gave to support Cao Cao and Xi Zhicai, everyone was solemn but optimistic about the proposed action they were going to take next.
Cao Cao was satisfied hearing that both of his military strategists supported his suggestion, as this proved that his suggestion wasn't wrong and that they should do it instead, but it didn't mean he wouldn't hear the concern from his other advisors.
So he turned to Xun Yu once again, addressing the concern that Xun Yu had just brought up previously even though he had responded to it, he felt that it wasn't an appropriate response to Xun Yu.
Cao Cao then told Xun Yu that he could transport the amount of supplies needed for their army to Hongnong, where Zhang Ji was stationed right now alongside Cao Ren, Cao Hong, Xu Huang, and the new advisor named Jia Kui.
There are also around 150,000 men combined from Zhang Ji's remaining army of around 40,000, Yang Feng' remaining army of around 30,000, and the 80,000 men that Cao Ren brought.
With that amount of men stationed there, he believed that they had a high chance of penetrating Ma Teng's defenses, especially if they managed to have Han Sui to work alongside them.
Cao Cao's words were immediately supported by both Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai, who also tried to persuade Xun Yu because the two of them thought that Cao Cao's idea was accurate and that without Xun Yu giving the greenlight, Cao Cao would never execute this plan.
In Cao Cao's government, Xun Yu held the highest position as he could be said to be Cao Cao's chancellor, and he held that position because Xun Yu was the most pragmatic, logical, and calm in Cao Cao's eyes.
Unlike Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai who have their own demons to fight against and eccentric personalities, Xun Yu was the best choice in Cao Cao's mind and was his favorite advisor, because he could understand him the most and dared to say his disagreements.
Even though sometimes the word stings, Cao Cao likes it because he knows that sometimes he could get over his head, and having someone like Xun Yu was the perfect counterbalance for him, it doesn't mean that the others don't dare to say their disagreement but Xun Yu was the most bold in choice of words.
Xun Yu who heard what Cao Cao had just said, and the support Cao Cao gained from Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai who tried their best to persuade him, finally nodded his head slowly and turned to face Cao Cao.
Xun Yu: "Alright My Lord, I agree with this plan but I think before we do our offense we should persuade Han Sui to come to our side first, even though he was weakened he still had the army and connections that could help us immensely in the fight against Ma Teng."
Cao Cao: "Of Course! That's what I think should be our priority, so Wenruo do you have any suggestions on who we should send and what things should we bring to persuade Han Shui?
Xun Yu: "Hmm, I think we should send Jia Kui My Lord, he was relatively unknown before and I'm sure that both Ma Teng and Han Sui would have never heard of his name, from General Cao Ren's letters that he sent back he continued to praise Jia Kui's talent after we leave Hongnong."
Guo Jia: "I support what Master Xun Yu has just said, My Lord. All of us here have been known by many people, so sending Jia Kui was the perfect choice. I think we should bring some gold, jade, and precious paintings, and how about an edict to promote him that you'll even have him permanently swear his allegiance to My Lord, what do Master Xun Yu and the others think about this?"
Xun Yu: "I agree with everything Master Guo Jia, maybe we could promote him to General Who Commands The Cavalries, it's not a high rank and a low rank that could satisfy Han Sui's appetite."
Cheng Yu: "How about promoting Han Sui to become General Of The Frontier, I think it's a much better choice considering that he would become a vital pawn for My Lord to pacify Liang Province and beyond."
Cheng Yu's words immediately garnered support as what he said made sense, Han Sui was a vital pawn for Cao Cao to control Liang Province just like Zhang Ji now controls Hongnong and Tong Gate for Cao Cao.
Also putting Han Sui as the General Who Commands The Cavalries was a bit of an overkill in some of the other opinions because there are much better people who could be put in that position, like Zhang Ji or Xiahou Dun or Xu Huang who was much more important in the long run.
Of course, Xun Yu knew about all of this, but he intentionally did this so that the others could give their opinions, and Cao Cao also knew what Xun Yi was doing, causing him to become more satisfied with his choice.
Seeing that everyone agreed with Cheng Yu including Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai, Cao Cao then gave his agreement and with the list of rewards to be prepared for Han Sui, Cao Cao ordered Xun Yu to draft the letter of appointment for Han Sui and the order letter for Jia Kui.
Xun Yu cupped his hand receiving the order, and took his leave to immediately draft both letters. Cao Cao then continued to give his orders by ordering Cheng Yu to prepare the gold, jade, and precious paintings that would be sent to Hongnong for Jia Kui to bring to Han Sui.
Cheng Yu does the same as what Xun Yu has just done, and lastly, Cao Cao orders both Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai to draft two strategies where the first one Han Sui is their ally and the second one Han Sui is part of their enemy.
Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai nodded their head and cupped their hand to Cao Cao, receiving the order from Cao Cao. Before leaving Guo Jia asked if they could add more troops for Cao Ren, and Cao Cao gave them permission for up to 50,000 men and more more than that.
Since all of his top advisors were gone, Cao Cao ended the meeting, and two days passed by when everything was prepared.
The letters of appointment for Han Sui needed the Emperor's seal, so Xun Yu forced the young Emperor Xian to stamp his seal and there was nothing that Dong Cheng and Emperor Xian could do about it.
The wagon full of golf, jade, and precious paintings had also been prepared by Cheng Yu, and under Cheng Yu's request to Cao Cao, the wagon was guarded by Li Dian with 500 Cavalries.
The letter of order for Jia Kui and the appointment letters were then given to Li Dian by Xun Yu after receiving permission from Cao Cao, and with that from Xuchang Li Dian and his group began their journey toward Hongbong spending around 2 weeks.
When they arrived in Hongnong, Li Dian immediately ha e the letter to Jia Kui who immediately prepared himself to do the mission that was ordered by Cao Cao personally to him.
Realizing that this could become a stepping stone for him to be transferred to Cao Cao's Capital, Jia Kui only spent a short time informing Zhang Jia, Cao Ren, and the others about his mission, and after leaving some advice, accompanied by Li Dian, Jia Kui began his journey toward Anding where Han Sui was located after his internal struggle with Ma Teng.
To reach Anding, they needed to pass Chang'An first, and due to this Jia Kui tried to find some shortcuts but unfortunately there were none so he could only have them disguise themselves as a merchant caravan bringing goods to Anding.
They spent around 1 week and a half before reaching Chang'An, where they met with Ma Teng's patrol everywhere but were safe from any suspicion, and managed to pass Chang'An safely before spending another week before finally reaching Anding.
At Anding, Jia Kui and Li Dian managed to disguise themselves perfectly to enter Anding, who was on high alert after Han Sui's defeat to Ma Teng for Chang'An and right now recuperating and licking his wound.
Managed to rent some rooms in an inn called the Serenity Inn, an Inn that Jia Kui and Li Dian have encountered in many towns and known for their clientele secrecy and service.
Jia Kui then began to use his contact in Anding, personal, and Cao Cao's contacts to organize a meeting between him and Han Sui, preferably a secret one that wasn't known by many people.
After there were days of work, Jia Kui managed to organize a meeting between himself and Han Sui, so accompanied by Li Dian and the 500 cavalries, they headed to a secret location outside north of Anding to meet with Han Sui.
When they arrived at the location, there was a large group of men guarding a big tent, and seeing the tent Jia Kui immediately knew that it was their location to meet with Han Sui who already waited for them.
After a throughout screening being done to Jia Kui and Li Dian by Han Sui's men, then two of them accompanied by 10 men entered the tent, where they saw Han Sui waiting for them alongside two of his Eight Riders Generals Cheng Yin and Hou Xuan.
Han Sui seeing the two of them stood up from his seat greeted them, and gestured for two of them to take a seat toward the seats that had been prepared for them.
Jia Kui and Li Dian returned the greeting Han Sui gave to them and then after taking their seat, Jia Kui thanked Han Sui for agreeing to meet the two of them and told Han Sui that before they talked about any matter, he informed Han Sui that there was a gift from Cao Cao for Han Sui, a gift that he believe Han Sui would love arousing Han Sui's interest and seeing this Jia Kui gave the letter of appointment to Han Sui.
