Autumn comes to an end.
Weeks had gone by and spring had come to an end the weather was getting chillier, and it had been already 5 months since Carmila and Damien met.
Their friendship grew so much so that every one in Carmila's family started suspecting that there was something going on between her and Damien. On a Sunday morning after church Damien invited Carmila to a brunch at his family home, adding that she had become acquainted with Damien's family too. They bade goodbye to her family who was returning home and both Carmila and Damien headed straight for The Vaughn Manor. Upon arrival they were greeted by Damien's father Daniel Jonathan who happened to come back from a business trip. "Mila! Thanks for joining us for brunch" he said happily as he had always seen Carmila as a saving grace for the dull life of his son. Carmila smiled warmly at Daniel as she responded with a bit of cheekiness "Uncle Daniel, have I ever rejected your invitations? I'm quite disappointed that you think of me that way..." she added with a pout, Daniel laughed heartily and said waving his hands in the air "No, never... You always honour us with your presence" he justified himself with a smile on his face, "Come on in, don't just stand there" he beckoned them to enter.
...
At the patio was set all kinds of delicacies, that Carmila couldn't hold back and started salivating because it was truly a packed brunch. There were all sorts of dishes such as Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, Frittatas, Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread, Blueberry Buckle, Jalapeño Popper Bagels, Bagel Breakfast Sliders, Breakfast Strata and many more as well as fruit punch and fruit cocktails. It was an entire brunch feast that Lee-Anne had taken time to prepare, they said grace and started to dig in. Damien sat beside Carmila and Molly and Emily sat opposite them whilst the parents sat horizontally the father at the head of the table and mother at the other end.
It was such a lovely afternoon brunch that it took them nearly 3 hours to finish up their food. When they finished Molly and Emily helped clear the table as the housekeeper was away that weekend, meanwhile Damien invited Carmila to the backyard to view the new plants that they planted for the winter.
They kneeled down near the plant patch and were awed at how quick the plants started sprouting, Damien took a watering can to water the plants and Carmila offered to help too. They stayed in the backyard for quite some time just chatting about how work had been keeping both of them busy and time went by, it was almost 5pm by the time they realized how long they'd been just sitting side by side.
At that moment the sun started to set and it highlighted Carmila's side profile making her look all the more naturally beautiful, as there were no blemishes on her skin except for the cute mole on the left side of her bottom lip. Her eyes shone brighter with the orange and red hues that the sun set off on her. At that moment Damien was awestruck by her beauty, with little to no makeup she looked drop dead gorgeous. Her hair made her look even more surreal like a beautiful fairy that came straight out of a children's book.
Damien was completely mesmerised by her beauty that he couldn't hold back as his hand gently moved towards her face and he leaned in and whispered "Mila, you're amazing" he gently closed the distance between them as his lips gently brushed passed hers and at that moment it felt like the world around them seemed to stop. The kiss was gentle and it slowly turned passionate, neither realized how long they been like that, just savouring each other gently.
When it seemed like it wouldn't end Molly came out back to invite them in for dinner, she didn't know that her sudden action had actually interrupted the passion of a new flame. They came back to their senses and both feeling bashful coughed and Carmila who's face was redder than a tomato said "We— well I did promise my parents I'd be ba—back for dinner so I guess I should get going..." she stuttered in between her lines feeling a little embarrassed.
She stood up and Damien followed suit despite still being dazed for a moment and then coming back to his senses and affirming what Carmila said "Ye— yes I should go drop her off. I did promise her parents I'll bring her home in time for dinner." He was still a little reddish on the cheeks and followed Carmila into the house just passing by Molly and smiling out of shyness because they were caught.
They went to the living room where Damien's parents were in a discussion about some work related matters, the parents turned to look at Damien and Carmila who had just stepped into the living room. Carmila went towards them still a little flustered from earlier on "Uncle and Aunt, I'm sorry to announce that I won't be staying for dinner as I had promised my parents I'd be home by then. If you'd please excuse me this time around but I promise I'll join you next time" she explained in one breath. Mr and Mrs Vaughn were a little disappointed but were also understanding of the situation so they didn't take it to heart, "That's alright Carmila, please let me know so that I'll make your favorite dishes when you come next time for dinner" said Lee-Ann with a motherly smile on her face. She stood up to hug Carmila as she bid her goodbye.
They got into Damien's car and drove towards Avoca Hills. A while later they arrived and Damien turned off the engine and whilst they were unbuckling their seatbelts Damien turned towards Carmila, he was a little hesitant but ended up talking, "Carmila I'm sorry about earlier on, I didn't mean to, i— it's just I couldn't hold myself back and... and I—Uh ended up kissing you without your permission. I'm sorry, truly sorry about that..." Damien kept babbling on when suddenly Carmila pulled on his collar and kissed him so passionately that even he was utterly shocked by her initiative, after a few seconds he returned her kiss and they were like that for about 15 minutes when they were nearly out of breath, she let go of his collar and said to him "I don't regret a single moment of it, you don't have to apologize" looking him straight in the eyes and smiling.
Damien was still confused by her actions when she suddenly opened the door and exited the car saying I'll see you tomorrow then.
