Chapter 4 - 4 A LIFE WITHOUT HIM IS IMPOSSIBLE

When she started to think back to what happened earlier, she recalled everything until she was unconscious and also recalled crying her heart out for the love of her life.

Lily noticed the changes of expression on her face and understood that she must've recalled the ordeal she went through. She put a hand on Carmila's shoulder and comforted "I know what you went through isn't easy, but you must be strong in order to get better." She looked at Carmila with sincerity in her eyes and went on to say "In ten minutes I'll bring you to the examination room to get you checked and see if you'll be able to get transferred back home to further your treatment there. Carmila was taking everything in as she felt her heart shatter and clench all at once, the emotions she felt were overwhelming but she forced a smile and looked at the soft hand on her shoulder and nodded.

When Lily stepped out to go get a wheel chair she remembered to call Suraj and let him now of Carmila's well-being. When she had finished getting Carmila ready they stepped into the hallway leading to the elevator that they gestured to call but was already on its way, inside stood Suraj as it opened and upon seeing them he walked forward and hugged Carmila gently so as not to hurt her. He asked Lily if he could accompany them, to which she'd agreed but said he'd have to wait in the waiting area on the 3rd floor, as that was where the Examination room was located he helped Lily push the wheelchair onto the elevator.

After a series of exams, the nurse contacted Damien to let him know, he said he'd be arriving in an half an hour's time. So they went back to the 4th floor where Carmila's room was located. Whilst they were sitting silently Carmila asked "How are the preparations for Jessie's repatriation coming along," Suraj upon hearing this sunk into the sofa looking at how brave Carmila was trying to be. He took some time to voice out the preparations, after 3 minutes he spoke in gentle voice "The procedures are almost complete by Friday we'll be ready to take him home for his burial. Also we need you to be able to get back home to be closer to family." He added on "if you want you can call your parents and talk to them, they've been very worried" he said a little nervous.

Carmila truly did want to call her parents but her heart was yearning for Jessie. Just thinking about him brought tears to her eyes, she didn't hold back at all and let all her sobs out. Suraj didn't know how to comfort her so sat silently and let her calm down till she was ready to talk.

After more than 20 minutes she spoke in a hoarse voice "You know uncle Suraj, he was my everything, he was always there when I needed him. We spent our last month's preparing our special day only for everything to end after we'd enjoy our moment, and now it's like he never existed like our marriage never happened. He promised to always be by my side and where is he now? Huh?" She paused "He is lying in a fridge in a mortuary! I can't believe he broke his promise! This promise was destroyed by an accident. Now what will I do without him? How am I to live without him? There is literally no life without him! It's impossible!" She yelled the last part, at the same time Damien arrived and heard the commotion and peered through the window to see a heartbroken Carmila, he couldn't bear the clenching sensation in his chest. He didn't know why he felt this way towards her, someone he had just met but he felt that he needed to go in and comfort her, reaching for the door knob he knocked and then went in.

He greeted Mr Suraj and Carmila, after greeting them Suraj took the chance and introduced them to each other, "Carmila this Dr. Damien Vaughn, he assisted you when you fell unconscious. He will be the one to determine if you'll be able to leave on Friday." After saying his piece Carmila simply nodded to acknowledge him and there after Damien started to explain her condition "Well Carmila only suffered a minor concussion but that is fine as she'll be on medication for the next 5 days. Apart from that she suffered a broken arm, some abrasions to the neck and a sprained leg. Which is to say that there won't be really a problem when transferring her back to Luxembourg. She might feel discomfort but we'll get her some sedatives and pain killers to lessen the pain and discomfort." After saying this he made some notes and finally said "I'm going to prepare a letter of approval for her transfer that's all you'll need." Turning to Carmila he expressed his sincerest condolences and wished her good health and left promptly.
