Chereads / Undeath / Chapter 3 - The Next Step

Chapter 3 - The Next Step

They walked for awhile, hearing and seeing nothing. For a place for the dead it was, well, rather dead. The silence wasn't normal, though they were the ones that sent out all of their Undead to search and fight. Soon however, they came across corpses. Bunchs of Undead strewn about. You really couldn't tell if they died fighting each other or just fell over and died. After walking for awhile longer they heard the sounds of clattering and metal against metal.

They started moving quicker, eager to get into a brawl, what they saw took them by surprise. A huge amount of undead, what seemed to be nearing 500 were all fighting. More were pouring out of the mist, attracted by the sound. After a quick look, they rushed in. Compared to the rest of the mob, they were like gods. Every slash and stab sending Undead to their second untimely grave. Every punch, shield bash and reflection staggering and sending them flying. Oddly enough, the souls didnt go to them. They went somewhere to the middle. Noticing this, they began moving into the mob, killing all the way. As they got closer, all the Undead came to a standstill and turned to look at them, their pale, flickering green eyes, devoid of any life tracking their slightest twitch. They suddenly dropped, and collected in the center, rising into a hulking bone giant.

It was a good 15 feet tall, with a huge two handed warhammer in its hands. They could see the different heads of the Undead, their eyes empty and black. The bones formed a haphazard armor, bulker then necessary. On its head were three eyes, one in the middle of its forehead, the others placed normally. His third eye was off, like it was close. From his two normal eyes, however, a bright, warm yellow shone out of, circular in nature. It rotated in its sockets, locking onto the two of them. It growled, and rushed them. Whatever intelligence that could had been there was nonexistent. It was no smarter than the rest. It was however, built like a train and as strong as one.

They both sprinted around the sides, looked for somewhere to attack. The joints were alot thinner then the rest of its bulky body, so the both went in for the knees. However, this behemoth was fast enough to thrust its hammer into Crimison, sending him flying. Fast, strong, and built like a tank. Not that fast though and not as well built as thought. Azure cut through the bone and all but severed it, sending it crashing down. Either Azure was far more powerful, the sword was just amazing or this behemoth is alot weaker then assumed, the threat level just went down. However, almost immediately, the behemoth stood back up, all nice and mended and swung at Azure. It missed and Azure stepped forward, slicing through its wrists and cutting off its hands. Crimison ran up from the side and pierced through its knee, sending it down again.

"It hits fast and hard, but not too much and it has alot of health, but very little defence."

Azure nodded and swung towards its head. That energy that was seeped into its bones, erupted forward, adding aa glowing blue mist and edge to his sword and body as he cut through the behemoths head, ending it. It fell apart, making a pile of bones. The soul split, about 20% going to Crimison with the rest going to Azure.

Using that power seemed to have boosted everything. Why was Petty King going up though. Unless the Undead he sent had accomplished what he had wanted or as he got stronger it also went up.

Azure and Crimison looked around before deciding to head back. Hopefully some Undead came back with locations. The eerie silence returned before eventually they saw they obelisk with a couple battered and beaten Undead around it. The closest one was missing its legs and half of its ribcage. Crimison picked it up and it stared off to the northwest. They walked in that direction, killed the few Undead that got to close and looking around. Seeing the remants of battles here and there.

Eventually they came across another Obelisk and Azure laid his hand on it and absorbed its power, claiming it for his own. They dropped the Undead and walked back, following the other remaining Undead to the Obelisks they found. Azure claimed 4, most of them just being repeats. Once they got to the 5th, Azure claimed it before beckoning Crimison to lay his hand on it. He wanted to test something.

When Crimison put his hand on it, a screen appeared before Azure.

Appoint Entity (Crimison as a Lord) Y/N?

Azure thought yes and Crimison looked over at him as the glowing blue obelisk started glowing red on some runes.

"I figured if you're going to follow me, you'll need more power. This should help, hopefully."

Crimison walked over and kneeled.

"I will never betray you, my lord. I will protect both you and all you own with my life. I swear to it."

Crimison has sworn a binding oath to you. If he betrays this oath he will suffer severe repercussions such as losing stats, titles, paths and even dying.

Azure reached down and pulled Crimison up.

"As long as you never waiver from your oath, you will always find a home by my side."

They began walking back towards the first obelisk and found thousands of Undead surrounding it. They all turned and faced them, just like when they fought the behemoth. They instinctively got ready to fight, but instead they sea of bones parted, making a path straight to the obelisk. Azure and Crimison walked down the path, looking back to see the Undead close the path behind them.

When they reached the obelisk, it had changed. it was twice the height it once was, seeming to be about 100 feet tall and had gotten much wider. There were alot more runes on it and some of them were red. Azure put his hand on it and the Domain System was pulled up.

Azure could feel he could pull up a page and see what kind of buildings he could have built in his domain as well as see how large the amount of land he controlled was. There was alot to do and he felt like he needed more Awakened on his side to take care of things. He closed the menu and looked towards Crimison and his legions, ready to look for more like him.
