Chapter 3 - SUNDAY the NINTH of JULY

In a darkly litted room, in an undisclose location, known only to twenty in habitat five. The Council was having one of their many meetings since the death of countless explorers has become tainted in controversies.

"Let me state for the record," A scientist with blackish and greyish hair, wearing a lab coat and glasses named William Fairchild spoke calmly. He was the same scientist who came up with cryogenic sleep. "This is the year 2361 of the ancient Gregorian Calendar. We, habitants of habitat five, were never supposed to awaken in this century. The very same monsters we attempted to escape from are still lurking around even after sleeping for two hundred years.

In fact, we were supposed to awaken sometime between 2423 and 2450. Among all the habitats, The Old World created, we awoke the earlierst and now we have to suffer the consequences. As of today's date, the Council has yet to take any initiative of informing the public the truth".

"You know why we don't tell our habitants the truth. We told some people about it, once. They committed mass genocide. Do you wish for that to happen again, Fairchild?" asked a grumpy man with gray hair and beard. He was the oldest man in the Council. He was called Juvius Warmire.

"I don't want mass genocide but keeping this secret from the people frighten me. It frightens me to think what would happen if the people found out about it"

"That's why, as long as you do your job, no one will question the Council. No one will ever be the wiser" replied an elderly woman. She had grayish hair. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. She was old but nowhere near as old as Juvius. Her name was Olanda Markoth.

"This isn't the topic of today's discussion, doctor, and you know that" replied the youngest member of the council that was just sixteen years old. Dorothy Goodwin.

"I k-know. I just can't shake off this awful feeling as if everything we are doing is wrong"

"You are supposed to be a scientist, doctor, and you are opposing the Twilight Plan because of a bad feeling, doctor?" asked Dorothy.

"N-no, of course not" Replied the doctor with a sigh. "I am terribly sorry, I won't bring it up again"

"Let us get back to the topic at hands, then?" replied Dorothy. "What have you figured is killing all those explorers, doctor?"

"The same thing that gave us powers is killing us"
