After everyone left the hospital room, only he and Zunnie remained. She had slept for a few hours during the day and the paleness which once lingered was gradually disappearing. Her CT scan that had been scheduled was moved back considering she was too weak.
Alex laid down beside her and stayed silent as he looked up at the white hospital ceiling. His heart was pounding so loud he wondered if she could hear it. He wanted to speak to her but for some reason, the silence felt really good. Too bad it was short lived because Zunnie spoke.
"Darling are you alright? She asked him gently.
"Mhm…" He replied then turned his head to look at her. Her piercing deep blue eyes were gazing right at into his. The moment his eyes met here Alex's heart skipped a beat. The worry he saw in them sent a wave of warmness through his body.
'She was the one who was in a coma for three months yet still she's worried about me. She's the one with her head covered in bandages laying in a hospital bed, and she is asking me if I'm alright.' Alex couldn't help wondering.
He forcefully tore his eyes away from hers, as his heart began to ache. He couldn't protect her but even though she was badly hurt and may be scarred for life, she was worried about him.
Alex clenched his fist to fight the emotions welling up inside him. He wanted nothing more but to hold her and make love to her tenderly. He had missed her terribly these past few months and hearing her ask him that almost brought tears to his eyes.
"Are you sure? Because you didn't eat much today. And you've lost weight. Will you be able to carry me princess style when I'm better?" She scolded him.
Alex chuckled then pinched her nose, entertained by her.
"Is that what you're worried about? I'll fatten up now that I know you're here to scold me and feed me. You're thinking too much honey." He joked whilst touching her temples.
"I'm glad that you're laughing. All day your mind has been elsewhere. I'm awake now, so you don't have to keep stressing. I can only imagine how hard it was for you and everyone but please be happy. Nothing was your fault."
Even at her weakest, she knew exactly what he was thinking. As he listened to Zunnie trying to comfort him, he thoughts drifted off the what he the guys had spoken about previously.
"Honey, quickly get better so I can take you home. I've spent three months in the hospital I'm beginning to think I'm a doctor."
"Ah Dr. Zi, I'm not feeling too well. My body is warm all over and my heart is beating really fast." She seductively looked up at him.
"Hm, then let me..." He bent his head and kissed her passionately.
He pulled his lips away from her mouth seeing she had no intentions of stopping.
"Honey, what are you doing? You need to get better first. Should I give you a cold shower to help you?"
She nodded. Alex walked over to her side and was amid picking her up but stopped when she said;
"Don't you dare!" She giggled.
"Alright, Alright. I was only teasing you." He threw his hand up to admit defeat.
"Are coma patients that horny when they wake up?" He mumbled as he walked back to his side of the bed.
"Are you not a doctor? So, you should know the answer." Her soft reply startled him since he had not expected her to hear him.
"Ha-ha, what's gotten into you? You're so feisty today."
"I'm tired of laying in this bed. Can we go out for a walk?" She pouted her lips.
"I see, you're suffering from boredom. It's late; we can go tomorrow."
"Then tell me about the accident. I know you must be looking into it. Did you already find the person who was driving?"
Her question stunned Alex. He mulled over whether he should tell her now or wait. After silently deliberating he said;
"Let's go for a walk instead. We can talk about this later."
He left the room to find the nurses to ask them for a wheelchair.
When he got back to the room she was sitting up in bed. He rolled the wheelchair to her side then sat her in it. He placed his jacket over her shoulders and wheeled her to the elevator to head outside.
On the way out, they met Carson who had his back to them. He was holding a brown envelope and was in casual attire.
Noticing he had not seen them, Alex slowly pushed Zunnie to where he stood, only to find him speaking to someone on the phone.
He quietly waited because he wanted Carson to see that the person he had devoted his energy and time to help, had awakened from the coma.
Little did he know that Carson was aware that Zunnie had woken up since he had hacked into her hospital files.
