Chapter 52 - Meet the Parents

Given that Zunnie had taken him to meet her family, Alex also wanted his grandparents to become acquainted with her.

Informing his grandfather about Zunnie had gone well. Since he did not want to explain his and Zunnie's relationship over the phone, Alex had not given his grandfather details and only said he was seeing someone. At that time his intention was to cut his grandfather off.

Old Mr. Zi had telephoned Alex to invite him over for dinner with the Monte family. Alex was familiar with the Montes and knew they had a daughter two years older than him. The moment his grandfather mentioned that the Montes would be joining them for dinner, he had immediately declined and said he was seeing someone.

Thinking about the brief conversation, a neurotic feeling filled Alex's heart. Old Mr. Zi had only asked Alex to bring the girl over, so they could meet the woman who stole his heart. He had not said anything of person he had proposed or to whom.

When he called the Zi mansion, all he said was that he found the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life with, and he was bringing her to meet them.

Alex always liked doing things his way. He was the basketball team's star and had gotten a scholarship to play for a renowned university overseas. Although he followed the rules, Alex always felt that being restricted seemed like a nuisance.

Now that he had someone important to love and protect, he was happy. If he had to abide by the rules to please Zunnie, then he definitely would. The void his dead parents left behind was slowly been filled by Zunnie. When he was with Zunnie, he could be himself and not care who happened to be watching.

A somber feeling came over him as he looked to the dark sky and saw droplets of water falling from it. The rain reminded him of the day his father died. It had rained all day, just like it was currently raining.

The party they were hosting was in memory of his father who held it every year. To keep his memory alive, the tradition had not been abandoned.

Alex picked up his phone and dialed a number. The person answered immediately.

"Lex? How are you baby brother? I promise you I'm not neglecting you. Is everything okay?" Sasha Zi's cheerful voice could be heard on the other end of the call.

"Sash, yes you have been neglecting me. I haven't seen my niece in two months. Why exactly did you move so far away?" Alex replied.

"I'm only an hour away, Lex. That's shouldn't stop you from coming."

You're right I should try harder. Did you get the invitation for next weekend?"

"Mhm…"

"And…?" Alex questioned his big sister.

"I'll be there. Don't worry. Is everything okay? I miss you."

"I found someone I want to marry. She's really pretty, she's very stubborn and reminds me of you sometimes." The solemn look had disappeared from Alex's amber eyes and warm spark replaced it.

"No shit…you're kidding right. Ha-ha, don't joke with me Lex. You seriously need to find someone for real or you'll die a lonely old man." Sasha said mockingly.

"Sis I'm serious. Remember when you called and asked me about spending ten billion just for a dinner date? Her name is Zunnie Bai. I'm going to marry her."

"You're not kidding...Congrats baby brother. Now you can get rid of all those stupid bitches."

"Mhm… No need to get vulgar. Brother in law isn't around to hear you?"

"Ha-ha, he's with the baby. By the way, I know of a patient whose son was treated by Dr. Zunnie Bai. I heard she's a really good counseling psychologist. Can't wait to meet her to get an autograph."

"An autograph?" Alex was stunned.

"Mhm, she's famous in the medical field. Lex, you're marrying her, yet you don't know how respectable she is? Shameless little brother. Very unacceptable." Sasha said trying to sound angry.

Alex became worried as he mulled over introducing Zunnie to his grandparents.

"Sis will Nana and grandpa like her? I'm bringing her to the mansion tomorrow."

"Don't worry, as long as you're happy they will approve. Plus, from what I've heard Dr. Zunnie Bai is not a bad person."

"Mhm, see you next week," Alex said bye then ended the call.

Whenever he spoke to Sasha he always felt better. The gloomy mood earlier had vanished.

Alex went back to his desk and worked for an hour before driving to a grocery market on the way home. Tonight, he was going to cook dinner for Zunnie and massage her shoulders.

He had no idea how exceptional she was at her job. Even though he didn't admit it out loud, he had been happy when Sasha spoke highly of Zunnie.

He opened iMessage and sent her a text, "Dinner at 8pm. Wear something sexy. *Inserts naughty emoji."
