August has arrived school has started again, but for Gen Zhang Channing his world is about to turn upside down. As he starts walking to school as usual for the past 4 years. He realized one thing that is not going so well for him. Gen doesn't have many friends unless you count his classmates who copies his homework "friends". Gen Zhang Channing 17 years old a junior in high school. Does his homework takes his tests, but does not stand out he's not the brightest nor the slowest. Just an average student if anything he does enough to get by.
Gen walks slowly now feeling very sad for himself for not making much memories in high school. "This year is the year I'll make friends and not be such a loner" Gen thinks to himself trying to hype himself up for a better year than the last. As Gen starts making his way up the steps into the court yard of the school he sees a lot of signs and banners. Yes this is exactly what Gen was hoping for. The advertisements for school clubs where he hopes to make friends in the club he chooses to join. Scouting the area from the front of the court yard Gen can see that there are plenty of clubs to pick from. Ranging from indoor to outdoor activities the choices was unlimited. Colorful signs and banners everywhere with students shouting and pointing at other students trying to get their attention to sign up. Gen starts to get excited he walks towards the crowded bunch of students whose faces shows how lost they are in what club to sign up for. "You there! yes you with the bowl cut hair! look over here when i speak to you!" A high pitch female voice shouting over everyone else's. Not only was she shouting towards a specific student. The bowl cut male student is now in sweat trying not to stand out by pretending he didn't hear her. The loud female student was in the Soccer Club who was scouting students to join by pointing out the obvious features of other students.
"Hey! get down from the table Yuri! you're not allowed to be on the table and whats with being so specific with his bowl cut?" A male student now trying to get Yuri the female student shouting from the table whose working on recruiting the bowl cut student. "I was just making sure i got his attention that's all what's wrong with that Johnny?" says Yuri as she carefully gets down from the table. Gen stands there trying not to stand out which in his life time never stood out, but now he feels a bit scare as the bowl cut student is now standing near him. Trying to make sure nothing on him will make him stand out or get pin pointed. Gen starts fiddling around fixing himself up. "Hello there! my name is Johnny Carter and your name is?" Gen hears Johnny's voice in front of him and says "Hi my name is Gen...". As Gen says this looking up he realized that Johnny wasn't speaking to him, but to the bowl cut student next to him. The conversation starts while Gen stands there embarrassed for answering when he wasn't being talked to. Feeling this awkward moment and hoping no one saw what just happened. Gen starts to walk away from the crowd into another crowd. "How stupid are you Gen how can you just start answering without looking first?" Gen starts questioning himself about the awkwardness that just happened seconds ago. Now in a new crowd Gen starts looking around him to his surprise he's now in the indoor club section of the court yard.
"So brah i just saw what happened there". Gen hears a male voice from behind him and starts to feel sweaty as he knows for sure that this student is definitely speaking to him this time. Not to get embarrassed again Gen turns to make sure that the student is talking to him first before responding. Turning around he sees that yes this student was now standing directly in front of him. "So you saw what just happened are you trying to make me feel like crap?" Gen asked. "Nope, but you look like you want to join the Soccer Club though or am i wrong?" asked the male student. "I'm not sure if i wanted to or not whats my choice got to do with you?" Gen now curious about this male student's intention answers his question with a question. "My name is Bradley Shaw and I'm in the Gaming Club". Gen feels somewhat relieved now that he knows this nobody who is in the gaming club can't possibly have any sort of advantage on him. Folks who plays video games aren't usually very athletic nor have a good physique as those who plays sports. "Well now that i have got your attention would you like to take a look at our club?" Bradley enthusiastically asking Gen. "Uh suuure?" Gen not even sure what the Gaming Club does was being polite and did not give a full yes response is now being dragged. Not only was Gen being dragged away from the crowd he's literally being dragged away from the court yard where the scouting was being held.
Dragged out of the court yard up the steps through the front door of the school building down the hall. "You're in for a treat bro!" Bradley holding on tight to Gen's arm pulling him through the many halls of the school. "Hey! where are we going?" Gen not sure where he is being dragged to questions this enthusiastic Bradley. Without answering Bradley finally gets Gen to where they were headed to and opens the door. In this room it looks like any ordinary room a table in the center with 6 chairs around it. Two window that lets in just enough lighting to light up the room. "Tada!! we're here at the gaming club room!" Bradley excitedly tells Gen. Entering the empty room Gen feels as though there is something odd about it. "So is it just you? are there any other members?" Gen now wondering if this is even a club if its just one person? clubs are suppose to have more than one member correct? While pondering over this Bradley had already let go of Gen's arm and is standing by the window staring out into the court yard. "I see those peons is worst off than i am" Bradley says this while smiling although hearing this Gen is now wondering why Bradley is smiling and who are these peons hes talking about? "So who are these peons you're talking about? and what is a peon?" Gen asking out of curiosity now. "Ah are you not familiar with gaming?" Bradley asking Gen now trying to figure how big of a noob Gen is. "well I've played some console games such as Alley Fighters and Immortal Scumbag" Gen answering with a slight depressed tone as if this felt as though it was enough, but not enough at the same time to justify his gaming knowledge.
"I see that gives me enough confidence in you then at least you're not a complete garbage if you know how to play those games." Bradley not trying to give much credit, but at the same time not trying to shame Gen on his lack of gaming experience either. Bradley walks over to Gen and gives Gen a few pieces of paper. "Here take this read over it and let me know what your answer is tomorrow." Bradley saying that to Gen with a serious tone, but not giving much hint of why he's not explaining anything about the papers. Gen taking the papers from Bradley not saying anything as he kind of fear Bradley's answer if he were to ask now. "I'll read over it and ill come back here to find you tomorrow thank you" walking away from the gaming club room or what looks like a normal room. "well that was not what i expected at all" Gen talking to himself walking down the hall. The bell rings for class to start and Gen spends the rest of the day attending his classes as usual no one notices him nor did he stand out this year either.....
