As early as their meeting in the underground warehouse, Leng Yuchen had been saving An Qi. However, what fell back then was a massive crane. This time, though not as heavy as the crane, the object of danger was far superior in both height and speed.
According to the energy equation E=mc2, the effect that an object had on An Qi's head depended entirely on its weight and speed.
Haha, could it be that the previous weight test was not good enough, so it was changed into a speed test this time? It almost feels like the universe is determined to get An Qi killed by random falling objects! As Leng Yuchen recalled all that had happened to An Qi recently, he raised the corner of his mouth into a chilling smile.
In the distance, Sheng Jie and Dong Manman were rushing over after hearing the commotion, while An Yufei stood behind her mother without An Qi's knowledge. An Yufei's delicate little face was crumpled up and her brows were furrowed, as if she was deep in thought.
"What happened? I only left you for a short while! Why are the things scattered all over?" Dong Manman stepped down from the roller coaster and felt a little dizzy. But, when she saw the scattered things, she instantly snapped back to reality.
When Dong Manman saw that the bottle of sunscreen that she always carried with her was smashed because it had fallen from a high altitude, and then glanced over at An Qi to see that she was being hugged by Leng Yuchen, Dong Manman immediately knew what had happened. Suddenly, Dong Manman's eyes had a tinge of dark green, and like a hungry wolf, she appeared as if she was about to eat people up!
"Who on earth did this?" she asked, a wild look in her eyes.
"Don't panic, Manman. As long as Boss Leng is around, An Qi will be fine." As Sheng Jie was comforting her, he kept looking at Leng Yuchen. He had really only said that in order to comfort Dong Manman.
At that moment, an icy coldness came over Leng Yuchen. Sheng Jie had been working alongside him for some time, so he was used to seeing this reaction from his boss.
In fact, every time he got upset, which is something Sheng Jie termed a "freezing moment," Leng Yuchen would choose several people to take his icy anger out on.
In the Leng Group, some people had even tried their best to name this particular situation, and what they had come up with was a mood of Leng Yuchen's that they now called "sacrificial worship!" It was a funny description, but it was quite fitting to this situation!
At present, in addition to the family of three, only Sheng Jie and Dong Manman were present. Since Dong Manman was not an official employee of the Leng Group, she luckily had the protection from the brunt of Leng Yuchen's wrath since she was An Qi's best friend.
This meant that the object of this "sacrificial worship" would be… At the thought of this, Sheng Jie kept quiet automatically. In fact, this thought made him so nervous that he almost even stopped breathing!
He then quietly retreated and stood beside An Yufei, awaiting Leng Yuchen's next instructions. Apparently, An Qi did not expect Leng Yuchen to appear in such perfect timing.
She had thought that she was doomed. But, when she opened her eyes again, she was in his familiar embrace.
"Yuchen?" An Qi nudged him, then said, "Yuchen, I'm alright."
However, the person above her did not respond. Suddenly, An Qi seemed to realize something, so she struggled to get up from the ground, trying to escape Leng Yuchen's embrace.
But, Leng Yuchen's arms were tightly wrapped around An Qi. Hence, no matter how An Qi struggled against him, he refused to let go of her.
"Yuchen, you better let me go, as I want to take a look at your back! Does it hurt?" An Qi struggled harder and harder, and soon, her shirt was soaked in her perspiration. But, Leng Yuchen still held her tight.
During this whole process, An Qi was terrified. For a moment, her mind even flashed with a picture of Leng Yuchen's funeral, while a sense of foreboding and fear filled her heart.
In this flash, his dark gray tombstone was flanked by red roses. Occasionally, crows flew overhead, and the noise they made was very ominous and disturbing.
An Qi had personally experienced similar scenes before. As early as twenty years ago, she had hid behind An Shijie and witnessed her mother's funeral in this same exact way.
An Qi's heart was weighed down all of a sudden. In fact, her heart felt even heavier than those bags that had fallen from the tower. She found it hard to breath and felt like she was about to suffocate. As she fought to control her emotions, a single tear glided silently down from the corner of her eyes.
That teardrop fell onto Leng Yuchen's clothes, and although it did not make a sound, it immediately woke Leng Yuchen. Just a moment before this, a huge dragon of a temper was raging and spitting fire inside his heart because he wanted to avenge An Qi.
But, with just a tiny teardrop containing An Qi's sweet smell, the raging anger and fire of that dragon had been extinguished in an instant. At the same time, Leng Yuchen returned to his senses and wiped the trace of that tear off of An Qi's face, while whispering softly, "An Qi, are you hurt?"
Initially, An Qi had allowed only that single tear to escape the corner of her eye, as she was busy focusing on trying to help Leng Yuchen check his injury. But, after confirming that he seemed okay and his thoughts were lucid, she could no longer hold back the tears.
A deluge of tears burst out of her in an instant, blurring An Qi's vision. She could not stop sobbing as she whimpered, "I'm alright. Did you get hit, Yuchen? Why couldn't you move for such a long while?"
Leng Yuchen watched An Qi's shoulders tremble as she sniffed. The fact that she was still answering his questions, just so that he would not worry, touched him deeply.
His heart was filled with happiness in an instant. Seeing such thoughtfulness in An Qi made him adore her.
"Yuchen, don't move. I'll help you up," An Qi said.
Luckily, since Leng Yuchen had been protecting An Qi's head, she had not suffered any physical trauma. However, Leng Yuchen's situation did not seem as favorable.
An Qi got behind Leng Yuchen and said to Sheng Jie, "Help me hold Yuchen so that I can check on his back."
Finally, Sheng Jie could prove that he was useful. Thus, without any delay, he used all of his strength to support Leng Yuchen's body.
An Qi looked at An Yufei, who had been silent for a long time. An Yufei nodded to her reassuringly, as if to say, "Everything will be alright."
Unfortunately, because of the psychological trauma of losing her close relatives when she was a child, An Qi was still terrified. Her hands trembled as she began to gather Leng Yuchen's dust-stained clothes that had been scattered about from the fallen luggage.
In an instant, An Qi's pupils suddenly shrank and a large number of shocking scenes flashed before her eyes, all of which made An Qi subconsciously stagger back a few steps.
As it turned out... That last heavy bag that had fallen had actually hit Leng Yuchen! Upon realizing this, An Qi looked up at the towering towers. Even if a small stone fell from such a high altitude, it would become like a bullet in regards to its damage potential.
Fortunately, as Dong Manman had always liked suede bags, which are much softer than most, the impact that the bag had on Leng Yuchen was not too big. Otherwise, Leng Yuchen would probably be dead at this very moment.
"An Qi, Yufei, the two of you don't have to worry. After I take a little rest, I can continue walking again." At this time, Leng Yuchen's voice drifted over to his two most beloved family members.
Even though he had suffered such a trauma, his voice as he spoke to An Qi and An Yufei was still so soft, so gentle, and so light.
