"Aaaargh!!" Erika Itoh slammed a flower vase to the floor. Her apartment was a mess. She ran her fingers through her long hair. Her lips trembled in anger. It was really hard for her to maintain self control after a conversation with the RHK prop crew.
She was laughing in distress then pulled her long hair back to clear her face. The conversation from the prop crew kept repeating in her head.
"I'm sorry Ms. Itoh, but RHK is launching a massive investigation for the falling unicorn incident. I cannot continue to do what you ask."
"I'll give you more money. You can't just stop halfway!?"
"The order came from the high level. They threatened to fire everyone if we fail to give a complete report."
Back to the present. Her eyes were looking right and left in panic as if she was seeking for some answers. She grabbed a bottle of wine then chugged it. The red wine were dripping from the corners of her lips and stained her sharp chin. Her white top slowly turned purple. She was going crazy.
All she ever wanted was to get rid of a nobody like Shizu Katagiri. She was tired of hearing her name. That name that kept coming out from Kira's sweet mouth. She had never hated anyone more than she hated her.
The first time she met Kira- she was a brokenhome teenager who ran from home. Her father just passed away and her mother was sleeping around with her uncles to dig some expensive stuff. She was actually a good girl and loved her mother so much, but she was angry at her mother for betraying her late father.
She ran away from home and stayed over in Meiji Art School for almost a month, it was the talent school where she attended modeling class. It was also the place where Kira and the Yamada Twins had their extra music lessons after school. In that place she met Kira for the first time. He was a rookie who just debuted with Kumo Bell. Unlike the Yamada Twins who were always on their own and did not try to associate themselves with people, friendly Kira was a popular kid who could be friends with anyone. However, she would not say hi to him as she was struggling with her depression.
On a hot summer day when she was dozing off all alone under a tree, Kira handed her a can of soda and greeted her. He said he liked the book that she was holding. From there on they started being friends.
It was very easy to talk to Kira. It would not take you long to realize that he had a pure heart and was a good listener. People would think that his parents raised him well and want him as their son in law. In Erika Itoh's case, she wanted him as her boyfriend but it didn't take her long to realize that Kira Atsui was deeply in love with his girlfriend, Shizu Katagiri.
He had a lovely smiley face that made you want to smile with him and always said kind words that put your heart at ease, but he would have the softest expression whenever he talked about his girlfriend. The way he talked about her, the way he imagined her every reaction, the way he called her name and his expression whenever he saw her name appearing on his phone screen... Only ignorant idiots would not notice about his love for her.
Erika Itoh accepted the fact that Kira was deeply in love with his girlfriend so she turned a blind eye to her feeling and continued being a good friend. She would tell him everything about her complicated family and and Kira would listen without giving her any judgment. Thanks to Kira's advice, she even made up with her mother.
Well, she rarely saw him as he got busier with his band activity and prefered to spend his free time with his girlfriend. But that didn't reduce her admiration towards him. He had always been that one kid that drew attention wherever he went. A gentleman who knew how to behave in public no matter how tiring and frustrating the entertainment industry was. As a rookie, a lot of bigger stars and reporters tried to bring him down but he would never show his anger or lose control no matter what dramas that the celebrity life threw him. A smiley Kira. That was one expression that he always showed to everyone.
Until one day, Erika Itoh casually went to visit Kira's favorite restaurant with her friends. Kira mentioned about this popular horror-themed restaurant where he often took Shizu for a date. It was a unique dark restaurant where the diners ate in a prison cell! You could mix your own drinks with test tubes and beakers, you'd witness monsters of all kinds run past your cell and pop their heads in to give you a fright. Shizu was not a huge fan of horror movies but she loved the food there, that's why Kira would take her there to enjoy the food.
Erika was really amazed by the restaurant, even the restrooms were dark and terrifying. As she was walking back to her cell from the bathroom- she peeped on a closed cell to see if the cells (dining rooms) were all identical. Why were all cells opened but not this one? Her heart shrank as she saw a familiar figure crying all alone in an empty cell. Just this morning she read an article about his engagement with some famous rapper girl.
Erika Itoh instinctively opened the door and entered the cell. Unlike her cell that was full of creepy sound effect, his was silent. He ordered a full set of meal but touched none. His face was burried in his folded arms but she recognized that figure immediately. Apparently he put the 'do not disturb' sign on his cell.
Kira raised his head as Erika Itoh entered his cell. His face was all red, his eyes were all wet and swollen, he was gaping for more air, beneath his sweater she could tell that he was still wearing his school uniform. Did he skip school? That calm and kindhearted boy that never showed anything but warmth to the people around him.. What made him cried so much?
"Are you okay?" She was hesitating before she finally asked him.
Kira shook his head and rubbed the tears from his eyes. "I'm not okay, I'm dying. It's over, she hates me." Tears would not stop falling from his eyes.
Erika Itoh sat next to him and just listened as he was talking and crying over Shizu. Her chest was bleeding with every tear that dropped from Kira's eyes. After he vented all of his frustration, he excused himself and went to the restroom. Erika took a deep breath and hit her chest softly to ease the pain from her heart but then a smile appeared on her face. She bursted into laughter and almost cried from laughing. What an idiot!
She did feel sad for Kira but when the thought of Kira being single crossed her mind, she couldn't help but let the greed take over her head. She was not even sure if Kira was really single but hey, Kira said that Shizu hated him now, right? She rested her figure to the chair as she tried to calm herself but then she noticed that Kira's phone was laying on the table. So she took his phone, opened the hidden setting, looked for Shizu Katagiri on his contact list then chuckled lightly before finally pressing that button.
