Chapter 5 - Agreement
"These terms you say, state that slipspace drive use must be reduced to civilian use only, Commander Tacitus?" "Yes, we will also be required to pay compensation for the destruction caused by our attack", the Dittakar consulted over a similar cube like holographic device that presented a larger image of the Hegemon of the Dittakar, though the holographic image was at times staticy you could see a golden robe worn with a skull and star symbol on the side representing the galactic nation, Commander Tacitus a cordial and one of the few Dittakar considered to be more reasonable and cordial than the rest of his species oversaw the preparations for the failed attempt in capturing Issophon though sensed that the Qatari were the ones pulling the strings he speaks again to the Hegemon "Limiting our use of slipspace drives for civilian tech will inflict great reduce our fleets ability to respond to any hostile threats" the Hegemon nodded his head to the side noting this though remaining unconcerned "Alternatives can always and will be found, very well confirm the acceptance of the Sejetharians terms terms and sign the agreement Commander Tacitus" "I will see it done" the commander responds and deactivated the hologram vacuuming the image away. Frustrated that the hegemon agreed to the terms pulled out his communicating device to contact Governor Hoxis so that they may resume negotiations, after a few seconds of calling the governor answered "I trust all is well" he says expecting a response from Tacitus "Yes, the hegemon finds terms acceptable, negotiations may resume Governor Hoxis" "pleased to hear it" the Governor returned "allow me to contact the Sejatharian admirals so they know to return, please make your way back to the conference chambers Commander Tacitus" the Governor who was not known for conversation closure with lower ranking individuals instantly cut off the call leaving Tacitus to proceed back to the room. Tacitus looked to his companion Fleet Officer Veeru Treyka and walked up slowly saying "The positivity is too strong with the governor, I believe he is gaining more than peace from this" to which Veeru responds "possibly, but that is not our concern for now" as he makes his way out of their temporary chambers alongside Tacitus "Besides, the Qatari are known for their conspiring nature" Tacitus noting this looks to the floor in concern as they continue back to the negotiating table, "The hegemon mentioned finding alternatives, you got any idea what those might be", Veeru looks at Tacitus whilst still in motion "Hyperdrives, warp drives, and jump drives, though speculative, those could be a valid replacement for the slipspace drive that our military is now prohibited from utilising, now please, enough of this lets just get back to the conference room" Veeru's annoyance with the Commander was obvious, though Tacitus outranked Veeru he respected him and after ten years of service alongside one another aboard their frigate knew it was best not to cause any more annoyance to the Fleet Officer.
Whilst walking going towards the conference chambers multiple Qatari's hurried past them bearing insignias of the Yndar research center, causing the two Dittakar to turn their heads in their direction curiously but quickly lost interest as the entrance to the conference chambers was now insight with the familiar figure of Governor Hoxis standing outside the entrance awaiting the two Dittakar who lifted their heads towards the Governor and approached him "Greetings once more Governor Hoxis, have the Sejatharians been contacted about the resumption of negotiations?" asked Commander Tacitus to which the Governor responds "Indeed, Grand Admiral Callus Gavern has been contacted and is gathering Admirals Secundus and Duros to meet back in the conference room, I would like to speak to you privately afterwards about an alternative for your slipspace Drives" Tacitus is surprised by this and asks "What kind of alternatives? The Hegemon mentioned something about finding one, what options are there?" "As I said we shall speak privately after the conclusion of the peace agreement" with all this said the 3 individuals entered the chambers and seated themselves at the right end of the circular table whilst Governor Hoxis sat himself in the oval chair at the front, the 3 admirals were still yet to arrive as the two Dittakar postured themselves as Governor Hoxis did clasping his hands together preparing for their arrival.
After preparing and a few minutes of waiting for their arrival footsteps echoed down the hall into the chambers as Commander Tacitus noticed 3 familiar figures appear at the end of the hall silently speaking to one another as they approach the entrance. Tacitus shifts his view towards Veeru and who with an almost satisfied expression consumed by the alternatives Governor Hoxis may offer them. The 3 admirals now stood outside the entrance and rose the Governor from his posture by knocking 3 times on the entrance to be granted entry, Hoxis with a push of a button from his datapad allows the trio entry to the chambers who now seated themselves at their end of the table, "I believe an agreement has been made" Governor Hoxis states looking at the commander indicating him to announce the acceptance of terms "Yes, our Hegemon finds your terms acceptable and will comply, compensation will be given for the damage sustained on your world" Tacitus clasps his hands together looking towards the Grand Admiral to get a response, Grand Admiral Callus Gavern was a stern man and showed this by without hesistance signing his end of the treaty and then sliding it across the table giving a stern and judgemental look. Tacitus places his hand on the treaty and pulls it towards him placing his signature at his hand following this by handing it to Fleet Officer Veeru who shakes his head in frustration and aggressively signs his name. With this done Commander Tacitus takes hold of the treaty and hands it back over to the Grand Admiral "And so it is done, we shall adjust to these terms immediately" "Thank you for cooperating towards a lasting peace" Says the Grand Admiral as he places his hand out towards Tacitus who takes it allowing a hand shake to take place cementing the agreement between the two races, Tacitus whilst shaking hands with the Grand Admiral truly wondered if this really would guarantee a permanent peace.
