Fleeing from Egypt
Where a murder he had committed
To an unfamiliar land
Where he tried to stay hidden
.
He fell in love
He married
Became a shepherd
And for many sheep
He was caring
.
But one wandered off one day
And he follows after
To a cave so hollowed
He took off his shoes
The ground still untrampled
.
There, a bush was on fire
But there was no heat
He has nothing to say
But still
god chose him to speak
.
Returning to Egypt
Moses spoke with the pharaoh
He gave god's warning
To let his people go
.
No, I will not let you people go
Was the response
In fact, their toils are now doubled
.
So, walking away
So be it, he said
Then, striking the water turned it to blood
.
Then came the frogs
The lice and the flies
The livestock fell dead
And on men, the boils did rise
.
Patision your god
The pharao cried
And I will let you people go
But when the plagues
Began to recede
The pharaoh changed his mind
.
Spitting out the words
Smooth as oil
He gave a warning
Of worse to come
.
And down came the hail
To flatten the crops
Then came the locust
To eat what was left all up
Then came darkness
In all of Egypt
No light
.
So Moses once more
Gave him his message
He begged him to listen
Before the unthinkable happene
.
But the pharaoh's heart was hardened
he would not listen
So the final plague came
And all the firstborn were slain
There is nothingng for him to do
But stop and kneel
And lament in tears
Moses had shown him what it's like
To challenge god for real
