Chapter 8 – Privilege and Bugs
"Yesterday, a total of five thousand elite students around the world entered the game. For those that have chosen a lifestyle career, you're safe, and you don't have to worry about a thing. But, I have to warn all of you that have chosen a military type career. Is there any of you that have chosen a combat class other than the Psychic Division?"
Mia gulped and raised his hand.
Luckyaf stared at Mia, "Did you quit the career midway or delete your account while you're inside the boot camp?"
Mia shook his head.
Seeing the response, Luckyaf nodded, "That's good. There's a bug in the game that the Government and the contracted company failed to fix. If any of you try to escape the tutorial quest by quitting the game after you get off the bus, you won't be able to log out until the game ejects you in the morning."
Luckyaf stared at Mia, "Secondly, the training of the Marine is the harshest while the Navy and the Air-Force are a little easier. But they are still ten-times harder than the Psychic Department. Anyone that went through the training will suffer from insomnia in the morning because the brain didn't get enough rest. Student Mia, did you feel like you lack sleep this morning?"
Mia nodded.
"You don't seem tired. How did you recover from the lack of sleep?"
"Eh? Err, manual circulation maintenance. I can use the MBR."
"Oh? That's nice. Did you join the space army program during middle school?"
"Y-Yes."
"Now I understand why your appearance and your voice are like that. You don't have to worry about the side effect of the game and my class."
One of the students raised his hand, "Professor, what's MBR?"
Professor Luckyaf squinted his eyes, "A regeneration ability, an advanced psychic ability all Milky Way military personnel can use. If you read this year curriculum, in your psychic class this year, you will have to learn to basic body enhancement and manual blood circulation. They are the foundation of the advance regeneration ability. Instead of wasting resources and relying on the substitute divine blood to regen your wounds or lost body parts, you can regenerate your injuries yourself. I'll tell you about this in our class later. For now, if any of you want to switch from a combat class to lifestyle class in the game, come see me later after school."
Another student raised his hand, "Sir, I deleted my character and got the 7-day ban. Can the ban be lifted or will it affect our grades?"
"Come see me after class. I'll report your name and your accounts to the Government and have them cancel your ban before 6 PM. By the way, I suggest you make your decision quickly and come see me as soon as possible. In less than a week, they will open the game to the commoners. You have six more days to get ahead."
The students flinched when they heard that they had to mingle with commoners. They took pride as geniuses of the country by successfully entering Chula High.
There were other advance high-school in the country, but the standard and the curriculum were not on the same level as this school.
First, not all human could use psychic abilities. During the entrance exam of this school, all of the students here had been through with a thousand harsh tests. Those who did not have any psychic ability failed this entrance exam by default.
Secondly, the tuition fees for each year were expensive enough to make a multi-millionaire broke in two years. Therefore, only those who had the connection within the Government Army or billionaires could send their children here. Mia was a part of the military group so he could enjoy the benefit of the connection of his parents.
Because of the absurd requirements to enroll in this school, they saw themselves as nobles while treating the others as commoners.
The student at the rear stood up, "Sir, is there any side-effect of the game?"
"I'll be honest. There are! Aside from the sleep deprivation, we found that debuffs and irregular status in-game will carry over to the real body if you log-out in the middle of a battle. That comes to my third warning, do not log out in mid-combat!"
Everyone sucked in cold breath, including Mia. They thought if it was a good idea to continue playing the game.
Luckyaf noticed their expression, "I know that most of you want to quit the game right now. You don't have to worry about a thing. If you aren't confident with your current class, come see me after this, and I can wire the higher-ups to tamper your game character and reset your account without a ban. We're elites, after all, so don't be afraid of abusing your privileges."
Everybody smiled. This was the perk of being the cream of crops.
…
The morning classes ended.
Students in all ten classes, who picked military careers, gathered in the cafeteria as if they had arranged the meeting beforehand.
"The starting status of average people should be about 50- 70 in all categories except the intelligence and wisdom. From our data here, I think the game didn't add our modified genes into the status calculation."
"I had the boosted longevity and demonic genes transplanted, but my status is the same as people without genetic modification. This game is kind of unfair."
"Hahaha. True, it's unfair, but don't be discouraged. Remember that our intelligence and our wisdom should far surpass ordinary people by miles. The game status cap is at 1,000 but all of us has over 500 INT. This is our advantage."
"Even if some of us didn't play for a week, we still have the overall advantage over the commoners. Remember, this game is made by the Milky Way Government. They will support elites like us. Why would they let us first if they didn't rig this to our advantage?"
"But the boot camp tutorial takes too long! We've gone through seven days in-game already, but none of us has completed the tutorial!"
The group continued to gossip and share their information in the game. Everybody had chosen to join the army of various counties in the game.
However, they did not join the Air-Force, the Marine, or the Navy. They picked the Psychic Department which they could utilize their status to the fullest.
The leader of the group stood up, "Although the boot camp can be tedious, all commoners will have to go through the same procedure. Besides, only those with high INT and WIS can perform better as psychics. None of them can be as good as us."
Dawson, one of the elite from class one, stood at the center of the group, leading the conversation.
Dawson was a short teenage with white skin. His black hair, borderless glasses, and mixed-race squire face gave a unique charm of a scholar. Unfortunately, he attended an elite school in the wrong country.
His name meaning in the Thai Language was a taboo in his life as the pun of his name had ill-meaning. [Daw] or [Door] could be translated as a man's genital while [Son] could mean [Short]. Thus, Thai natives could misunderstand his name and implied that he had a short little brother.
He was bullied by his Thai friends because of his name. As a consequence of the trauma, he named his character in-game [Big Crotch].
"We have all of everybody's data, but we still don't have enough information. Let's continue going through with the training for another week in-game for now. We'll meet again tomorrow to update the changes."
…
Meanwhile, Mia returned home and entered the game capsule.
Upon entering the game, a menu popped up in front of him. It revealed the current time in the real world, which was currently 2 PM.

Mia flinched as he stared at the series of messages. Undaunted, he entered the game anyway.
