Chapter 17 – Green Eggs

Misha hesitated. This egg looked too suspicious for something to be used as a food.

"I know what you're worried about. Just eat it. Don't make me sing a Michael Jackson's song."

(Author Note2: Search Weird Al Yankovic's Eat It Song for the reference. It was a parody song of Micheal Jackson's "Beat It")

Misha held her breath and obediently put the egg in her mouth. Her teeth chewed on it, and the egg was crushed into small pieces. Gooey substance gushed out from the center of the egg, and the green slime liquid melted in her mouth.

Misha swallowed the thing as she squeezed her nose and mouth with one hand. She was on the verge of vomiting.

A warm sensation came from her mouth and her stomach, which still tasted like a rotten fish.

A weird bell sounded in her mind. It was a special game message to celebrate for a player, which Misha could hear it alone.

'Self Regeneration? Wait a minute. Is this the MBR!?'

Manual Body Regeneration, a general skill of all soldiers of Milky Way Government, was one of the skills that Misha could use in real life. Seeing this as a skill in-game made her felt complicated.

She tested it on her burnt hand. Indeed, she could use the MBR that Misha had learned in the real world as her injured hand healed in a few seconds.

The logistics staff passed Misha a bottle of water, "What you ate is a tamed virus we obtained from those giant green eggs. Those wild eggs usually attract zombies to eat it, so it could enter the body of the zombies and multiply itself by eating the zombie from the inside."

Misha's face fell.

"Don't worry about it eating you inside out. We have a method to refine this into a vaccine or a small egg that you just ate. Once you ate it, you'll obtain their nature characteristic skills. Well, I'm sure you knew about it already since you have just healed your hand."

The staff explained the basic about the usage of his two new skills before he returned into the building with the opened case. He also left with a warning.

"Don't return to the green egg site. We'll dispatch a force to retrieve the egg and eliminate the zombie horde. You should pick a new zone to explore or train."

Mia finished everything and walked out of the base. At the same time, he decided to distribute his free attributes so he could get the basic requirement for the class change.

Misha stared at her skills in doubt.

"It definitely has something to do with my MBR mastery in the real world."

She played around with her skill as she walked toward her new destination. Misha cut her hand with a knife and regenerated her wound, getting her feeling back. Misha also felt that using her skill consumed a bit of her stamina as she felt as if she had run a few kilometers.

"It feels better when I can use a bit of my psychic here, after all."

Misha stopped playing with her hand and took out a map. She picked a new danger zone to explore. Instead of heading northwest, she headed northeast to see if there could be something interesting.

As she walked, the wheezing sound of a military wagon came from her behind. It honked to get Misha's attention. An armored vehicle in a desert camouflage stopped by Misha's side.

"Hey, noob! Do you want a lift?"

It was Pioneer King, who was driving, and his goons on the back seat. Dove was also there on the shotgun seat, but he looked displeased with his team.

Misha shook her head, "No, I'll go solo."

However, in her mind, Misha was astonished, 'How did they get an APC from the base?'

Pioneer King sneered, "Hey, don't be stupid. We're loaded with weapons and an armored car. It's better to stick together in the wasteland, yeah? It's also faster and more convenient to carry a loot back. Do you know that our squad is the only one with the vehicle? We gave them so many loots that they bootlicked us to get them some more. HAHAHAHA!"

The other goons scanned Misha from head to toes. He whispered to Dove, "Leader, do you think that we can do that in the game?"

Dove glared back, "Are you retard!? Don't spout a cliché line and trying to do something stupid! The government is watching our every move. If you idiot wants to do something nasty to a girl from a noble family in-game, you and your entire family can expect Hell!"

"It's fine, Dove. None of them can do anything to us. You see, my father owns a space fleet. I want to see the government try … *BANG*."

Dove shot the lecher in the head with a pistol, killing him instantly. Everyone in the APC shut their mouth and looked at Dove in shock.

Dove tossed the corpse out of the APC and turned to Misha with an apological smile.

"Forgive my stupid EX-COMRADE. Well, we'll mind our own business then. Pioneer, drive!"

Pioneer glanced at Dove and clicked his tongue. He ignored Misha and drove away to the northwest direction where the logistic staff warned her not to head there.

In reality

Within the space, a round artificial planet "Colony Putinof#13" stayed outside of all solar system. The minus 270 Celsius of the space temperature did not harm the Green House Glass, which protected the atmosphere of the planet and provided the warm weather to its residents.

On this planet, only military personals resided. Buildings were constructed with the same design as they were either apartments, military staff offices, or open fields. Yet, a silver metallic pyramid building stood out from the rest of all buildings.

In the pyramid, workers in a white compact spacesuit, which looked like a tight leather cloth, sat around on their desk, monitoring the logs and the videos of people.

Log messages kept appearing from one of the white suit workers. The person blinked thrice as he read the number.

"Sir."

The worker stood up and looked at his superior, who was seating and gazing at the theater-size monitor. In the large screen, it showed a 10-meter-tall blue mech, which was being constructed in their military hangar.

"Yeah?"

"Someone's MBR compatibility rate is over 90%, sir. We have a government agent infiltrating in the game as a beta-tester."

"If it's the boy-trap that is playing a girl character. Ignore it. That's one of the golden generation gangs. He's a legit student."

"Yes, sir!"
