Synopsis
Taking place in the Steampunk Victorian Era, Lady Jane, a 20-year-old year old woman, lives a simple but hard life as she struggles to make friends due to her seemingly frightening aura around her. Her friend Bess is immune to it and tells Jane about the ball that is tonight and that she must arrive. Later on Bess is revealed to be a fake friend for the readers but not for Jane. Jane's mother also tells her about the ball and tells her about the Ultimate Rich man named Ulrich, who is coming to the ball as the main reason the ball is even happening. Later on at the ball, Jane's telepathic father who works as an inventor tells her about the Menzoden of Minatzbern. In layman's terms, the scariest organization in Minatzbern, even scarier than Jane's aura. her mother is also aware, knowing this, Jane walks away from the scene and tries to distract herself with food but gets far too distracted as the leader of the Mendozen appears in front of her, almost like he was summoned, and Jane tries to politely walk away, while he follows behind, still skeptical of her. The leader then reveals why he arrived at the ball and kills Ulrich with a gun in front of everyone, which sends everyone into panic, as they try to run for the exit, but like magic the doors automatically close, locking everyone in. The massacre begins, the building explodes and Jane tries to get her parents out, but she is only who survives this, standing in the flames, eyes red with tears of despair, she breaks down and vows revenge on the Mendozen, when suddenly, everything is changed. Time, to be specific. She is back at the ball and everyone is alive, the Mendozen hasn't arrived yet.

Chapter 1 - Lady Jane Is Scary

The empty, cold air, was being filled with a piercing scream, followed by the fast sounds of running.

It was a cold, stormy night, thunder would hit the highest areas, and clouds would consume the brightness of the sky. Jane was running. From someone. From someone. Unable to catch her breath, she forced herself to slowly down, then continued to dash. The demon following close behind her wasn't going to just let her run away. The demon was faster, much faster. It caught up to her, and slowed down. Why did the demon slow down, if it wanted her so badly? Jane was already out of its sight. The demon let out a deep chuckle. To it, it was all a game. A game of tag. It was it, and she was supposed to run. It was the predator, she was the prey. It knew exactly what it was doing. Once Jane saw that the demon stopped running, she would stop, relax, and be in her most vulnerable state. Then, it would be easy to take over her body.

As for Jane, she looked behind her, and took a deep breath. It seemed that the demon was out of sight. She sighed, and breathed a sigh of relief. She still paced, but at a much slower rate. The adrenaline slowly started to leave her body, and a wave of exhaustion suddenly rushed over her body. She fell to her knees and caught herself with her hands, grasping the dirt on the ground. She sighed again. And looked up. Just because the demon was gone, doesn't mean she was going to stop there. So she continued to stroll as soon as she managed to get the weight of exhaustion off her shoulders.

Suddenly, she felt a cold presence. She turned around. But saw nothing. The howling wind filled in the empty silence. She already knew that the demon was still present. She started to run, but it became too late as the demon rushed up to her in a furious pace, and she collapsed onto the ground, as the demon entered her unconscious body.

"Jane!" An unfamiliar voice called out into the dense air, only to get an echo of their yelling. The person was holding a lantern, with a flame burning inside the little ball. They yelled again. "Jane!"

They then realised that it was no point in calling, and started to search and search, and after a while of searching, they have finally found her. She was sitting on her knees, her back to them, dark long hair, tickling their back. They quickly ran over to her, dropping the lantern. "Jane..." They placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. The moment that they put a hand on her shoulder, they instantly knew that this wasn't Jane.
