Chapter 1 - Farewell my high school life.

Its weird how time flies so fast. It's the saddest as well as the best thing about life, isn't it? Times we once thought were unbearable seems trivial, people we once wished could always remain the same turn out to be mean and the ones we thought we can never understand happens to become our best companions.

It's so unpredictable but I think that's what makes life worth a try.

Its 7 am in the morning, still early for people to rush to their schools or work place but Mayra Sen has already left for school.

Usually she runs late for school but from last few days(since she has known she's going to attend Halmer University in the main capital city far away from her hometown), she has been taking long walks to the school as if trying to capture every detail of her life in her memories.

These tree-lined avenues, this small bridge in the way to school, this large school building, these busy corridors, this pale white classroom, and her friends who are so engaged in talking that haven't even noticed when she entered the room. She feels like she's going to miss them all badly.

Afterall next week is the convocation day of Sebastian high school.

Oh I forgot to introduce her.

She's Mayra Sen,

age -18,

Hobbies- she loves to do almost everything but mostly she spends time with her old age house buddies or reading different books.

Position- Classpresident and the founder of the events club.

There was no such club in the school before. The event planning was done by some professors and their favoured students.

So initially Mayra got to be a part of one such organising group 'cause of her good grades but soon she realised the need of having an individual club of event planning. Rest is the history, now every school event is planned and organised by this club.

"There, there. Mayra is here." Faizal squecked turning everyone's unwanted attention towards her.

"May! Come here quick, we've got so much to decide." Pree beamed pointing towards the empty chair beside her.

"Lets decide on some changes to be made in juniors' proposal for the event." Hina chirped.

"Guys we've talked over it a week ago, haven't we? Junior club members can do it. Let them handle it their way." May stated putting her hands on the table.

"But if anything went wrong dean won't let it slide that easily. We must correct them" Hina suggested signalling Faizal to speak something too.

May looked at them one by one, "I know but for that we first need to give them enough space to make mistakes. If they'll need any help, they can always come to us. Lets just trust them for now."

The moment May finished her last words Pree chuckled, "Now my dear friends, I think the topic is closed. Please hand me the winning bid."

"Yeah right" Hina sighed and put the money in Pree's hands.

"May you think too much you know" she complained while trying to adjust her desk.

May sighed, "Why you guys even bet on me?"

"Now don't give me that look you've made me lose my money already", Hina waved her hand without meeting her eyes.

"That's why I was neutral." Faizal winked, "May acts like a different person everyday."

May rolled her eyes and said, "Just go back to your seat."

"Don't you want to know who said this to me?" Faizal chuckled while standing up.

"NO!" May raised her brows to warn him, he raised his hands, "Alright, miss Scary" and left saying, "Damn! This too has been told to me by the same person."

*Convocation day*

They had it clear that they won't be interrupting with juniors' work, so they supressed every temptation to check the arrangements but soon juniors asked for their help themselves. Someone meddled with the speeches prepared by valedictorians. May asked the host to buy them some time to pen it down again.

"May what should I do, even Aaron has stammered" Candice bit her lips and said.

"Relax ok. You've written your speech yourself and you know what you want to say out there very well. We've even notted down the key words, so go there and just be yourself. It's a happy day, nobody is gonna judge you. And even if they do, who cares? You are a valedictorian." May braced Candice and turned to Hina who was trying to talk to her from some time now.

Hina grabbed her hand and took her to some quite place.

"What about you? Have you seen your speech? Is it altered too?" She bombarded her with the questions.

May winced pouting her lips,"I forgot my speech at home actually."

After hearing it Hina's gaze softened as she let out a little laughter, "Thats so you. So what now? You are not nervous?"

"Lets just believe I'm not."

Hina sighed and pointed a sheet towards her, "Here take this and write it down. Don't you dare come there before preparing your speech. Leave the rest to us we'll handle it, you better help yourself now."

May smiled warmly as she left, at times like this May feels truly blessed to have such people around her.

"Okay guys throw your caps on the count of three. One, Two, Three."

"Woohh!!"

Today the atmosphere is all cheery and sentimental. They had never liked to sing their school anthem before, but today they sang it four-five times already.

May was taking random pictures of everyone around, Pree and Hina were engaged in their gossips, Faizal was busy hitting one last time on his longtime crush when an announcement was made, "Mayra Sen you are requested to report at the dean's office right now."

May handed her camera to Hina and rushed to dean's office.

Whenever dean had called her, it would either be to give her the guidelines(warning) before an event or to criticise her after the event. Not like they make many mistakes but the only problem which prevents their perfectly planned event from becoming perfectly executed one is 'Eric Wron'.

She was sure this time too he must has been into another fight during ceremony or maybe worse, afterall he is capable of doing any unreasonable thing with ease.

"Can I come in" May opened the door slightly and peeked in.

"Yes please, miss Mayra" Dean gestured her in and walked towards the guy with an athletic build talling over him, "Would you like to guess why this boy is standing here today?" he asked.

If only May could reply,'How would I?' She doesn't know why dean has to call her everytime before beginning his lecture on Eric Wron's savage behaviour. Shouldn't this matter be resolved by disciplinary committee by now.

Why she has to be bothered every single time when she's not even his friend just a classpresident. But then again Wron hardly talks to anyone in regular classes and never miss out any chance to attend(spoil to be precise) school events.

May glared at Eric as soon as they left the office "Lets talk somewhere" she said authoratatively and walked ahead making him follow her.

When they reached the balcony she folded her hands and asked, "Why again?" as if she knew the answer and was ready to lecture him for another half an hour.

"What? I didn't engage myself in any fight this time" Eric said playing dumb.

She frowned,"Yeah you tampered with all the valedictorian speeches thats it. Its not a big deal afterall, is it?"

Leaning on the balustrade he looked away and said "Not all. I haven't touched your speech."

She took a step forward and stated "cause I haven't brought one with me."

He smirked, "It wasn't that fun anyway they didn't even stammered for long."

She shook her head saying, "I don't get this what pleasure you get from doing all such stupid things."

He straightened himself to walk away and replied,"Look the only reason I'm talking to you is because you had to share dean's scolding with me. Don't even assume I'm obliged to explain anything to you."

In last two years since Eric has transfered to this school, these two have only talked for few minutes after every dean's call and that too ends with this same statement by Eric.

But today is different.

"You know its very childish to ask for everyone's attention this way. Don't you think you should grow-up now, stop acting like a rebellious teen." May shouted after him.

"I don't need to hear this from someone dumb enough to be cheated on by the same guy a hundered times" he turned around and jeered.

Today they blurted out whatever they had in their minds.

Six months ago Mayra was dating Aaron. It was love at first sight for them but Aaron turned out to be a total player who kept on making fake promises and May kept on believing his words until she caught him herself in a cafe. Unfortunately Eric Wron was a part-time waiter at that cafe and witnessed the whole event himself.

That day when May walked into the cafe she found Aaron kissing another girl, Eric knew about their relationship and was shocked by seeing May's nonchalant reaction.

When Aaron saw her standing there, he leaped out of his chair.

"Oh no don't mind me, please continue. I can't waste one more second on your pathetic self" she coolly said and walked out of the cafe without showing any hint of hurt.

But the moment she came out of the cafe she went weak at the knees, it was the first time she faced betrayal. It bacame so hard for her to even breath that she rushed to the dark street beside the cafe, and cried her heart out for hours until she heard some footsteps approaching her, when she looked up she saw Eric Wron with two big garbage bags in his hands. He thrown those bags in the bin and left without saying anything to her.

'Ah I'm embarrassed to death' she thought wiping her tears off, 'He is jinxed'.

Actually whenever May has faced any embarrassing moment in past two years, Eric has always been around.

Like one time when she fall flat on her face from a mall's backstairs. She was relieved that noone would have seen her possibly, but who would have thought Eric Wron was in the same mall and that he never uses elevator and was standing behind her at that moment.

Or the time when a street dog chased May at 5 am on a Sunday morning and she ran shouting like crazy in the whole park only to bump into Eric Wron.

Or the time when she decided to get over her break-up by reading books titled, "99 ways to forget your ex", " Its not love its lust" only to find out that it was Eric's grandfather's shop and that that day Eric was on cash counter.

She knew of all people, he would be the last one to think highly of her but still his words were very hurting.

Tonight she is unable to fall asleep again, tossing and turning in the bed she was thinking about the morning events, how everything was going well before Eric Wron's heartless words ruined her day.

For her he's weird from the first day she saw him. She had heard the rumours that a pitiable guy who is abandoned by his parents and what not is transfered to the school but she didn't paid any attention.

What caught her attention was the introduction given by Eric Wron on his first day in the class, "Hi! I'm Eric Wron. I'm sure you know alot about me already, yes my mother left my father and my father committed suicide. I'm broke and living with my grandfather right now" he said impassively.

'Such an attention seeker' she thought.

After that she saw him in the first event organised by her club. He has punched one senior on being provoked at his family's expense.

Dean was being considerate when he asked him to never fight like this in the school but she was criticised badly for not checking the arrangements properly and let such quarrel happen in the first place.

"You! Don't you know how to defend yourself" were her first words to him when they left the office.

"What do you mean?" he asked with puzzled face.

"Were you that helpless to lend him a punch? The way you were acting on the first day I thought you would be smart enough to ignore such fools." she folded her hands and replied.

He took his bag and left saying,"I don't think I'm obliged to explain anything to you."

Then it became a pattern,

"He punched me first, I just defended myself."

"That wasn't bullying. I was showing them the right way to do it."

"It wasn't violence but a fight against wrong."

He had his excuses, she had her naggings but they never hurt each other like today before. After the night she broke up it was the first time she felt this low.

'Nevermind. Its not like he was wrong. '

'Forget it. That guy just brings bad luck to me.'

'I'm going away anyway I don't have to face Eric Wron anymore.'

'Its ok it happens with everyone. I'll start new.'

'Everything is fine. I'm good. I must forget it.

Its ok. Its ok. Its ok.'

She told herself again and again. It was then she realised that it is her hurt pride not love that wasn't letting her forgive herself.
