It's been 5 months since the most magical time in our relationship. In the mean time, winter passed and it was spring now. Baby Emerald made her appearance the first week of March and has kept Claudia hands-on. Flora reeled in her wildness as she was preparing to have her own baby. Frank finally convinced her. The older generations were still as gossipy as ever, trying their best to matchmake Emarald with the best available choice.
Quincy became a busy bee because of a big collaboration his company scored. I, on the other hand, am preparing for graduation. My university retained me to be a lab instructor for undergraduates. I also get to work full time on my research. My paper was also published in a scientific review.
With nothing to do, Seraphina accompanied Quincy to his work place. Everyone was already familiar with the boss's girlfriend. She interacted with the employees, and they all came to like and respect her. When the couple stepped into the company, the younger guys were beaming at her. The employees greeted Seraphina with smiles. One would think she was the boss while Quincy was just an assistant. When he saw how googly eyed the male employees were, he drew his little darling into his embrace and stared down at those men. On getting into his office, he put up an aggrieved look.
"Wear a mask next time you visit. If eyes were magnets, those guys would have pulled you away," he said with a sad face.
"How could they when your eyes are the strongest," she said, giggling between words.
"What will you be doing all day?" He asked.
"Just staring at you." Someone was definitely love struck.
"I don't have much to do this morning, so I'll accompany you in a bit."
"Okay. I'll just sit here looking pretty."
While Quincy was engrossed with work, Seraphina received an unexpected message.
"Hey. This is Beatrice. Are you free at the moment?"
"Yes, I am."
"Do you mind coming out for a bit? I'm currently at SweetHut on YY boulevard."
"Okay. I'll be there soon."
I hadn't seen Beatrice since the coffee shop incident. I was really curious about how she was faring now.
"Honey, do you want anything from SweetHut?"
"Cravings?"
"Yeah." I might as well indulge myself.
"Hmmn, twisted doughnut and coffee milk tea."
"Okay. I'll be back soon." I didn't want to tell him I was meeting with Beatrice lest he worries.
She blew kisses at him before heading out to meet her rival.
SweetHut bakery...
"You've come," Beatrice said as she flashed a smile at me. She looked different. For one, she wasn't snobby, and she looked so peaceful.
"Yes. How have you been? You look pretty." My compliment was sincere. The air around her was more comfortable than before.
"Well, I took you advice and pampered myself. I thought things over, and took a long trip. You were the first one I wanted to see when I returned."
"I'm glad you're doing better." Weed had been successfully exterminated.
"I apologize again for the trouble, and thank you for awakening me," she said as she gave me a smile.
"No problem," I said, smiling back at her.
We talked for a while longer about her trip, places she visited, and her process of letting go.
"So do you think we can be friends? Genuinely. I'm over Quincy so you don't have to worry," she said as she chuckled.
She better not be after my man again! I believed her though.
"Sure, we can. Would you like to attend my graduation party? It's this Saturday."
"I'll be there."
I got Quincy's order, and we said our goodbyes.
Back to the office, I told him where I had been and what Beatrice and I discussed.
"As long as you're happy," he replied. He was dripping with sexiness, and those silver eyes had my heart beating out of the normal.
"We haven't done in it in the office yet," I leaned closer, whispered in his ear and played with his earlobe like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"You need to stay away from the whole family," he replied in his husky baritone voice.
"Yessir," I said before pouncing on him and drowning all of his queries with kisses.
Graduation party was like our usually biweekly gathering except a new friend was there. Beatrice made it, and I was glad she could. Everyone was so accepting of her which made it easier for our friendship to move on. The day was filled with laughter, music, food, and love. Looking at my whole family, I felt blessed. I could finally relax from school work and just enjoy before I begin my new job in the Fall.
