Chapter 1 - Jakodi`s Death

Jakodi is your average guy, atleast in looks, he`d easily be lost in a crowd. He was a orphan, raised at the nearby orphanage...

And i`m already bored of trying to give him a good story, and I obviously don`t need to go into detail of his life given if this chapter`s title didn`t make it glaringly obvious. He`s going to die somehow. For this novel, as its the first one ill put to the public, ill say this: This novel, isn`t going to be great, but ill try to make you enjoy it. And I don`t know how to do that if I write it like novels on webnovel that are within the top 5,000 for power stones, ill just write how I want to, and have fun adding in notes like this at times.

Anyways, back to the story. Jakodi is rather average looking guy, easy to lose in a crowd, orphan that of course grew up in a orphanage after his parents died in a crash on the way home from the hospital when he was less than a few hours old, nothing really special about him other than his name really. Living in a small apartment, with a job of being a newspaper deliverer. Decided to try getting a bit more cash for a new couch and a lamp, eventually gets to be hired for testing subject of a AI intelligence and analytical chip (aka the main character cheat of many a novel) or something like that, he never deeply into it after they guaranteed it has gotten past testing of anything that should be beyond headaches or throwing up.

Its sponsored by Tech Corp, your generic, popular, and trusted tech corporation of many novels and of course being the generic, popular, and trusted tech corporation, its advertised EVERYWHERE, with the project he is a test subject called project "Revolution" and the AI being given the same name. Eventually Jakodi gets to the building for the testing, goes through the procedures and is led to a large foyer with couches and chairs scattered about with a few tables with books and magazines scattered atop. There is 13 others in the foyer, either on their phones, reading, flipping through magazines, chatting, or just staring around at the environment. He sits down at a red couch that`s against a wall. He spends a few minutes just looking around, checking the environment around him, a old habit. A table up against the right of the couch, with 2 light novels atop it and 3 magazines about whatever. Up against the other side of the table is a dark blue couch that is unoccupied. Jakodi takes a look at one of the books, checking the summary on the back getting a general idea about the story. "No friend is quite like Jeremiah" it is titled, going off the summary its about two kids named Carlos and Jeremiah going to a summer camp, nothing really special. He starts reading it and slowly loses track of time...

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention?"

Jakodi looks up to see a man in a white lab coat facing everyone, smiling while holding a clipboard.

"My name is Eric, and ill get you into the specifics of what you've signed up for as they've been some changes. We have had a testable but unstable breakthrough in the technology you'll be dealing with and it may have some... worse side effects. Of course you can leave now, and if you stay you`ll be given increased pay for the increased risk..."

Jakodi shakes his head, not paying much attention to what he says as long as he gets paid well enough. By the end of Eric`s speech, 3 people decided to leave, and those of us that remain follow Eric down a few halls to a few seats they prepared outside the room that they will test us in. I`m up first, I enter to a white room with a few monitors around displaying who knows what data. There I enter to a hospital bed, suspended above where my head would rest is a very large helmet with numerous cables and cords hooked up. Around the bed are a few monitors, some with recognizable displays like a monitor to display a patients post, yet most are unrecognizable, which is fair. Around the room are 3 scientists, nurses, doctors? Im not quite sure... One is a old man well past his prime, and given his appearance, likely the leader. Followed by another man and a women, both seem roughly around the middle of their lifes. They motion me to lay down on the bed, and tell me to relax. Suddenly, the older man stabs me with a needle in my left arm while unknowingly, the other two are at my sides holding down my arms. I try to struggle a little, and flinch from the pain of the needle, quickly falling unconscious.

"Ok, we are done with the surgery part of this run."

I wake up to hear this spoken, still a bit in a daze. Taking some time to recollect my thoughts and calming down a little, with the staff waiting at the side.

"What the f*ck was that!"

I immediately shout, I mean, they could have atleast given me a warning before they sent me under.

"Sorry, but it just would save time to get it over with that way"

The women says, in a practiced manner immediately after my yell. Atleast I wasnt the only one to be treated this way I muse to myself.

"Ok, now we need to test how Revolution responds to your brain. We will just collect and look over the data in the room to the right of this room. First though, you need to power on Revolution, just focus your thoughts on saying 'Revolution On'. We have gone through great effort to make it thought based though you may need to mentally say it a few different ways to ensure-"

I went ahead and mentally thought "Revolution On" and I immediately heard it ping

[Revolution is Starting Up. Please wait for Revolution to fully boot up and establish a connection to the servers...]

This is so cool! I think as I hear it echo in my mind. Suddenly though, I feel a painful and intense electrical shock through my body. My vision blurs as I my consciousness begins to fade, I see as I collapse, the staff have faces full of confusion, horror, or shock on their faces. As my conscious fades I only get to utter a single line...

"F*ck! Not Again!"

and then there was a ping:
