Sawa walked home alone, Haru was spending the night at a friend's today, or so she was supposed to be. She opened the door to the third room of her apartment and walked in. She lightly touched the face of an eight-year-old boy with her features.
The boy woke up and saw the stranger. And jumped back in fear.
Sawa could hardly breathe as she watched her emaciated younger brother break away in fear of her. It broke her heart.
"Kai," she said softly before taking out her necklace "Do you have a necklace like this but with the name Rina on it."
The boy paused but didn't say anything as he pulled out his necklace that looked just like hers. He frowned as this necklace has always been this prized possession. He doesn't know where he got it, but, he knows its precious.
"Kai can you please bring it here."
Kai looked at the women who didn't seem to want to harm; he contemplated for a bit before walking over but only slowly. He held out his necklace at the same time so did, she. He frowned again thinking it was strange. He panicked when she took his necklace put then
Sawa had placed the necklaces together. Click.
"You see when these two pieces come together, they make a key. I had it custom made for your third birthday."
She gently took his hand and placed the key necklace into his hand. Kai became puzzled as he listened and tried to take in her words. He looked deeply at the key the engraves on his name and this Rina's person. He was finding it hard to believe that his necklace was meant to be a key.
Sawa opened a draw to the and pulled out a box with a very suspicious Keyhole on it. She passed it two the young boy.
Kai looked at the box and the necklace in his hands and put the key in it. Click
And it opened as a nostalgic lullaby played, and the lady started to sing.
A song he hadn't heard for a long time.
My Dear child, have you been crying today? Did your friends leave you alone?
And the loneliness just won't go away?
My Beautiful Child, have you been crying today? Did your pretty clothes get dirty?
Yet there was no one to turn to, no one to tell?
My Clever child, have you been crying today? Did you lose your most precious gift?
Did you look for it, facing the wind, from dusk til dawn?
My Dear Child, why couldn't I see where you were? Did the wind blow out your candle
Leaving you in the darkness wandering alone?
My Dear Child, Lets hurry and wipe away your tears.
I'll be with you, Let's go back home.
Kai watched as the lady began to shed tears and wipe them away very quickly but softly, but they continued to flow down her face, making him start crying as well.
"You liked that song so much that made sure it played every time we opened the box. You must be tired. I'll leave you be..." Sawa got up to leave the room when she felt her shirt being tugged.
"Can you sing that again?"
Henmi walked into the sleek hotel where her reunion was being held. Her husband stayed behind with the kids. She scanned the room until she found him.
Kai Kentaro
In High-school he was a high-class detective and sleuth with amazing skills. He was talking to some ladies, so she waited until he was done when she walked up to him
"Mr.Kai," she said
"Yes."
"Henmi Yataro" she reached her hand out "it has been a long time."
"Same to you, so what can I do for you."
"I need to borrow your mind."
"Let's go over here," he said. Leading her to a table as they sat down. "So,
what the problem."
"I work at May's cosmetics, I don't know if you have seen it already, but we hired the golden lady."
"I have seen it, so what's the problem?"
"I don't think the idea it hers."
Henmi opened an envelope that had a couple of documents in it.
"Here ones she did recently. And then here is her marketing idea that she recently sent in."
"Your right about one, she didn't write," Kai said.
"Can you clarify somewhat."
"I can, you see her marketing idea, is at least some years old."
"Huh?"
"The women didn't bother changing anything and just put her name on i-"something caught Kai eye while Henmi was lost in thought for a split second.
"Who wrote this one," he asked snapping Henmi out of a daze as she looked at what he was holding another document.
"My boss wrote that"
"When deciding on the winner how did your team go about it."
"By vote."
"Did you boss vote for this one as well. "Yes, she did. Why?" Henmi frowned.
"Because your boss wrote the marketing idea."
"Huh!"
"Did your boss even bother twice before deciding to go with it."
"No, as soon as she saw it, she agreed."
"That means she knew."
"I don't follow."
"She knew that the idea turned in was something she wrote a long time ago. So, now the real question is why did she accept it?"
Chiho got home dejectedly she couldn't find him, at all. Too many thoughts were running through her head.
"What happened?"
"Honey" Chiho abruptly looked up to the gaze of her husband.
"CEO Oshima came to the demo this morning, whatever your reason is for not being there. You may have lost her trust."
Chiho looked as her husband walked away from her and felt even more depressed as she wondered how she can climb back up, taking the director's position won't be easy right now.
Sawa embraced the little boy who had long fallen asleep in her arms. She softly rubbed his head and wiped his tears while listening to his soft breaths.
Titan, their tuxedo cat, joined them not too long ago. And rubbed his face on hers before sniffing the little boys and purring as he laid comfortably between them.
Her gaze was lost out toward the stars; however, there was a deadly glint in her eyes.
