Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Hero’s Chronicle, Breton’s Point of View (Part Two)

"Sister are you going to the party."

"Yes, it was an invitation from a royal family member," Glass said in the carriage, they were riding with their father and step-mother who were being lovey-dovey. As the carriage stopped meaning that they arrived

at the royal castle.

Breton linked his arm with his beautiful sister and got shivers down his spine the daggers at his back sting. His sister's maid had dolled her up wonderfully and added to the unique dress she is wearing she was standing out completely. It didn't take long for capture nearly all of the nobles n this room. She was even affecting all the women.

'as expected of my sister, her beauty is unmatched. Both men and women alike are captured' Breton signed inside.' Breton thought as he caught sight of Prince Jared and Yuri their hands were linked as they chatted happily. Silvester was here chatting away with another group of people. And Anders stood behind his parents starting at his sister, his face slightly red.

"Duke Hall's daughter of the Hall family, Glass Hall, I have been looking forward to finally meeting you. Thus, I had to invite you to this event." The Queen Dowager said.

Breton furrowed his eyebrows.

"You have achieved spectacular success in both the East Trade Company and managing the Rica as the Feudal Lord Representative. I hope you enjoy yourself today."

"It is my great honor, to be praised by you, your highness" Glass said as she pinched Breton secretly to tell him to stop making that expression.

Maxfield walked up with Samantha to greet the Queen Dowager. They started to enjoy a pleasant conversation forgetting somewhat of Breton and Glass existence.

'How does she know' Breton thought.

"She has been keeping tabs on me since I was Six" Glass used telepathy, making Breton's head turn toward her. His sister could also use magic like this.

Magic was a strange thing in this country, it was useful for war, but the only drawback to it was that not only did you have to be born with it, but it is also tough to learn because Ithacan has been a peaceful country for so long. Its use and value here have gone down to the point that even very few nobles and the king himself look upon it fondly as if it were a gem.

Breton was thinking about when his sister taught some magic spell, and they were so easy to learn. But when he grew up and tried to learn again, it was too hard. Plus, he didn't feel like asking his Sister at the time. He'll think about asking her back when she grows up.

Speaking of Magic, His sister will be fifteen soon. Does she still plan to enter the magic academy?

He was lost in thought until he heard the murmurs behind him about his sister being the head of the company and managing Rica.

"It has been a while, your ladyship" Breton heard Yuri's voice and turned his head. Jared was looking at his sister scornfully and Silvester's eyes look on with curiosity. He made sure to glance at his father, whose expression became pale. His father heard Yuri address Glass as Ladyship, so of course he was drawing his conclusion. Samantha just kept ignoring the Yuri and continued to talk to the Queen Dowager.

"Good Evening, Miss Yuri" Glass said

Yuri face flushed and seemed to be glowing.

"…I'm surprised. To think that it's Miss Glass."

'You Liar' Breton thought

"…By the way, why is Lady Glass making an appearance here today~?"

"There's no need for you to ask her why she's asking you that question. Because you do not have any position to make an appearance at this place." Jared said with scorn.

"No position…" Breton whispered

"It's because Yuri is gentle. She's giving you a piece of advice to remind you of your position."

"Queen Dowager had invited her," Breton said to Jared.

"Wha…! Grandmother did…?"

Jared looked surprised, and his eyes widened.

'Were you not paying any attention when we went to greet the Queen Dowager a little while ago? plus she is right behind us' Breton thought.

"No, that's impossible… To someone as inhumane as you, there's no way grandmother will send you an invitation. If you want to tell a lie, make it a little more believable." Jared said angry

"It looks good on you, your dress," Yuri said making Jared anger disappear. "Are you advertising for company."

"Yes, but, we have yet to gather a lot of materials, it is currently not up for sale. But we'll have enough materials soon enough, and a product line will be launched soon after."

"ah! Wonderful I'll look forward to it" Yuri said before giving Glass a meaningful look.

"It's quite lively over here" Samantha walked over all smiles at Breton and Glass.

"Ah, Duchess Samantha It's been a long time~."

Splendidly ignoring Yuri's greeting, she walked towards Glass. The Queen Dowager and their father weren't in sight anymore

"Are you alright?"

"Duchess Samantha!"

"Oh, Your Highness. Why are you speaking in such a loud voice in the middle of a party?"

"Under this circumstance… Why did you disregard Yuri! This is a blasphemy against the royal family."

"Well, Your Highness. Surely you jest. …I'm certain you haven't forgotten the manners of the court, have you?" Samantha said as she unfolded her fan and covered her mouth with it. "For a person who has a lower social position to carefreely address a person of higher social standing, the people in the surrounding will question the fineness of that person. If Yuri is to become your princess… No, because of this reason, she should be well informed of such manners."

"However, Yuri is the person who is engaged to me."

"Yes, that she is. Although she's someone you are engaged to, it doesn't mean you have been formally married… In other words, she is not part of your House. Until then, her position will stay the same. …Before you get married, no one knows what will happen until then."

"I don't think social status is related. When someone greets you, you should return the greeting. Isn't this the most natural thing to do~?" Yuri said

"…"

Everyone in the surroundings was dumbfounded. But Jared and

Silvester was not stunned at all.

A natural thing… to do. To say such things in a world of aristocrats where manners and formalities are essential is a severe offense. With the King on the top, the rest of the aristocrats are under him in the shape of a pyramid.

"Yuri. As someone who might become a member of the royal family, you need to learn how to conduct yourself." Lady Angela said

Maxfield came back beckoned his children forward with a nod.

"Mother," Jared said

"Come to the Queen Dowager," their father said as he led them away.

"Mother…!" Jared's voice can still be heard

"What is it? You're too loud. …In this party, there are also people from other countries in attendance, so what's with your awful state. You people, retire and cool your heads. Because with your appearance, the fineness of our Kingdom will be questioned." Lady Angela said. The passing attendees looked at the expression on the faces of Jared. Who was staring in blank new surprise? Queen Angela looked at her son and his new fiancée in disappointment and casted her gaze to Glass.

It was late when they had finally gotten home, Breton has returned with his sister who has been mute since their journey. Maxfield and Samantha stayed behind.

"Hey, Sister"

"Yes," Glass sat down in the main room.

"Are you going to Ferlin?" Breton had joined her on the sofa parallel to it. She nodded her head.

"Will your company be alright."

"Little brother what a silly thing to say, I would not leave otherwise."

"Sister, once more thing."

"What is it?" Glass said as her maid handed her a cup of tea and took a sip.

"Can you teach me magic before you go?"
