He strolled through the narrow lanes that he had walked a year ago when he was in O-level. Bronson recalled all the stress he had gone through as he was preparing for his final exams, the Mwavura Certificate Of Education (MCE) that would see him propelled to the next level of education if he passed highly.
The memories kept flashing in his mind. The one year he had lived and roamed in Lumos Academy.
Barnes had a burning desire in his heart to pursue physics, mathematics and economics at A-level then be able to pursue the dream of his life...
An architectural engineer.
He walked towards the administration block and wanted to head to the office of the Dean of academics immediately. However he spotted his former Kiswahilli teacher and saw it fit to offer his respects before he proceeded to the office of the Dean of academics.
Mr Delaey was one of his former teachers, a jolly and jovial man that was very fond of Bronson and therefore decided to groom him privately and offered him pointers to reach the apex of academics in the whole district. He decided to take up Barnes as his private student because of his innate talent and proficiency in Kiswahilli, the subject he taught in all the six classes in Lumos Academy.
" Mr. Delaey it's such along time. how have you been faring on?".
" Uh isn't this a pleasant moment? how do you find the world outside?"
Mr Dealaey retorted with a look of surprise upon his face. He scanned the teenager before his eyes and couldn't believe that it was his own former student.
This piqued his interest and he replied Barnes' greetings with inquisitiveness while inquiring about his progress out of school. Bronson held his breath momentarily and sighed.
" It hasn't been a very rosy holiday, like I expected, however it was way above the average."
Mr Delaey stared at Barnes with the " I don't understand you but am fine with it" face.
" Anyway let's forget that." Mr Delaey added "I hope to catch up with you later to further discuss your future prospects."
Mr Delaey clearly understood why Barnes had come to pay the school a visit.
The results of the MCE were released two months ago and the students that sat for the examinations had to pick their original academic documents from their former schools. He was wondering which school Bronson would decide to proceed to for his A-levels.
He honestly wished Barnes a bright future because his talent was boundless and that meant attaining an Mwavura Advanced Certificate of Education (MACE) from a Top Grade school in the bustling Central region. This would increase his chances of obtaining a scholarship to study overseas or even In the best universities on the Continent.
Barnes hurriedly entered the administration block, A six-storeyed building with all the departmental offices of the academy. A cool breeze on entering the hallway gently blew his face. He discerned it was from the ac's in the hallway. There was a drastic temperature drop in contrast with the temperature outside the administration block.
The dean of academics' office was on the ground floor on the left hand side of the hallway. Barnes walked past the reception and continued towards the door with a plastic panel above it labeled " Dean Of Academics" in white against a deep blue background.
Barnes lightly tapped on the door thrice however due to the silence in the hallway, his knocking was very audible.
"Come in"
A loud voice resonated from inside the office, prompting Barnes to steady and groom himself. He held the lever on the door and turned it down gently then pushed the door in.
