"So, you're saying that you're being played?"
It's been two days since Bea arrived. She took a vacation for fifteen days when she found out about Sheen.
They are having breakfast after having their early morning walk around the park.
"Yes. How many times do I have to say it?"
Sheen just ordered pancake and coffee, while Bea is having a heavy breakfast.
"It's just that.. You know, you're falling for your fiance and you found out he's not your real fiance and here's Blue and Kady who were the ones who messed up your life and also, you're going to be a bridesmaid in your past enemy in love... You're so messed up, I mean, you have always been a mess..."
Sheen suddenly stopped eating, "Excuse me? I'm always a mess? How?"
She got pissed with Bea's words. If there's one thing that she hates, it's being called a mess. Deep inside she knows she is, but she never admitted it. She can't accept that her life was made to be a mess.
"Yeah, you are. Since you were young, your life's been manipulated by your relatives and then, you had conflicts with them after Kady's plan-gone-wrong-move-to-save-you and now, here you are."
Bea looks at her while eating. Sheen's brow was raised, she's thinking if she's really a mess and she is.
"You know, you never had real friends since your relatives came into your life. You only had one before, right?"
Bea is the closest family member from her mother's side. She's been a friend for her but they only had a short time to live together. When they were in high school, they attended different schools due to Sheen's relative's choice of school. But the distance didn't make their closeness fade.
"Yeah. You two were so close!"
During her pre-school, they both had a friend. It's just that they can't remember the name or who that is since they were too young.
"I know right? Anyways, what's your plan?"
Sheen wasn't able to sleep after knowing what was happening around her which is why Bea decided to be by her side.
"Uhm, I will focus with the book and when it is published, I will wait for the result after a year so I have to endure seeing them and after that, I will move out of here. I will go to your place and work at a university. I'll teach literature and find the man that god made just for me."
Bea knew that Sheen just keep her mask on. Inside, she's sad and alone. She might look calm but her mind's a wreck.
"Okay, I will help you with that... Honestly, you can change publication, right? Not because you were nominated while you're in that publication doesn't mean that you have to publish there. You know, you can publish using our company. We publish different types of literature, it's just that I work with reports. I also know a university which needs a literature instructor."
Bea's been growing hatred towards Sheen's publishing company. They were manipulating other company's and threaten them if they will not agree to form a business partnership.
"Really? Oh, then I will send my application to your company tomorrow as well as to that university! I can't wait to move away from here!"
Sheen already made up her mind, she wants a new life.
A life where she will not be played or used.
A place where she can live without thinking about other things than herself.
"You really want to get away from here that bad? You already prepared those?"
The sun's rising and they have already finished their food.
Bea planned things that they will do for the whole day to relax.
"Yeah, so where are we going next?"
They took their leave and took a slow walk while feeling the cold morning breeze brush their skin. They are both wearing a sports bra and leggings.
"Oh. We need to get changed. Do you want to ride the Ferris wheel later wearing this?"
They both chuckled when they looked at themselves on the glass while passing by a shop.
"You see, I have this guy. He's really sweet and all, I think I like him. What do you think? Should I make the move or wait for him?"
The streets not yet busy, there are few cars passing by. There are also few people walking.
The city felt like it was reborn with such calm ambiance.
Sheen never had the time to walk around this early.
She's either sleep-deprived from writing or that she's too lazy to wake up early.
"I think you can make the move. This era's not about girls having to wait for something that might never exist if they don't make an effort. I mean, if a guy can make you like him even though you don't at first, you, as well can."
They were about to cross the street when Sheen saw Wyn who's also about to cross towards them.
She quickly hides behind Bea who noticed that the guy across them is her fiance.
Wyn saw her before she can even notice him. His heart raced more after jogging and his nervousness made him feel goosebumps.
"So, what are we gonna do? He's going here..."
Bea watches as Wyn walks towards them. She noticed that he really suits the character in Sheen's book.
He's very sweet looking and mature. He's like an angel.
"How can such angel hurt you?" She whispers.
"What angel?"
Sheen suddenly steps away from Bea without realizing that Wyn's already near her, she shouted, "Angel? Someone who's deceiving another person is not an angel! I thought he's the one and yeah, hell I am right, he's the one who will freaking break my heart!"
Wyn stops walking. He was about to say hi to Sheen with his hand raised.
Bea awkwardly looked at him, "Dude, you need to say sorry."
Sheen turned around and got embarrassed at first with what she said but later got angry.
"Oh, glad you're here. Did you hear what I said? That's for you!"
Wyn took a step to finally cross the street.
He put his hands on his pocket to hide that it's shaking with nervousness.
"Can we talk? I mean, I 'm sorry. I really am. I won't deny that I did deceive you, but whatever I showed to you was true. I like you, Sheen. I really do."
He looked at her eyes. It was in pain and sad. She's frowning but her hands are clenched.
"I don't care. You know, I was happy to learn that you're my fiance. You're really a nice person, you... you're my kind of guy, you know? I felt at ease whenever I was with you but you... I was hurt. I am sorry. We're done. I hope not to see you again. I mean, I don't like to see any of you guys again."
Sheen took Bea's hand and ran across the street.
Bea was running slow like Sheen's dragging her.
She can feel that Sheen's hands are trembling and her tears are flowing.
"Stop. We're already far from him. You can cry, no one's around."
Sheen stops and wipes her tears.
"Why's everybody so bad? Why are they toying me? I always thought that they are nice and that they are always good but in the end, they will just hurt me? "
Bea just watches as Sheen cries her heart out.
She knows that Sheen's the type that won't listen to you when she's devastated.
After a few minutes, Sheen started walking toward their house.
"Hey, are we still going to the cinema? We still have the whole day."
Bea followed her behind. Sheen just nods because she's still sobbing.
"Fine. Then, be sure that your eyes won't be too puffy. First, the cinema... then let's go shopping and ride the Ferris wheel."
----
After they arrived home, Sheen took a nap and later sent her application to Bea's company and to the university.
Sheen wore shorts with a sweatshirt, Bea wore her tattered jeans and shirt.
"Hey, your scar on your right leg..."
When they were around four years old, Sheen got into an accident.
She fell from a tree and got her leg cut from a broken sharp branch, leaving it with a scar that looks like her skin got peeled like a paper.
It's around six inches long and 1 inch wide on the middle.
It was stitched but it opened again yet Sheen didn't tell her Mom so it healed on its own while it's a bit open.
"That's fine. You know, when I look at it, it makes me feel like I was still climbing that stupid tree. It was fun. So where are we going?"
They plan on watching the horror movie on the cinema then go shopping and to the fun park.
They took their leave around 10 A.M.
"I'm already writing my resignation letter. I plan on giving if i get the jobs."
The heat's quite burning during this time. Good thing's that the building around their city's huge enough to cover them from the sun.
"First, you need to settle things between you and your boys. If not, they will chase you and bug you."
The streets earlier that were very peaceful are full of cars and people.
"I would, I'd tell them to f*ck off and then I'll leave. I don't want anything to do with them."
"Oh, really? I thought you like Wyn?"
Sheen suddenly blushed while her heart aches.
"Yeah, I do. But that doesn't mean that I'd go stupid and still get married to him or any of them."
"Yeah, start all over again. Just be sure to end everything before leaving."
The cinema line was not too long, they bought popcorn and drinks before entering.
There were not that many people inside so they got to choose the best seats.
Their line was not that full before but as time passed, Sheen noticed who was about to sit beside her...
'Kady? What the hell is he doing here? Isn't he supposed to be at work?'
Then he looked at the guy who's following him, 'Blue? Oh.. I get it.'
The movie they were about to watch is the second part of the horror movie that they loved as kids. It took a long time to make the second part and all of the kids who were so into that movies are already adults.
'In all places, why do you have to sit beside me?'
She looked at Bea who's sitting on her left side.
Bea noticed that Sheen's trying hard to cover her face and when she looks at the guys on her right side, she panicked.
"What are we gonna do? Move seats?" She whispers to Sheen who's looking at her with panic.
"No, no more seats are available. I thought there are few people who're gonna watch this."
They both clicked their tongue.
"Use the hood of your sweatshirt. I think it's big enough to cover your face."
Bea helps her to use her hoodie. It was enough to cover Sheen's face from her side.
"Just focus on watching and try not to catch his attention," Bea whispered before Sheen sits properly.
The movie started with a shock.
Bea reacted but Sheen was too occupied with Kady sitting beside her.
'This is getting boring, how can they destroy a legend like this! This is a crime!' Sheen thought while frowning with every scene.
She took her juice but unfortunately, she didn't fully take it out from its holder and it spilled on her legs as well as Kady's.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!" Sheen forgot that it was Kady and wipes his jeans and her legs.
It was too dark for him to see her face but her scar on her leg made him recognize her.
When they were young, the three of them used to draw things on her scar so he really knows that scar.
"Sheen?" He said.
She's still wiping her leg and Kady's as well when he called her name.
'Crap, better run.'
