Chapter 127 - Where

When Han Meixiu opened her eyes, maybe it was because she felt extremely uncomfortable, she was already in an unfamiliar place. The small room was faintly lit by a light coming from outside.

It took quite a while before her eyes were able to adjust to the dimness of the place.

There were few debris lying around and aside from the quilt where she slept, there was also a broken table and few pieces of wood bound by a rope. Since the room was small she could almost see everything while sitting on her place.

Looking at the small window, she knew it's already night time.

How long did she sleep?

Was she really that tired that she didn't feel when her body was moved?

She carefully observed herself. There was no wound. Except from throbbing of head with a tolerable headache, and fatigue which was from her activities today, there was nothing odd.

Her heartbeat started to hammer recklessly on her chest.

Was she kidnapped?

But how?

She was clearly in the resting area. She chose the one near the entrance so Liu Zijian could see her right away.

How did she end up being in this place. It's clearly an abandoned room. Probably an abandon house or building.

Maybe it's part of the training?

Didn't they learn today how to escape in this kind of situation?

Thinking about it this way, she started to calm down.

She would try to asses her situation first.

Han Meixiu carefully heightened her hearing to check if there might be someone nearby. But it's eerie quiet.

She then moved towards the window with careful steps.

Looking at the height of the trees, she's probably on the third floor. It would be impossible to jump. Even if she's on the second floor, given the condition of her body she wouldn't land safely.

She moved closer to the door. There was indeed no movement. As she tried to open it, it's locked. She sighed. She more or less expected it. The only way to escape was that window.

She checked the rope after removing it from the bunch of woods. It's too short to be used.

Right, there's a quilt. She could improvise.

As she was about to reach the quilt she heard some footsteps. She became increasingly alert.

Maybe it was intuition as she could sense a faint smell of danger lurking around. She lied down again and partly covered herself while her senses were at their most attentive state.

The door opened.

"She's still asleep. Should I wake her up?"

There was a pause after the statement. It meant the other person must be talking over the phone with someone.

"I didn't use much earlier. Maybe she's just too weak since she's a woman."

She heard the man again.

So, something was used to make her sleep like a log.

She halted her breathing as sweat started to form even though it was somewhat cold.

Few torturous minutes passed and the door was once closed again. Still, Han Meixiu didn't try to move an inch.

She waited until the footsteps disappeared and counted few more minutes before slowly moving.

The small room went back to it's tranquil state.

It's not part of the training. No matter how many times she would deceive herself, she's indeed kidnapped.

She wanted to cry but crying would not help her.

She knew Liu Zijian would find her but the question would be, when?

She could not just wait.

Han Meixiu continued her escape plan. It's the most basic plan but she did't have much of a choice.

It was a good thing that the window has a horizontal metal bar where she could tie up the rope.

Although she has a quilt to add up, the length of both was still not enough.

But even though, it's better than directly jumping from the third floor.

As she looked down, she could only see a small path and a lamp post not too far. It's light flicker from time to time just like the one she could see in a horror movie.

Except from trees seemingly surrounding the place, there's no other nearby building.

It's either she was in the middle of a forest, or at the back of a compound.

After securing the rope and the quilt together, she started to decent. She could feel the roughness of the rope against her palm but it's best to ignore those bruises.

Although she had slept, her body's condition was still not good but she should keep on moving.

Han Meixiu jumped for about a meter and half before she finally felt the solid ground under her feet.

She slowly followed the wall and eventually ended up near a window with light's on. She wanted to know where she was.

As she slowly approach the opened window, she heard the voices inside.

"Do you think she will talk?" The voice of this man was similar to one she heard earlier.

She didn't dare to look. She only listened.

"We will force her to. If we could find out information about how they accept people, then the next time they open up we will have an advantage."

"If we can't make her talk, let us just silence her forever. Then we can get another one again."

Han Meixiu shivered upon hearing their plan. She pondered for a time.

She was kidnapped because they wanted information from her? Before she could analyze more, another voice rang out.

"How can they accept someone as weak as that woman? I'm a lot better than her." There was a discontent on the voice of the third person.

"Maybe she has special talent. By the way aren't we going to give her food?" It was that man who again who checked her up earlier.

Han Meixiu started to become restless. If they would deliver food they would find out she's gone on that room. Then her chance to escape would become slim.

She crawled for a good couple of meters and saw a clear path. There was actually a mansion upfront. She hesitated. She didn't know if she would be safe if she would continue there.

She must find the exit. The problem was, she also didn't know where. But definitely she wouldn't stay in this area.

She thought that maybe the way to leave this place would be near the mansion, or at least a proper path would be present.

As she walked and run for few meters while hiding herself in the darkness of the night, she saw someone coming.

'D*amn!' She couldn't continue that way. She retreated a few steps and hid herself again.

Based from what she traveled, it seemed that small room was indeed located at the back of that building.

If she would retreat, she might be recaptured. If she moved forward, it would be the same.

She reluctantly looked at another direction. She could only see darkness. She moved away from the light.

Although it was a moonless night, her eyes were able to adjust to the darkness after a couple of minutes.

She just continued walking and from time to time looked at the sky. She wanted to find the Big Dipper to at least have an idea of what direction she's going. But the trees were actually obstructing her view.

It wasn't too long when she heard voices not too far from her. There was a commotion.

'No!'
