Chapter 12 - Apocalypse XII – Fire Vs Lightning(3)

Aditya's POV,

Vajra and the flames meet and they have a battle to move ahead. One's an unbreakable material whole the other is an unstoppable force. But one must give in. I am not sure if it will be Charles or Dharmendra who gives in. They are both equally powerful. They both our more and more attack power into it. There is a huge blast from it. There is blinding light for a moment. Then it's all dust. A few minutes later, I see a figure in blue walk towards where Dharmendra once stood. I hear the voice of Dharmendra, "Go on! Kill me!"

Charles's POV,

I walk towards Dharmendra. I really hope that I got him. If I didn't it would be very troublesome for me to fight him now. My attack power is very low. If we were to continue the battle, I am sure he would destroy me. I see him on the floor coughing up blood. His thoracic section is completely charred, his armour broken apart. His hands have second degree burns from exerted that much power. He probably doesn't have any power to stand up. I summon my sword to myself. I have a little portion of my attack power remaining. I can still get him. I raise my sword at him when I hear his voice, "Go on! Kill me! Hehhehehehehhe! Show the rest of the world the kind of killer that you are, thou Bloody Azure!"

Somehow, his words strike a chord at my heart. Is he right? Am I truly an indiscriminate killer? Am I no better than those whom I condemn? Is this all I am? A bloody, murderous hypocrite? That can't be! I can't be that person! My sword drops from hand as it falls down with a thud next to me.

Most people know this about me- in real life, I am the most stereotypical nerd you shall ever find. I had a bad childhood with others bullying me for being me, indiscriminately destroying everything that I did as a child. This didn't stop there. I passed school with a perfect score. I went into college. Even there, I was bullied to no end, all because I was outperforming some dumbass and his gang. I stuck through that and grew to be the bigger man. I opposed their fury with my patience. But those five years I spent in college through my Bachelor's and Master's were the worst five years of my life. In the end, I got over it. Got my PhD and worked as a professor in the same place. Then I fell in love with this girl. She fell in love with me as well. My rival from college- that guy was also in love with her. The first year of college repeated itself. Finally I pulled in the cops. They basically slapped his wrists and let him go because he just had more money than I did. So me and my wife left the city(which was New York) and moved to Pasadena where we lived happily ever after. Then a few years went by. I was equivalent to your average white collar Joe. Then this game released. I was happy that for once, I would stand out. I was happy that for once, I was accepted for who I was. And now, to find out that I have apparently been bullying others by basically murdering them- it leaves me devastated. That basically means that all this while I was taking out my anger on other players. Just like those piss hats who bullied me for being me and basically traumatized me for the entirety of my life. At this point, it is a psychological miracle that I even have a social life. And the fact that I have been imposing that on others makes me feel much much worse than I felt when I was bullied. That is one experience I wouldn't even want the Satan to undergo! I drop down to my knees.

Dharmendra snorts, "You don't have the power to kill me? Isn't that all that you do? Isn't that what you did to me two years ago, stabbed me in the back and killed me? Well, do it again you asshole!"

I am not the most fit person socially, mentally and emotionally and not at all one physically. I am not a great human either. But there is one thin line I shan't let anyone cross nor shall I cross that line myself- the line of betrayal. This jerk thinks that he can betray me and try to backstab me and then claim that I was the one doing the backstabbing? Oh, I don't care what happens to him right now, he is getting hell! "Hey, you arsehole! Those who live in glass buildings shouldn't throw stones at others! You were the one doing the betrayal, not us! I think you should get that into your thick head!"

[Mythological titbits: Last time when we left, the Pandavas had come back to Hastinapura along with Kunti. They were well received by their brothers the Kauravas. There was always a form of rivalry among the brothers. It was to be expected. One day all the brothers were playing together. They were playing with a ball. Somehow the ball fell down inside the well. All the boys went to the well and tried to bring it out. I am not sure why the boys wanted to use the same ball. It would have been quite wet and I am quite sure that the palace would have more than one ball at hand for the boys. I think it was a question of pride for them. So they all thought of many different ways to get the ball up but none would be successful. Then a man wearing orange dhoti and clothes came by and asked the kids what they were doing. The kids told him about the ball in the well. Some scriptures say that he used hay to bring the ball up while some others say that he used actual arrows to bring it up. I shall be following the arrows version as it shows Drona's care and dexterity as to bring up the ball using arrows without puncturing it. Drona shot one arrow one the ball then shot another and so on until it reached a point where he could pull them all up with his hand. He pulled the ball up and gave it to the boys. The boys went and told Bhishma about this incident. Bhishma instantly realized that this was Drona. Drona would have been known by Bhishma because firstly, Drona was the son of the great sage Bharadwaja and a descendant of sage Agnirasa. Drona is said to be the third incarnation of lord Brahma, the creator. He is also known as Devadrona(deva meaning god). Drona learnt military arts under his father along with the prince of Panchala Drupada. Drona had gone to Parashurama when he learnt that Parashurama was was giving away all his belongings to Brahmins. When he went there, the only things Parashurama had remaining was his weapons and he gave them away to Drona and gave him the knowledge about them. This is how Drona got his knowledge about divine weapons. Drona also wields the invincible sword of Lord Brahma which is called Asi-the primordial weapon created by the Gods for the destruction of all evil. So basically Drona was a badass and near invincible and he trained other badasses.

The next time, we will see about the schooling of the Pandavas and Kauravas under Drona's tutelage. See Ya!]
