Chapter 8 - food crisis

Waking up stretching like a lazy cat, a small yawn escaped her sweet lips.

Looking around the unfamiliar room she bruskly sat-up. Looking around memories of the day prior sank in. A soft sigh escaped her as she noted that only her shoes had been removed from her feet, as well as, were placed next to the door.

Getting up with another yawn as she lightly rubbed her sleepy eyes she exited the room and directed herself straight in a bee-like line toward her most desired place... The fridge.

opening the appliance door and looking over its holding, she sighed again. Did they expect her to survive on air? there was literally nothing but water bottles into it! mumbling she turned around to ram into a hard chest! Looking up while rubbing her nose with a slightly annoyed look to the culprit.

'Morning Sunshine' Damien goofily spoke.

'morning...' she added with not much enthusiasm, after all, her belly was empty and nothing was in the fridge.

Noting her sore mood Damien tilted his head lightly his eyes mischievously sparkling.

'So little fox, what stepped on your tail?' he lightly teased her making her scrunch her nose and open the door wide.

'now I don't know about the great wolves but I don't live on just water and fresh air.' she teased right back as his own expression now sank faster than the titanic to the bottom of the ocean.

Face palming in embarrassment he spoke.

'This was my bad I totally forgot to go grab some supplies, well I guess it cannot be helped then. Shall we go to the Tribe food bank so we can fill this personal fridge?' he gave her a cute look his wolf even inside him wagging its tail clearly asking the little fox to forgive it.

Making an amused smile she let out a soft laugh. 'Fine how could I blame you when your acting so cute.' She teased back. 'I shall accept the apologies for our starving stomach if we can have some bacon.' she leaned her jaw to her palm while looking up with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

A small chuckle escaped his chest as he nodded like a hen picking worms. 'Alright, there should be plenty of it.' he then gave her a dazzling mesmerizing smile.

she was stunned. how can someone smile so brilliantly? after taking a moment to recover her soul she nodded once very slowly getting out of that daze... her only thoughts going along the line of; [it should be considered criminal to smile like that! her poor heart was being stimulated into big strings nearly giving her cardiac arrest! that guy clearly was a sinner enemy of woman hearts!

while he laughs his guts out from her expression they made their way to the nearby store under the curious gaze of the females and pups all looking more confused than the other. One of the big three was laughing carelessly those guys on a normal day if one could get him to even faintly smile to them it was already a moment worth a fortune! Just who was that unknown female? she clearly was not a wolf so she couldn't be a new pack member. Small gossips could be heard where ever they passed...

Arriving at the small store where one would trade in not money but allocated points for contributing to the pack. The wolves packs between their own members did not use money unless if selling to an outsider as all products were first brought in by the members with money then one could simply go pick up needed items if one worked into bettering the pack life.

Warriors would get generous contribution points for risking their lives for the pack then the healers, as well as the other various staff, would get allocated points extra atop the normal allocations of points to regular non-working members to get the items they needed for their day to day lives.

A small bell atop the door rang per their entry a light yet more aged female voice sounded. 'hello, be there in just a small moment!'

Damien spoke joyfully. 'No problem grand-ma. We will just look around a bit to stock up some food.'

Falina extended her neck to see over the shelves who was talking but quickly gave up as her small size she couldn't see past them...

Shrugging lightly she now focused on finding her food, priorities first eat while you can!

Damien made a small smile. 'here this way. we should also get you whatever else you might need for you.'

Acquiescing with her head she looked at the products which had various points connotations the more expensive ones where the non-essential to life products on other hand food and the like had very little points.

she lightly frowned she couldn't guess the value of the items as even some more luxurious food items were very cheap but had an amount limit per family. she comes from an everyone for themselves race had very little understanding of the more communal and social way of thinking of the wolves.

Picking a few items Damien spoke with assurance. 'Don't fret too much. We will allocate your points so you can come and shop for things you need as well if your stay turns to be one in the longer run.'

Looking up toward him she wasn't truly surprised, after all, she more or less understood that they, while they treated her nicely, were not about to let her leave.

Not that she would complain now. Her life had already improved by leaps and bounds. Simply answering him with 'alright' and a small nod she did not seem to be in any hurry to leave anywhere.

More so as she clearly seemed to even enjoy spending time with those wolves while the alpha still made her a bit fidgety. the other two had been classed as big fluffy goofballs.

once they finished choosing a cart full of stuff Damien exchanged some points for the items and the old lady while treating the young fox with a courteous manner a look of utter puzzlement flashed into her eyes as she observed the small fox girl, then looked at the Gamma exiting with all the bags not even letting her carry even one.

The old lady smiled after a moment. Maybe they finally encountered someone that could help those three boys she thought.

on the way home plenty of heads once again turned over to look at the goof smile on the face of the Gamma and the girl walking next to him. Tongues wagged once more!
