Upon hearing his grandson's request a smile could be seen growing upon Thedius wrinkled old face, he always enjoyed hearing that word "grandpa", it signified the continual of a strong family line.
"Could you wait outside young girl? I need to have a talk with my grandson" - The voice had startled Ann at first, before quickly nodding and quietly leaving the room to wait outside.
"What are your intentions with the maid girl?"- Thedius asked his grandson with curiosity flashing past his eyes.
When hearing his grandpa's question about Ann, a smile appeared on Joseph's face. "She seems to have an interesting character and very filial. She's working to help her poor family, I get the feeling that by helping her, I am making an important investment."
As Thedius heard what his grandson had just said shock could be seen, a poor young maid could be an investment? The more he thought about it the less he could understand of his grandson's views, maybe he was just getting too old.
With a sigh he said to his grandson, "You may or not have noticed an odd bookshelf at the back of the library, pull the third book from the first row. This will reveal a passageway to another room, a private library which holds the knowledge of the businesses we hold as a family." - With that having been said, Thedius who had been standing walked back towards his chair.
"Thank you grandpa" - Joseph bowed slightly towards his grandfather and left the room.
Waiting outside sitting on a bench Ann had been waiting for the Young Master she would now be serving, as the words personal maid and serving seemed branded on her mind, the more thoughts arose within her mind and the redder she became.
With the sound of the doors opening and closing, Ann broke out of her reverie and quickly stood up awaiting her Young Master.
Upon seeing Ann quietly waiting her face quite red, several thoughts passed by Joseph's mind before dismissing them.
"Come Ann, let's go see your family." - Joseph proceeded to walk towards the main entrance of the manor leading towards the road to the city.
The statement had left the standing Ann stunned, seeing him walking towards the main entrance she quickly ran to catch up with him. When she finally reached Joseph taking deep breaths, she asked him why?
"Why does Young Master want to see my family?" - Worry could be heard in her voice, had she done something and now her family was to be punished as well?
Hearing the concern in Ann's voice, Joseph could not help himself with thinking about why would she be having any cause for concern.
"Ann, let me ask you a few questions" - Joseph was prepared to ensure that his investment would bring positive results but certain measures to be in place first.
"What do you think of being my assistant instead of being a maid?"
"Would you like to visit your family more often?
When Ann heard these questions, she stopped in her tracks, tears could be seen streaming down her red swollen eyes. Of all the things that had been running through her mind, the questions her Young Master had asked of her was too much and she broke down in tears.
After a moment she managed to wipe her tears away and seeing her smiling Young Master's face, she lowered her blushing face. "Really I can see my family more often?" - The first question she asked was to her perhaps the most important.
"Of course, my quarters back on to the forest, there are no wild beasts and it will be quite safe for your family, after we return from visiting your family I will start the procedure to building a house for them to move into." - Having reassured Ann, Joseph once more placed the cloth bag into her hands and continued to walk towards the entrance.
"Why... Why are you helping me so much?" - For a while now, Ann had been wanting to answer this question, she was positive she had never interacted with this Young Master at any other time other than when she crashed into him.
Joseph stopped in his tracks when he heard Ann's question, he recalled moments ago his grandfather has asked him a similar question, at the time he had just casually said he felt that Ann would be an investment of sorts he was willing to invest in.
"I don't know" - The answer almost floored poor Ann, who was not expecting it at all, of all the possible replied she had been thinking about, "I don't know" she had not even contemplated.
Before she yelled out of anger, to question him if he was mocking her and mocking her family, she heard a sigh.
"I just have a feeling you are or will be important to me at some stage."
The anger quickly vanished, leaving a confused Ann standing at the entrance.
