Chapter 5 - I Hate Kill Stealing!

*AUGH*

Rex's body and soul hit a pillar, both of them fall at the same, his soul being able to return to a bloody nosed body. He lays on his back dumbfounded on what just happened. "It should have just exploded, why did it hit back. Was it a last ditch effort to kill me? I never heard of a slime attempting to hit you while it was exploding."

Rex forces his body to turn to look at Giant Slime. It was in the middle of exploding, it seemed as though it was frozen in time. Its soul was no longer in sight, from behind it Rex could see a shadow of someone.

"Who's there," Rex shouted at the shadow.

The shadow moves away from Giant Slime and into Rex's vision. The shadow turned out to be a man, around 5 feet, 6 inches tall. His hair was midnight black, short, and slicked back. He had no armor, no outer wear apart from his wool clothing.

"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to steal your kill like that," the man says as Giant Slime finally explodes.

Slime goo lands everywhere, on the man, on Rex, the floors and wall.

Who is this guy? How did he just steal my kill there. Wait, how did I not notice him here? I guess he was hiding out in the outskirts, waiting for me to get it low, then come and steal my kill.

"Its fine, I did enough damage to it for both of us to go up the dungeon."

The man smiles and exhales with relief, "I'm glad, it would have been unfortunate if you could not go up the dungeon."

Rex struggles to get up, stumbles a bit, wipes his nose, he picks up his sword and walks to the man. While walking to the man he comes to a revelation, I was the first person to get here. The closer Rex got to the man one detail became prominent, his left eye was pure white. The only other person who could have gotten ahead of me would be...

Rex finally reaches the man, with his sword in one hand he greets him with the other. "Nice to meet you, my name is Rex." The man stares at Rex for a second, then looks at his hand, he slowly raises his hand to shake hands with Rex.

*SLICE*

The man's hand falls to the ground, blood bursts out of the open wound. "AHH!" The man screamed out in pain covering his wound with his hand. "Why...would...you...do that?"

Rex towered over the man, "That was for taking my body. Do you really think you could just get passed me."

The man begins crying out in pain, but soon that cry turns into laughter. The man stops covering his wound, the bleeding miraculously stopped. "I thought we could become friends and we would be able to glide past all these floors together, but I guess I was found out earlier than I thought..."

"I don't do parties, now give me back my body!"

The man backs up, a transparent blue copy of him appears behind him. Rex is surprised that he could take out his soul and his body showing no signs of it happening.

Rex takes out his soul, his body slumped down, as a soul he brings out his Soul World sword and readies for battle.

The man laughs again, "Do you really think you could fight me when you can't even control both your soul and body at the same time. You are too weak to get your body back....Besides-"

A light shines from underneath Rex's armor and clothes. Rex retreats back into his body and checks what the light is. "Its my ID, that would mean that I am going up to the next floor."

Suddenly a beam of light beams down onto Rex, he floats up from the ground and begins to teleport away. He couldn't even say a few words to the man before he teleported away. His words could not escape the beam of light. Constant curses at the man, none were heard, "I SWEAR I WILL GET MY BODY BACK, BE READY!"

[REX HAS ADVANCED FROM THE GROUND FLOOR TO FLOOR ONE]

[AMOUNT OF TIME TO DO SO....]

"A new record!"

A dungeon overseer says as Rex adjusts his eyes to the new level of light. "A new record?"

"Yup! Rex Tamashi, you have cleared the ground floor in record time. The previous record was 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 24 seconds. However you finished within 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 19 seconds. A whole 5 minutes!"

Rex's eyes open at the news, "2 hours and 30 minutes. If I hadn't learned about just aiming for the heart and the secret pathway. I would have probably finished this floor within at least half a day. I'm surprised I was able to beat the record with a distraction in my way," Rex thinks as he stares at his ID. The floor level that shows on his ID has changed from 'GROUND' to 'ONE'.

Rex cannot help but congratulate himself.

He screams out with victory and pride in his voice, startling most of the younger overseers.

"Mr. Tamashi, currently you are in the lobby of the first floor. If you could please follow me to the entrance of the floor."

He keeps his ID out as he follows the instructions of the overseer. They go through a hallway more glamorous than the old stone hallways of the ground floor. Instead the walls were marble with gold trimmings. Rex admired the hallways as the overseer told him of things he could find in the first floor. However he was not paying attention, as he already knew what he could do on the first floor.

Alright, once I get on the first floor, I'm going to have to set up a bank account. Try to purchase a base of operations, get new gear, and possibly get a job or grab some quests to do. I would have to join a guild to get quests, this is going to heavily slow down me conquering the dungeon. I can't focus on conquering the dungeon, if I don't even have a place to sleep and eat, and a steady income.

"This, Mr. Tamashi is the gate to first floor. To go through all you have to do is hold up your ID and it will teleport you in. You can do the same thing to all other gates to floors as long as the floor you are going to is equal to or less than your floor level. Do you understand?"

Rex nods his head.

"Okay then! Go ahead to the first floor now! Have fun and good luck up there."

The overseer backs away from Rex. Rex turns to the door and holds out his ID. In a few seconds his ID begins glowing and the gate begins glowing as well. The gate bursts open and a beam of light shines out grabbing Rex, dragging him through the gate.
