Akaylah smiled in excitement. Her heartbeat was quickening with excitement as she took the game out of its container. She turned on the console and put in the disk.
After a year of hard work and survival, this is what she got, and she was happy about that. She was also proud of herself.
With shaky hands, she put the VR headset around her head and blinked. The screen came into her view.
She looked at the character in front of her for the first time. She couldn't help but smile at the sight. However, that was when she realized: she doesn't know how to work this thing.
"How do I work this..." she thought as she looked around.
She walked around and around her room, using her hands to guide her. She huffed. Finally using her brain, she took off the headset.
She checked the box again and found some gloves.
'After all of the videos I've watched, I forgot to put on the gloves.' she thought while inwardly deadpanning.
She put it on the gloves gently and took a deep breath.
'It's time to level up!' she yelled into her head, trying to sound as brave as possible. In reality, she wasn't brave. At all. Game or real life.
The screen greeted her again. She moved her hands around and chose how she wanted her character to look.
She chose a simple character look. Brown hair that goes to the shoulders, white shirt, brown eyes, and the game's standard pants. She kept her face the same.
She thought of a username but couldn't really think of one. In the end, she chose Angry_Chicky because she remembered a picture that she saw of an angry baby chicken.
She pressed start and her character entered the game. She looked around, but couldn't find the tutorial. Now she was regretting to not watch any videos about the game itself.
"Hey, Angry_Chicky!" yelled someone behind her.
She looked behind her and saw a guy with long white hair and nice armor.
'Perhaps he can help me find the tutorial?' she thought and walked towards him without paying attention to any of her surroundings. Big mistake.
"Take this!" the guy yelled just as she opened her mouth to ask.
He pulled out his sword and stabbed her with it.
"What a noob name..." she heard him mumble. Her screen went blank and asked if she wanted to come back alive.
She sighed and pressed yes.
She appeared back in the game, but the guy was still there! He wasn't turned in her direction, so she ran away from him so that she could live peacefully in this game.
However, someone else found her instead and killed her.
She went back into the game. She was killed, again.
And again.
And again.
Akaylah eventually got frustrated and gave up. She logged off and took off the headset with a huff.
"I just wanna level up!" she yelled with a sigh.
"I'll just try again tomorrow."
